- 40 years ago today, one of the most exciting bands took the stage to record a live act so terrific, they had to put it on vinyl. Well, to celebrate, I've made an entire video series dedicated for the anniversary. Hope you enjoy the songs.
PS- I could NOT (unfortunately) include the song 'My Generation' in the series because the song was over 15 minutes long and UA-cam did not allow it. I'm sorry again and if anyone wants that particular song, feel free to ask! Thanks again.
Track 10: Summertime Blues
"Eddie Cochran's bouncy, rhythmic guitar style influenced Pete enormously in The Who's early days and their version of 'Summertime Blues' was a highlight of the band's stage shows for many years. Pete's block chord slash style, coupled with John's rumbling bass riff, was ideal for this song of teenage angst, and Roger, weaned on Fifties rock n' roll, loved to sing it. John always supplied the bass profundo vocal line with a wry smile."
Track 11: Shakin' All Over
"The Who's 'Shakin' All Over' is a typical full frontal assault, guaranteed to rouse everyone within earshot. Everyone gets a chance to shine: Roger howls the lyrics, John tampers with the celebrated bass riff, Pete lets fly on the solos and Keith thunders in at all the right moments."
