    I tried many remedies. For me it was squirrels who built a nest in my engine bay, but thankfully caught it before damage was done. Moth balls that come in a plastic bag is what finally worked. The plastic bag has holes in it and the bag probably contains about 40 moth balls. The brand name is Enoz. I lay it right on the beauty cover and remove it when I drive the car. I tried peppermint oil mixed with water sprayed onto the engine bay and I tried predator urine spray around the perimeter of the car and sprayed the tires and neither of those methods worked. I even used our cat's used, dirty litter underneath the car in a plastic bag, and that didn't work either.

      Sounds like us. It's under car. They chewed 3 times same wires that turn engine sensor light on when chewed. $280 each time

    I use clove oil eucalyptus and tea tree oil. It works really good. If you add a couple drops of dish soap it will mix the oil into the water. Soap makes oil miscible in water...

      Is it flammable?

    • @christinaowens6433
      @christinaowens6433 2 роки тому

      @@martinlutherkingjr.5582 no because it's all immersed in water. A lot of oils are flammable like tea tree oil but we're only adding a few drops into a spray bottle filled with water.

    Thanks for the video.
    Just found a rat nest in my engine this morning. Hopefully they did not chew the wires yet. So some minor damage on one.
    Going out to put peppermint oil on it now.

    Popped my hood open today and my Camry's engine cover was all chewed and scratched up and the area smells like straight rat piss so going to grab me some peppermint oil today.

    Moth balls are the only thing that works. Just take open sacks of them, I use 4 sacks, and put under the hood. Take them out before driving and replace them again when the vehicle is parked.

    Is the oil you got actually oil, or is it watered down a lot? Can you tell the difference? Might buy it

    ⭐⭐ Is there any risk of having an engine fire? Peppermint oil is said to be very flammable & have a low flash point. But is this only as it's being sprayed but once on the engine in wet liquid form is safe? I was leary to do this because I was worried that once the engine heats up to normal operating temperature, the residue (liquid oil on engine) could then be combustible and burst into flames. Anyone know if this is a valid concern?

      Do you research. If you don't feel safe, don't do it.

      I have tried to research it but to no avail. I even talked with local fire department workers & they didn't know. Nothing on the internet connects the two. I get results saying that Peppermint oil is highly flammable...but then I get results of people saying to spray it on your engine but nowhere does it state about warning or dangers of mixing the two. So that's why I thought I would ask you (someone who had actually done it)....did you have any problems of fire, flames, etc..after you did this and drove the car to full heat up operating temperature ??
      If you did this and it safely worked, then it must be okay. I didn't know if the car in your video was yours or a friend's or customers or something that maybe you sprayed it and never seen the car again, to know if a problem came about. Is it a daily driven car?

    its amazing to me after watching vids like this of automobiles in all kinds of repairs,that people leave their engine bay in such a state of uncleanliness.like this one is just a mud pit.if you want your large investment like a car or truck to perform well and not show signs of premature wear and tear that seriously degrades the value and drivability..... clean the engine bay!.you will like it and your car will thank you for it and so will your wallet
