Thanks Tim. Find you videos to be highly informative and engaging. Keep up the hard work!
Thanks, Tim. I’m taking the exam next week, so this was very helpful.
Thank you Tim!! Your videos are great!!! I have been watching a ton of them. I have learned a lot, but after taking the BSincerely
Thanks for the video. I searched your channel and could not find a follow up video to this one. I'm getting ready to take the exam in September (about a month from now) and it would be great to hear anything new you'd have to say. Cheers!
I won’t be able to get a follow on to this before your exam but there are some newer videos on the platform. I’ve found myself a little disappointed with certifications so I’ll maybe make a video on that soon.
Thanks for the video. Is your result out yet? What’s it like?
Great video as always Tim. I took the Desktop Specialist exam today and passed. I have only been exposed to Tableau for 6 weeks but love it... wish I'd had this product back in "the day". I have a strong background in accounting and finance, having worked in corporate finance for 20+ years. I built databases and customized front-end Excel workbooks using VBA and a product called Essbase back then. I'm now planning to dive back into consulting using Tableau and whatever else I need to learn to get busy again. Any suggestion on next steps for me in terms of Tableau and additional certifications? Thanks!
I would just get using tableau. I like certifications because they’re a nice way to find out where you are, think fo them as milestones but you also don’t need them to gauge how the journeys going. There’s a lot not covered in exams that is far more valuable so I would start taking on challenges like workout Wednesday or makeover Monday and just get very comfortable with the product. Also data prep is becoming ever more important so don’t forget things like SQL or tools like Alteryx or prep if you have access to those. I have a great video on how to learn Tableau. ua-cam.com/video/ayc6AjOuQb0/v-deo.html
@@TableauTim- thanks so much for your time. I'll check out Workout Wednesday and Makeover Monday; Thanks!
Are there any books or courses that you found helpful regarding the administration side? Thank you
In Tableau eLearning, they've added a specific section (Analysts Learning Path) that covers the whole exam. However, it costs around $120
Thanks for this video. I have passed Desktop Specialist and Associate Exams. I would like to know what else I need to specifically prepare for this Data Analyst exam?
In Tableau e-Learning, they've updated the ANALYST program. Essentially, in my personal view, the program has more breadth than depth than Associate. For example, you learn a bit about Tableau Prep + email alerts + publishing content. The latter makes real sense. In the real world, we need this daily (as you probably already know).
Hey Tim thank you for the review. Do you think it is better if wait until the finial version is released? Did tableau release more new certificates? Greetings!
You have a few days left to sit the exam. if you fail you get a free resit so i would sit it now.
If I don't have access to Tableau Prep, will that be an issue? I used it a few years ago but very little since I found it easier to fix the data using sql or fixing the data in the table itself. I've used the free trial already, so not sure I can do it again. Thanks!
No I don't think so. in my exam i got 2 questions on it so even if it does come up and lets say you've never opened it, the other parts of the exam should carry you. Your SQL knowledge will also help any way when it comes to the data prep side of things. The other key parts to also know is what you can do with it so i have videos on my channel covering the key prep features and releases and how that interfaces with the other products.
@@TableauTim Thank you so much for your reply and for the great content! I’ll check out your video on prep. Appreciate it!
Hello, Thanks for the video. If you want to compare the "Tableau Certified Associates" with this "Tableau Data Analyst certificate", what is the difficulty level of the Data Analyst certificate compared to CA exam?
About the same difficulty but the analyst exam covers more of tableau not just desktop.
Thanks Tim. This is very informative indeed.
I’m unable to schedule my exam for next week as the voucher code keeps giving me an error for invalidity, even though there’s still 14 days to its expiry. I’ve emailed Tableau multiple times as well but have heard no response. Would you be able to help with this?
I don’t work for tableau so can’t help here.
How did you submit the hand on question: in different workbook or the Book1 itself?
Check the most recent exam guide in my pinned post. There no hands on questions any more.
Number of Questions:
o Scored items: 30 knowledge-based items and 1 hands-on lab with 10-11 tasks.
o Unscored items: 15 knowledge-based items and 1-2 hands-on lab tasks
Thank you for this, do we have free study and practice material for this exam ?
The one i mentioned is in the description. Are you asking If i'll make one ? Maybe soon.
What would be ideal for a beginner level tableau associate consultant certification ? Or tableau data analyst certification?
Tableau Desktop Specialist exam for a beginner!
Thanks for the video. How do you think the new exam compared to the former Certified Associate exam?
I think the same level of difficulty but this exam has a broader range of topics to cover the tableau platform and the question and answer mechanism along with not having access to resources means you need to have the knowledge with you rather than know how to find it or test it.
@@TableauTim Thanks. I take the Beta on 10/6. I hope it goes well! 😬
@@TableauTim No more Googling allowed?! Hmm ...
@@DamonMurphy1 How's ur exam Damon? It's harder than certified Associate or not? thanks.
Hi Tim, thanks for the video. Has the results finally arrived? If yes, when? thanks!
They haven't. Tableau said they would arrive fairly soon.
@@TableauTim I've taken the exam yesterday, ufff...quite hard. Bye
What is the most economical path to get Tableau software for training?
Using tableau public alone you could cover 80% of the content in this exam for free. Experience using the product takes time though so if you can get hold of license for a trial period or at work that will help speed up your learning.
@@TableauTim so ur sayn I need to eat the 70 bones per month for the yearly license!!! whatever it takes, btw what is the marketplace for a tableau newby? thx
Hello, I have a little bit of experience working with tableau but I have a long way to go. How can I prepare for the data analyst Tableau certification? Can you recommend to me any A-Z Tableau course that covers everything about Tableau?
It's funny that you mention "A-Z" - I've had the Certified Associate certification for 4 years and one of the online courses I used was "
Tableau 2020 A-Z" by Kirill Eremenko. The other was "
Tableau for Beginners" by Lukas Halim. The latter includes a couple of practice exams. Those are the online courses I used to get the Tableau skills I needed to pass the certification exams. I purchased these courses through Udemy. (Wait for a sale...you should be able to get these courses for $10-12).
Best of luck!
In Tableau eLearning, they've added a specific section (Analysts Learning Path) that covers the whole exam. However, it costs around $120.
Ltes get back to basics have you seen the exam guide? If so wondering if youd rather someone walk you through the topics int here ina course or if your more of a self motivated individual who once they knows the topic and navigate the documentation to understand how to do something. Tableau are never going to test you on something not documented in the product or covered in a generally free resources
@@PatrickBateman12420 is Tableau tool included?
@@dexterstjock5948 You mean the software license?! Noooo ... you can work with the free public version.
