    Lister.. best engine ever made. I have a 6/1 Listeroid, nowhere near as good finish as the real thing. But close as we can get in the US. Now we can't even import them anymore.

    Great engine good video!!!!!!
    Good compression for it to crank at that temp.

    This engine is also known as the " Puff Puff" and you can hear why... Granpa used to have one of this, and i can't listen to this sound without remember him.

    Beautiful sounding CS, you done well to get it started in that temperature, they're not an easy engine to swing.

    Beautiful Sound....what is the round knob you were adjusting towards the end ?

    • @furkotek
      @furkotek  7 років тому +10

      It's the compession changeover valve. High compression setting is used for starting and running with low load. Low compression stetting is used for high-load running. When the knob is screwed out an additional chamber is connected to the pre-chamber in the head thus reducing the compression ratio.

    nice engine, i have one too, do you set the cold start toggle on the fuel pump ?

  •  6 років тому +2

    Did you use any coolant at that temperature? I would guess at -13 this engine would easily do 5 mins without any coolant.

      The water jacket was empty of course. Running it for such short time does not make any harm.

    Somebody please tell me what is that large square head 2 inch diameter fine threaded plug below the injector that opens into the combustion chamber. NO video, website , manual ever mentions it .

      It's the changeover valve, for low and high compression - I think that's what your looking at.

    • @ashwynn4177
      @ashwynn4177 5 років тому +1

      @@JohnSmith-vi5pz thanks sir. I've heard that this valve has to be either fully in or out or the engine won't start. Do you know if this is true?

    • @JohnSmith-vi5pz
      @JohnSmith-vi5pz 5 років тому +3

      @@ashwynn4177 Well it needs to be screwed fully in (high compression) for the engine to start. Once it is running under load then you can screw it out to increase the chamber volume (low compression) It must be either in or out because it it is not seated then you get a Hissss Hisssss Hisssss from the little orficice at the bottom and from around the threads as it leaks compression away. If the engine is under heavy load then it will maybe still run but you get sparks and bits of flame leaking out - good in the dark!

    Does it work properly with load? What is the rating of this? kind of 8hp I guess?

    • @furkotek
      @furkotek  5 років тому +2

      Hi, It's 6hp version. Never tried this one with load but had similar in the past and it drove an alternator without issues.

      Hi, Used to use this version in pumping water, 10 to 20 meters deep, via 3 inches vertical turbine pump, and that used to work properly.

    • @furkotek
      @furkotek  7 років тому +1

      Cudo przyjechało z Anglii, podobnie, jak i reszta moich silników. Nie wiem do czego był używany w swojej ojczyźnie, ale pewnie z grubsza do tego, co nasze "esioki".
