Suspension is the weak point of the surron, most people doing serious off road with them is wanting a Fox 40 up front and also a rear shock upgrade which if purchased new would cost you about $2k. I haven’t ridden the Sur Ron, but have been watching a ton of videos on the X with modifications. I put 82,000 kms on my Stealth Electric Bomber (#107) and I loved that bike so much. Someone tried to steal it at my wife’s condo basement and sawed through the frame seat and frame. I then lent the battery to my friend who killed it in a month riding in Montreal during the winter. I had an MX tire/rim on the back and Fox 40 shocks on the front with Shimano Saint brakes and I rode all four seasons over here in Canada. If I were to build a quiver to keep up with my young MX sons, I would get both along with a KTM electric free ride bike. The Stealth is in a class of it’s own, mostly due to the sequential shifting in the Suntour system. Everyone would ask me what it feels like to ride the Stealth and I would tell them it is similar to your best day downhill mountain biking and your best day riding a time trial road bike with elements of MX all mixed into one. The only issue I have with the Stealth is that it isn’t entirely weather proof, I had a ton of failures over the years and had to get flat deck towing trucks to pick me up. And of course, no one in their right mind would keep the stock rear tire/rim. Those tires wear out in weeks of hard riding. I like the Sur Ron because there are guys who are keeping up with MX guys and riding in snow/wet conditions in Idaho. With the Lightspeed upgrades, I could probably hold my own with serious 450 MX guys or my 5 year old son on level six of his Husky EE 5!

I think for most people either the Sur-Ron or the Enduro frame with a custom set up will be better value over the Stealth B52. I do think it's cool how Stealth have integrated the gearbox so you can pedal at high speed but I'd be happier with an e-moto setup without pedals. You can make those Enduro frames super quick with high power controllers which is more appealing to me. Of course the Sur-Ron also has those options too but then you have to buy the base frame too. Maybe you can sell the old controller and battery though. One of the main things I don't like about the Sur-Ron is the sound it makes, it sounds like a really loud remote control car. It's also a bit small for taller people like myself.
??? Stealth B52 is a bike from 2015-16 times, It was worth 10k then cause it was the fastest in the market. Idk about surrons, they are harder to modify as their motors are tiny and overheat real quick.
After owning & riding the 20 model B52 for the last 12 months I love it, it has handled everything I have thrown at it with no problems at all. It’s expensive but trust me it’s worth it and 2nd hand resale is crazy high if you want to sell it , thanks for the video.
Nothing with a damn hub motor is worth more than 2000$. It’s ridiculous they sell this piece of outdated tech and people are so stupid to buy it. The Motor needs to be in the Center of the bike to have good jumping and off-road abilities. Put that gear hub in your backwheel and the bike gets so much better. Every better eMTB gets this right, why can’t this „motorcycle“ company can do it? Ah yeah I forgot, they want to get maximal profit with minimal investments.. But if you have fun with it and don’t jump much or go heavy off riding, more power to you and enjoy your ride! Having fun is the only thing that matters in the end!
@@cosmicyt955 yeah you’re right, it seemed I was hungry when I wrote that comment, my apologies. But my point still stands, hub motors are a big no no no. Stealth Bomber is waaay overpriced - you can build your own for a third of the cost and more power. Mid-drive on Surron is a major advantage for off-road but lack of pedals is a disadvantage for street riding since it's basically a motorcycle no one is gonna register or insure. Surron with 72V battery & BAC8000 controller is a beast tho! really a matter of what your preference and application
The differences between an adjustable saddle over a seatpost is an absolutely huge difference between these bikes. The surron only fits short people. You have to understand the biomechanics of riding positions. Along with the pedals, the difference makes these two bikes completely incomparable.
