The Super K sat for years before finally being demolished in 2022 for this brand new Meijer to be built. An awesome store all around!

Meijer in the 90's was impressive when I lived in Newark, Ohio. Still going strong with selection. Thanks for bringing us this new one. Wow!
This is a beautiful store. I've shopped at Meijer for decades and to your comment about the store's upkeep. I have seen some stores where conditioning isn't the best, mainly due to being busy locations, but I'll shop a "bad" Meijer over a "nicer" WalMart anyday!

Living in Michigan they're are Meijer stores everywhere. Wallie, that store looks exactly the Meijer store I currently shop, its an older Meijer and the store manager updated it. Meijer has a rewards program called mperks. For example, that 6000 points for produce would give you up to 6 dollars off your next checkout. Customer service or the cashier will explain how it works. I like going to Meijer because the workers are really friendly.
Nice Tour, I worked at the SuperK that was here back in 2000 to 2001!! It was wild seeing it Gone and a New Meijer here!!
Surprising that is not overloaded with people on Grand Opening day. Wish they had them here in the fast growing Carolina's - I bet it would be packed.

I am extremely and pleasantly surprised at Meijer; I have heard of them, but never experienced one before.
I would shop here than Ghetto Mart. I would shop at the grocery section, and peruse the hard goods section of the store.
I would love to see them open in upstate New York, at least until I move back to Long Island.

@@BeckyAnn6879 I live in Greene County, we have Ghetto Mart and Ghetto Chopper (Price Chopper) in Catskill (Crackskill), Hannaford in Cairo (where I now reside) and Tops in Greenville. Albany has more choices; Shop Rite, The Fresh Market and Trader Joe's as well as Aldi. And Honest Weight Food Co-op. But I like choice, as well as competition. Oh, I forgot Target.
Ever since our Meijer opened up, I haven't been to Walmart since. Thanks for taking us around, brother. Have a good one.

Meijer may eventually run walmart to the ground, or at least become a national competitor.
Meijer is also getting a store in Alliance, Ohio too. It's gonna be on the site where the Carnation Mall used to be. The Carnation Mall just got torn down in favor for a Meijer store.
Migrated out of the states 24 years ago and I had no idea KMart went bankrupt.

The nearest Meijer is about four miles from me. I first went there in 1999. Can't believe it's been 24 years. It's still nice but not like this one!

Fun fact: These Meijer exterior store designs were originally used by Kmart in early 2001 and 2002 when they were building more Super Kmart Center locations. Due to the bankruptcy, these constructions ended up being halted leaving them with an unfinished store. I'm surprised that some of them resemble Wal-Mart Supercenter designs in the 2000s.

18:59 I love Primanti Bros with a passion. I have eaten at that Niles location several times. I last went there on December 18 of 2022, when the mall extended its holiday hours till 10:00pm

I like meijer it honestly rivals the local liquor store and Walmart. I’d say it’s like a small town version of Walmart. They have good rotisserie chicken! Deli section! Indiana has them all over.

Since,Kroger and Meijer took over most of the old Kmart Stores and Super Kmart Center Stores. Both Kroger and Meijer would demolish the old Kmart and Super Kmart Center Stores. And Kroger and Meijer would rebuild their own stores and Supercenters in the Detroit and Southeastern Michigan area.
Damn, this is even nicer than the one in Dewitt, MI, that was recently renovated.

The closest Mijers for me is defiance Ohio I enjoy the store very much this one looks awesome little bigger then the one I go to I agree mijer is the best do anything with the one closest to me the electronic section could be better other than that I do prefer them
I'm glad they opened one closest to me. I live in Hermitage, Pennsylvania and I go to the Eastwood Mall Complex a couple times a year.
Hey Wallie! I actually got a job at Meijar! In Wooster OH as a cashier! That is a beautiful store. Meijar is sort of like Kmart or Walmart not too sure

Why is Meijer not a corporate business? I thought they had multiple of locations across a few states. Giant Eagle is an example of a corporate business.
Meijer is family owned
Their stock is not publicly traded, it's owned by the family. So they don't have to answer to Wall Street like Walmart and Target do.

The Meijer family own it. The second generation is currently running it.
My 1st question is: Could you edit out the music 🎼 in the background? 2nd: what’s this place similar to? I live in California we don’t have anything like this. I wish we had one in our abandoned Kmart building. Would be awesome to have something like this we literally only have target, TJ Maxx and Ross…. I used to work for Meijer in Wisconsin
The Meijer stores around me have been outdated for a while, although the one in town is being remodeled. I imagine it will look a lot like this whenever they finish it.
It’s a nice cross over between Walmart and Target. What sets them apart? Customer service is better and some prices on items are mixed in well.
For us folks out West, this store is like Target or Walmart

Thanks for the tip about Meijer so far east in Ohio. I thought the easternmost Meijer’s location (off the turnpike, between Detroit and Pittsburgh) was in Sandusky (which I think also has the westernmost Giant Iggle?). I live in SE Michigan so we have Meijer’s everywhere. (BTW if you’re from Michigan, it’s pronounced “Meijer’s” 😅)
I’m originally from Yinzburgh and my parents live in Beaver PA, about an hour from this location. Probably next time I’m there I might convince my Dad to make a visit; take PA 51 to avoid the toll.
How was your checkout experience? I’ve kind of stopped going to Meijer’s because it’s such a PITA to check out. Even their Shop & Scan hasn’t been much help, even with a dedicated lane. It always requires intervention from one of their worker bees, who never come fast enough because they are so badly understaffed.
Meijer’s always seemed to fit more with the Midwest, especially the Metro Detroit area, because they were open 24 hours until the pandemic. We have a lot of people who work 3rd shift so it was a convenient option for them.
I’ve been to only six Meijer locations since 2009:
Marion, IN (2009-2018)
Muncie, IN (2011 and 2014)
and all four Fort Wayne, IN locations
Illinois Road,
Lima Road
Maysville Road
and DuPont Road (which is very similar to Warren, Ohio’s location).

Meijer is like In and Out Burger and Boscovs as in the will not open locations any where like In and Out in Inrianapolis and Buffalo.

When I Applied For Meijer a year ago they said they were "Aggressively Expanding" in NE Ohio. I do like the Fresh And Home Entrances Of That And The Wooster One. Also From Rumors I Heard Medina is gonna get a meijer and knock down the kmart supercenter. but i dont know why they would build another so close to the one in brunswick?
