Elfman comes across as a very humble and down to earth guy in this interview and doesn't have the inflated ego that some film composers seem to have (I won't name any names). He always pays respect to the legends that came before him too (Herrmann, Goldsmith etc).
This was great! Thanks for Posting! Danny is so great...he does seem humble and often times a little uncomfortable when people call him God or Genius...it makes me love him even more.
As far as I know, it wasn't aired on any TV channel. A friend who works at Warner told me about it (after the fact, unfortunately), so I came looking for it.
There are people who aren't great at one thing but good at a lot of things. Danny Elfman is a rare specimen who's great at a lot of things but sticks to only one.
Loved all of the information. But geez, "What is your most over rated or under rated movie score?" ????? What a dumb question. Been listening to Oingo and Mr. Elfman for a long time I liked the good questions.
really would of never thought that danny would listen to hip hop, or atleast that would be his frist choice, kinda funny. And ok dont resurrect Oingo boingo but just release another "Solo" Danny Elfman album.
There are many gifted musicians but only a handful of genuine musical geniuses. Elfman is a genius.

I agree.

I too have noticed how self-deprecating he is when interviewed. He is his own worst critic.

If I was in the crowd, I would have questioned to Danny "who do you want to be?" :)
is that an oingo boingo reference?
@@hirohikoaraki1768 yes

He wants to be just like someone on UA-cam ;)

Danny Elfman 1 1/2 Hour Interview by Jeff Bond - May 8th, 2012
I agree. And since I practically raised myself on him, I think we have that in common. :)
Genius.
does anybody know what tv channel this was shown on if it was shown on tv at all?
Does he speak about scoring "Silver Linings Playbook?" If so, what's the time mark? Thanks in advance.
I hate when they waste his time. My favorite was the "hilarious moments" question...
You turn a corner, and your life is going in a different direction. It turns on a dime.
Just watched this last night (*grin!*) It was great except for the stupid questioneers that don't do their research beforehand...
Elfman must be fairly well off financially by now yes? Yet he can't slow down a little and see his kid more than a few minutes a day now? Not good.