I got both bikes. One thing I want to mention is the Surron comes with a horn and light. The B-52 doesn't. TL;DR Surron is the way better value of course and will be the bike for most people. The only reason I got the Stealth was the independent gearbox for the pedals. And the fact a dealer near me had it in stock, otherwise it would have been a multi week wait. My impressions of both bikes: (Wall of Text) Fenders: Surron came with a strap on fender for the front fork. Rear has a bit down below to reduce stuff getting flung at the suspension and a bit on the seat that kinda helps but my back would still get dirty. Stealth came with 0 and is honestly annoying. In addition the seat support has a hole and dirt/water can get flung up onto the mid section of bike not to mention the rear suspension and your back. It needs aftermarket solutions for dirt/water if you off road in messy conditions. Pedals: The Surron does have a pedal kit but it's stupid as hell. It is definitely an afterthought. And you can't use belt drive if you go that route. (I got belt drive initially on my Surron) You only have a single gear ratio and the seat height isn't adjustable so pedaling the thing is a PITA. But in some places you need to do it to be a legal bicycle. The Stealth has a much better pedal system. Gears 6-8 would be most useful on flat terrain. Gear 9 is when you want to add power at 25+ mph. 1st Gear is actually pretty useful to pedal up inclines. The shifting is pretty easy and has nice audible clicks. Plus you can switch gears without rotating the pedals. You shouldn't shift under heavy pedal load though. The chain doesn't have a guard so you got a be careful. I had baggy pants one time and the gear ate it up. I don't like how easy it is to change gears though. On rough terrain I have accidentally shifted gears. Height: Surron is way lower to the ground. On the Stealth I had the cut the seat down and I am still way higher up. I've heard people complain the Surron is too short and to me the Stealth is too high. Suspension: The suspension on the Surron came much softer. It felt way easier to move the bike up and down. The Stealth probably has a bit stiffer suspension because of the rear hub motor. Both have adjustable suspension though. Throttle Control: Surron has a full throttle handle and it works since you are most likely sitting solidly on the seat and resting on foot pegs. It also easily adjusts to the two preset power settings. Stealth has a half throttle and it takes some getting used to but I think it works with this bike. On rough terrain I'm mainly resting weight on the pedals and keeping my body off the bike seat. This would make throttle control very challenging if it wasn't a half throttle. Regen Braking: Surron basically has two regen modes out of the box. Econ has full regen and Sport barely any if at all. You basically use the throttle and ease off to get strong regen. Stealth has a big red button on the left side that activates full regen. I feel like Suron has better regen at lower speeds. Stealth seems to have no regen at ~16mph. Electronics: Surron has the little display on the left handlebar that shows current speed. Battery power is shown on the batter display on the midsection of the bike. It does have an odometer. Stealth comes with more sophisticated electronics. They also have a weird feature where you need to install a jumper on the electronics or the bike resets every time it's powered off. The default display shows battery, speed, and odometer. The next menu shows stats like temperatures, battery cycles, and a couple other bits of info. The third menu changes the settings of the bike. This is where you can switch from Eco mode and Competition mode. Unfortunately Eco mode is non adjustable but Competition is. Competition mode goes from 100w to 6.2kw and 25-90(lol) mph. I really like being able to adjust power because I can lower it to 100w and use it to assist going up stairs and offset it's 100lb weight. There is also the anti-theft code requirement that can be turned off or set to require a code every 1 day to a year. Battery: One thing I want to mention is the Surron's battery is super easy to access and take in and out. It could be useful to have multiple batteries and being able to swap them out for a long riding session. You just use the key to unlock the top hatch. Flick the breaker off and unplug two sets of wires and you can yank it out. Stealth needs an allen key wrench to take off the side panel to access the internals. Sound: Idk if it's just my bike or not but my Surron was a lot louder than I was expecting even with belt drive and at lower speeds ~12mph it had a noticeable cyclic noise to it. Stealth, like it's namesake would suggest was way quieter. I have accidentally startled pedestrians on the sidewalk. However, idk why the hell the Stealth is so damn expensive. Lots of people online have built their own similar bikes for way cheaper. Almost all seem to miss the gearbox though. The only reason I went Stealth was for full front and rear suspension, a high performance electric drive system, and a good pedal experience with a gearbox shifter. (Because I have started to hate derailers) I can use it in rough terrain and on the sidewalk and no one (Karens) will question me since I have pedals. The design of the Stealth is eye catching but it looks more like a regular bicycle than the Surron. Surron is a great e-moto with a terrible pedal add on and Stealth is a great bike with nice electronics. I would say Surron is mainly for off road use and can cheat a bit if you absolutely have to have pedals while Stealth is more for normal bike use that can go off road. Other places like Vector e-bikes and Qulbix have similar or better performance AND are cheaper. My only problem with them is their pedal options are either single gear setups or have a derailer.
