    Its tone is outstanding. It's clean and powerful. One of the best neck pickup on a 24 fret I've ever heard.

    Great work Cory! So happy to see a review of 812S. When I bought mine I had very little information and no experience from Yamaha but kind of trusted that the quality can not be that bad. Very versatile piece of art and joy! I have a Lightning Blue from 1992.

    I’ve gotta Yamaha Se300H I think it’s from the early 80’s splitable humbuckers and a beautiful red finish.
    If’n it says Yamaha on it…it’s probably awesome.

    From Leo: Thanks for the review. Looks like a great guitar, I have never played one of that model, but all Yamahas' I have played were pretty nice playing guitars. At this point in my life so many things that I either had in the past or wanted to have just are not available anymore, Guitars, motorcycles, cars, etc. They have come and gone and I missed them.

      Yeah, nothing is forever. Get stuff while it's available . Do things while you can do them. Enjoy while it lasts.

    Those yamahas from 90's are amazing instruments. They are super hard to find. My suggestion to you is don't sell it.

    I am not usualy a fan of Telecaster, but this Super Tele is a superb guitar with great attention to detail
    and in a great colour.
    What a shame that they are no longer made, there are some used ones on Reverb at sensible prices
    but the shipping cost from the USA plus import duties and VAT makes them expensive.
    I hope you get a good price for this one Cory. 🙂👍🎸

    I used to have a Pacifica 821d , unfortunately not the S with the T Style Body. But i got it for 90€, that was a serious bargain, especially for the Specs (dimarzio Pickups, nice, flamed Maple Neck, good FR Style Trem)

    • @CoryMura

    This is a really great looking Pacifica. My buddy has a PAC721R with an identical configuration (it might have had cheaper pickups - hence 700 rather than 800 series) except with the strat-style body. Same neck join, same vibrato, same tuners, same neck. Yamaha did use stainless steel frets on some guitars in the '90s. But only higher end Pacificas.

    • @CoryMura
      @CoryMura  2 роки тому

      They really used stainless steel? That's crazy. I thought there were no one doing it in the 90s.

      @@CoryMura Yeah. I have a PAC904 with ss frets. You can check the specs. Mine was built in the 2000s but the model was produced in the '90s already.

    The guitarist from Smashing Pumpkins got a signature Pac in this style, strat not tele, not too long ago. And if can read between the lines from what he said about it Yamaha might be considering to release something like it. Or I am just misinterpreting😆

      @@CoryMura I have a mint condition ivory with rosewood fretboard 1986 SE 612 A. Active pickups HSS with Yamaha Floyd tremolo. Lots of chrome. Rare beasts.(And a Fender Strat headstock which matches body.)😍

    • @maxmustardman298
      @maxmustardman298 2 роки тому +1

      They fell out of fashion, like a lot of superstrat design. At least in the sense of production costs for such a highly speced guitar. You wont find some of these specs on any guitar even today. I think the all access neck joint is still the best bolt on method Ive seen on any guitar, and that includes Ibanez. You can see it in its perfection on the 1212 or 1221 models if I have my numbers right.

    everything seems to be great about this guitar (aside of the pickups maybe). i mean yamaha pacificas all puch above their weight. but i can''t make friends with the shape of the top horn. i know, a lot of "modern teles" have this shape. i don't like those either.... but hey, sounds decent, and that flaky color is stunning. and an adjustable nut is nuts. we need that on all guitars....

    Ok. So I'm 55
    I grew up playing cheap stratocasters. I've had probably 50 electric guitars , ..335s, LP, SG, Explorers, Etc ..I always come back to strats
    With one exception...the Pacifica tele. I have never had a high quality hardtail strat, just haven't stumbled upon a desirable one
    I have tried the Floyd's, they were cool in the 80s..but the vintage style strat bridge is close to perfect. I've tried locking machines, but the vintage strat box-style ones sound great with the vintage bridge saddles. You could improve on the original design if you were determined, but you don't have to . Strats are perfect.
    I always wanted a great tele, because the hardtail design on it is perfect. But the body is cumbersome
    ..then I found the Pacifica teles, hardtail , Taiwan, just perfect. ( I am so accustomed to cheap guitars, that I gave away all me expensive ones, and now I prefer guitars at $200. ) They require some work, but when you get them right, they are much better than the $2500 ones. These are facts
    .. so what kind of an idiot would take a beautiful tele like that and ruin it with the Floyd? It's ridiculous. That's what strats are for . A trem defeats the very purpose of the tele, and ruins the simplicity and charm . And it's inferior to a strat, because more important than the variety of body wood, is the specific size, and SHAPE of the body . The DIMENSIONS
    That is why strats sound like strats you can make them out of plastic, and if the dimensions are correct it will give you that tone. So that guitar is a nice tele, that some idiot ruined.
    Those are my thoughts. Nice guitar tho...you could probably get a good price for it, and then go buy a 102, and a 402, and still have beer money left.

  • @Clapstain
    @Clapstain 2 роки тому

    I think this guitar was kind of ahead of it's time, or too late. 1993 was too late for 80s and too early for 80s resurgence. It's pretty similar to the tele styles charvel makes now just not as high output. Very cool guitar.
