Silent Hill is the closest to a subversion. In a horror movie based on a video game filled with death where something bad usually happens to the main character, he somehow survives to the very end.
yeh until they made that cartoonish second one. As a huge Silent hill fan I was nervous but then very happy with that first film. They second one.....why?...why did they make some of those stupid choices.
Probably in one of those parody movies.
Maybe he should have starred in I Am Legend, instead of Will Smith.
Sean Bean is one of the most underrated actors. He's is so talented.
He's not underrated. He is very famous and popular imo. He played the most badass characters, like Ned and Borumir (dunno if I spelled it right) he is my favourite actor.
It is Boromir and yeah he is underrated thats true. I have barely seen he played a leading role in a big production. (very little)He has one of the most iconic voices on planet and a wonderful accent as well.
Except he played important roles in the biggest movie series since star wars and the most popular tv series of the 21st century.

He's death hit me hard in Oblivion when he saved Tamriel from Mehrunes Dagon by breaking the Amulet of Kings and unleashing the dragon to use to banish Dagon back to Oblivion and ending the Oblivion Crisis as Martin Septim

Sean Bean's first major role was Richard Sharpe, who survived 14 movies (and also two others that we don't like to talk about.) It is said that his performance was so unbelievably badass that the movie gods became jealous, and sentenced him to die in every role since then as penance for his hubris.
His Sharpe is great. See him as a transvestite in "The Accused". Bean is the world's most versatile actor.

Not all of the movies, Sean Bean played fictional caracter called Sharpe in 16 movies and he was great. I love his movies, but Sharpe was something very special, it was a good story and he did it very well.

It's funny I think there are several actors that died more than him in films and yet they never got the same reputation. Christopher Lee holds the title for most deaths. Then it is John Hurt, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, and then Sean Bean.

Iam gonna be honest, casting sean bean as ned stark was a mistake. Not that he was terrible, he was great. But lets be honest, deep down, we all know his character wont last. We just didnt expect it to be so soon
i think the reason he dies so much is that.. in more recent movies he comes across as very wise and regal.. game of thrones for instance. that regal bearing makes his death more impactful and adds more emotion to the plot. of course i wouldn't be surprised if it's kind of an inside joke by now among filmmakers. i know if i made a film and a character had to die halfway through, i'd love having sean bean play him. the fact that he is a pretty damn good actor doesn't hurt at all

I've watched all those movies and he survived all of them.
i think its because he is charismatic as an actor and as the one he portrayes in movies he is relatable and that all make s his death important for the story and the people.

Just finished watching the original run of "Sharpe". He owed us about 50 deaths for the number of times he should have died.
Just worked on a film where Sean Bean dies - brilliant scene, and after shooting it he came back to watch it on the monitors. The man watched it back a few times, cackling. He loved it.

I started reading a novel series called the Richard Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell. I found out that Sean Bean had starred in a tv show based on the books several decades ago. I then had to check if the character died at any point in the books. If Sean Bean played the character, be prepared.