The b-52 seems better but more than double the price is a bit much . I would love a suron , I already ride downhill mountain bikes and live close to the Canadian rockies . Both of them seem like so much fun .
I don't know anything about e-bikes, but it' looks like they're really coming along nicely. The cheaper one looks much better though. Would like to see a version of that with the more expensive electronics of the faster bike.
These aren't legally ebikes basically anywhere. These are electric motorcycles. Their motor power is far too high to be considered an ebike by any country that has regulations on them, including my home country of Canada. The technology is basically the same, but the distinction is important because, well, these guys are blasting through stop signs and drifting across lane markers and frankly I don't want the ebike community to be associated with this kind of dumbfuckery. Would bet money that these aren't insured too.
Wow! I predicted this when I asked you to ride/ willie my bike last week. Something IMMEDIATELY told me you would ride someone else's bike. I'm NOT salty about this of course, its just a sign that I really have power to speak things into existence. 😶 I still gave a like👍🏾 You are still the man😎
I definitely got to get an upgrade I just got my first e-bike and the power is no match for these two beasts....... now after watching this video I could tell you the B-52 is the solution for the job that needs to be done whether it's a long commute or out performing 125cc dirt bikes and even possibly 250cc dirt bikes depending on the ride, 6200 w incredibly light so much power what a truly amazing speed competition also also is just as quiet as a mouse excellent for a heightened sense of awareness which in return gives you more confidence to break the bike speed barrier avoiding some douchebag rapping the engine while running the stop sign🚸🏁🇺🇲🤫✌😎🥇
Stealth has a 2kwh battery, so less than 32ah.... more like 28. But the stealth has been around for like 10+ years, they've done some upgrades over the years but these days they're a bit out of date, and hubs generally suck off road, had both (though an upgraded fighter vs a bomber) and the surron is the better at the moment unless you want pedals or something more quiet. Way more potential with some upgrades too on the surron - by the time your 10k into a surron it'll kill the stealth in a heartbeat. But thats built/designed in china vs built/designed in the west (australia) for you.
The SurRon is 60v nominal (and 67v max), The Stealth is 84v max (72v nominal) though so its still a huge boost in power. The SurRon is pretty much 50/50 weight distibution front axle to rear axle so its super well balanced and can climb some crazy inclines.. I don't have scales, but the Stealth is definitely heavier in the rear and won't climb what the SurRon will. The Stealth gearbox is really good quality, but probably adds a few grand to the total price, so since the bike pretty much never comes out of 9th gear unless you're in sand, or out of battery (then you'll need 1st gear), it seems like a waste of money for a heap of gears you'll never use. I couldv'e sworn the Stealth was about 6lbs heavier too? If they were the same price, I'd still pick the Sur-Ron. They probably are the same price once you go 72v upgrade anyway. That's where it's at! 72v!
The Surron is probably better off road because of the mid drive motor. Bomber - Hub motors are heavy and don’t really like to be jumped; too much sprung weight.
with the stealth,it has a huge amount more speed and torque headroom with just a simple controller config, either buy usb bt dongle or usb to pc cable with software, the controllers can set up flux weeking ,power and torque curves the list of configs is huge .
