This is amazing advice. I can’t remember which one but a companion or the Prophet ﷺ took over 10 years to finish Surah Al Baqarah (the cow) because he would read it, reflect and wouldn’t move on until he implemented it in his life. And the Quran truly is a miracle because you could read it a million times and learn something new or reflect on something different each and every time ❤

one of unique aspects of quran, it does not arranged in typical chronological or storytelling style. couple of verses dealing with particular topic/story, before switching to other topic. however, after finish reading it, all these seemingly disconnected messages, stories, commandments, form a very solid impression, akin like someone who has discovered all the connecting dots.

That is true. Thank you. In 2022, I have a personal project, to become the Hafidz (the memorizer of Quran). Its August 2024 now, and still going around Al Baqarah. You're right, in its simplicity come complexity. But in the good way, to develop my personal growth, and more importantly... To stregthen our relationship with Allah, the angels, and His messengers

"you won't understand everything" - this is SO IMPORTANT to remember. It was my frame of mind when I first read the Qur'an and it helped a lot to keep it in mind. These are the words of Allah, who understands the complexities of the entire universe. We can't expect to understand all the complex and subtle meanings behind those words with our first reading. I've been Muslim 18 years and I still discover new meanings and a new understanding of the Qur'an when I read it. Because at different times of our lives, with different experiences behind us, we will gain new perspectives and a greater understanding. The meaning of the Qur'an is designed to grow with us as we grow in our lives.

For future reference, quran is the revelation from Allah all of the verses and all of the surahs it's called quran , it is unique and one of a kind, so if we have multiple books of quran we shouldn't use the plural "qurans"
The quran verses and surahs is only one revelation, the book it self we can call it ("mushaf"-mus~ħaf) it's an Arabic word means collection of Manuscripts or papers we only use it in Arabic to refer to the quran in a book form, but the surahs and verses i.e the quran is one of a kind, so in Arabic when we wanna use a word to describe multiple books of quran we use the word mushaf instead, so in English for future reference you could use the word "mus-haf" for singular book of quran and "mus-hafes" of "masa~hif" for multiple books of quran.
Sorry to be so analytical but i only said that so your non Muslim followers don't get confused when you use the words qurans.

    Agree 💯💫💢👌...
    1) make sure you have a shower.
    2) Open the Qur'an with a clear and open mind.
    3) RECITE the Qur'an with the intention to recieve Divine guidance and advice knowing that it is no ordinary Book and that there is no other Book or Scripture unlike it.
    4) Whilst reading ponder and reflect upon the message, advice and guidance.
    5) Accept the Message advice and guidance and declare the testimony of faith (I bear witness there is none worthy of Worship except Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is His final Messenger). Just like this brother and many others around the World including high ranking Priests, Scientists and other intellectuals.

    ASLM...Great video brother!!!
May Allah SWT keep you on the straight path.!
i have have thinking about putting such a list myself...I would like to share an insight that changing my level of understanding...namely that reading the Quran in English will convey a particular meaning to an English speaking audience...a recent language and hence frame and point of view.
However the true Quran is in Arabic, the most amazing and sophisticated language ever...where one verse, nay... a few words of a verse can keep you pondering for a lifetime.
Where hidden, new and deeper understandings of its message emerge continuously ...as you study the Hadith, the history, the commentary's, the modes of recitation and their layered meanings
...I now understand that reading the "quran" in English is not the real Quran, I was only reading an attempted overview through a tiny pinhole.

One thing to add to your excellent advice is that the Quran isn’t a book just to be read once. The more times you read it, the more you find understanding being revealed to you through Allah’s words.

even though ready and studying the Quran translation will help you increase your Iman and and understanding of Islam. but brother don't forget you should strive to learn Arabic so you can read and learn the Quran in its original language .
because trust me you won't appreciate the miracle and the beauty of the Quran and its eloquent language until you learn to read and understand Arabic. I know its not easy at first but with time you will pick it up. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur'an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur'an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards.

The only thing I'd exercise some caution with is consulting Sheikh Google for meanings of Qur'an or any sort of islamic advice. There's a lot of very useful info online, but there's some dodgy info too, and cultural perspectives that may seem strange or scary to us westerners. So, where possible, it's always better to consult a recommended teacher, or a specifically recommended speaker or source of information online if you can.

The Study Quran is the best in translation but not in commentary, the reason being is that the commentary was provided by a perennialist who came from a Twelver background, so the commentary is erroneous to the nth degree, but the translation itself is truly the best to date, it accomplishes both readability and accuracy, whereas the others tend to sacrifice one for the other inevitably.

The Holy Quran was revealed and sent down to a Prophet who could not read or write and yet it is very simple and complicated at the same time. Who could have authored such a book except Allah, God Almighty. Anyone who dismissed the Holy Quran surely will be the the loser in the Hereafter.
Holy Quran, Chapter 103. “By Al-’Asr (the time that is limited, time that is ending). Indeed, mankind is in [deep] loss. Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.”

Firstly, being a revert does in of itself not qualify one to make recommendations about Islam. Secondly, there is no such thing as, "a Quran". The Quran is the uncreated Speech of the Most High, whereas what we hold in our hands is more properly referred to as "Al MusHaf" (the collection of pages [containing textual representations of the Sounds of Allah's Speech]). There is NO SUCH THING AS "A PHYSICAL QURAN". Period. And the English is merely a translation of the interpretation of the meanings of the Quran. What you show here for ease of understanding for your viewers is a "Quran translation". That is all. If you want to keep using this term, then we employ the principle of "accepting the meaning and rejecting the words".But what we must steer clear of is guiding people towards the understanding that the Speech of the The Most High is physical and created, as this can lead to shirk, which is antithetical towards why humans were created. Thirdly, with regards to the Quran being "complex": on the contrary, the prophet said that Islam is easy and also, Allah states that He sent the prophet to explain to the people what was being revealed to them. So it's not complex. You might think it is, but this is just the ruminations of your mind. What I would suggest is that as you have just reverted, based on what I have heard you say here, is that your obvious enthusiasm would be better placed studying more with students of knowledge and scholars in this subject after which time you will be able to promulgate what you have learned with authority. At the moment, you seem to be doing a disservice both to yourself and to Islam. Personally, I would recommend that you delist this video. In fact, I order you in the Name of Allah to do so.