I tried Stealth B-52 as test ride and impressed me too much. I cannot buy it . But I don't think other E bike can impress me so. It.s like Harley Davidson and Japanese cruisers. I like Harley Davidson more. Thanks for video
Have A Recon 20 kw hub motor goes just lightning fast it's good to know you can control the speed and have the weight behind you very aerodynamic for the size motor handle superbly going down a dirt trails very quick it's good to have the regenerative braking more power than you need on strait away as well up hill amazing the technology that has come out go anywhere two wheels will take you 👍
I actually like the look of the Surrun more and obviously I'm more comfortable with the price. Plus Im like 5'8 150lbs so I think the size would be perfect. I don't know much about e-bikes besides knowing I want one. My commute to work is like 10 miles and there's so many different ways I could go with one of these. I'd probably gets there faster than I would with a car which is crazy. There's a garage at work I could keep and charge it when needed. After reading alot of comments on different videos it's clear to me that theres alot i need to learn about.
What if the sur ron was fully upgraded with the bac 8000 and 4000 controller or whatever it is? I think that's the better way to go bro. Jack Cecils had his at 85mph or some shit crazy.
WAU cyber bike coming out soon, it has a range of 120 miles so it's better than these two you're reviewing but I think the Delfast top 3 smashes all of these out the water with its 200 mile range, top speed of 50 or 70 mph (can't remember). I'd love to see all four compared to each other in a drag race, range test, hill test, getting g some off a ramp, dropping of a platform and ridden down a flight of stairs
I like the ads on the B-52 but for getting into 5 figures I'd go Zero FX all the way. Since I just watched your video riding a Zero for the first time I'm betting you'd agree. lol
With less than 5k you can build a Bomber Style Ebike yourself much faster and more range than any of those, but DIY is not for everyone and demands a lot of work and a steep learning curve.
When buying straight out the door, does the Sur Ron already come clipped and tuned, or could I have another motor and controller installed before pickup?
The same spec and parts for Stealth from a-xpress is about $3k. They're overcharging but still has brand advantage from being one of the first good ones.
@@marcussmith4913 It's true the tough part is discerning which sellers are legit. The exported ebike stuff from China has been somewhat reliable, especially if you DIY.
One main problem with bomber, or any similar builds is their hub motor - it won't last long on offroad, and it makes suspension kinda useless bc of motor's mass
@Sur Ronster I'm actually building a custom Stealth Bomber Ebike with a 6kW mid-drive motor (Lightning Rod Big Block) and a 72v 51Ah battery (nominal). It is actually using Sur ron wheelset. In addition it has: Variable regen brake; Pedal assist; A street-legal light system (although im not getting a number plate); KTM Headlight, USB 3 charger plugs; 2x hydraulic disk brake rotors on the front + 1 rear brake rotor; 219H single stage drive train with 8 : 1 ratio (theoretical 210N.m. total torque) Frame is made by Eleek and it is sturdy, but a little on the heavy side 🤔 I hope I can get at least 80 miles of range, i have some stupidly long trips planned and it us possible ill be charging on the road...
In mountains: STEALTH is uncontrolled "brick" comparing to SURRON X, because it have a lot of weight on rear wheel. Definitely Surron is better with mid-drive, even if they both had the same price. Only street rider (without any jumps) can prefer STEALTH.

Stealth has been making these High power E-bikes for years before SurRon came along...
So?.....
No comparison B52 for me without question and it’s quality built.
They do sell pedals for the Surron, they're just not included
The differences between an adjustable saddle over a seatpost is an absolutely huge difference between these bikes. The surron only fits short people. You have to understand the biomechanics of riding positions. Along with the pedals, the difference makes these two bikes completely incomparable.
Exactly, one is a premium e bike the other is a baby electric dirtbike. Very different
@@axelgranzini6797 yes I got mine yesterday ....Wow
You can get a seat riser for the surron. Also, the 4M body kit/seat raises you up 0.6" and you can buy thicker foam to bump that up more.
My impressions of both bikes: (Wall of Text)
Fenders: Surron came with a strap on fender for the front fork.
Smile machines for sure! You guys had too much fun! 👏🏻

The Sur Ron is so so much cooler looking. Which definitely matters when the rest of the specs are so similar.
The specs are similar? are you watching the same video I am? The one where the stealth bomber smokessssss the Surron?
