If you look inside the mask, you'll see the head isn't actually filled with saws, but sharp, stylized cogs instead. This implies that this chair stuffs people inside animatronic costumes... Except they DON'T. Both the original nightguard and Mike get locked in the same chair and are attacked by the same mask, implying that this is purely a face shredding machine. I also want to know if the Fazchair is alive, considering we see its eyes move around.

This thing definitely exists to kill people, but I think the "official" reason for its existance is endoskeletons are meant to be placed on the chair. The saws connect with something on the animatronic skeleton's face and attaches that way and the reason you're bound to it when you're on it, is they're fastened, incase they're active, so they don't just move away I never took issue with the chair, cause I kinda figured, that's why it exists from day one and while the people who saw this, aside from Afton, might have been scared of it for how it looks, I doubt they imagined people actually being put in there Other comments also make good points that support this, like the "saws" being cogs.
I accept this idea, if only so I can imagine in my mind some poor dayshift worker becoming uncomfortable every time they find out they have to take off or back on the suit from the Endoskeleton. They have to learn this. That out there in that universe is someone having to take a beloved character backstage, lock them down onto a chair, and watch uncomfortably to the side as the shredder pulls out the mask or head or what-not. To add, imagine being an employee during the day with kids in the partyroom waiting for their show while you have to rush in the backroom with an active animatronic sitting in the chair trying to move or dance while the mask comes down to attach to its face. The employees are absolutely getting nightmares about being trapped in that chair if they have to do that.

Aren't the self-locking mechanisms scary/powerful enough to kill? -How is a bunch of buzzsaws supposed to connect a animatronic face to a suitless endoskeleton? Because clearly, those blades aren't meant to connect to anything. -Why aren't the animatronics stuffing the nightguard in the suits themselves? They're clearly strong enough, Freddy bit a whole ass person in half. -Why is the fazchair conveniently the size of a person and not an animatronic endoskeleton? -Why would you need to strap endoskeletons in a seat to put a suit on them in the first place?? Just turn the animatronic off, put the suit, turn it back on. -Hell, the fazchair mask isn't remotely close to what Freddy's head look like, why's it here in the first place? Conclusion: pointless torture device with no real world use, 2/10 would fire the engineer on the spot and call the police.
This video encapsulates why I don't like theorizing about fnaf anymore. My mind just starts saying to myself "Golden Freddy Shreddy Fazchair Michael Afton Happiest Day Andrew Sister Location 1985 Agony The Silver Eyes Remnant" and doesn't stop until I convince myself that FNAF 3 was the end of the series. Also, the picture people are saying is "guy working on the Shreddy Fazchair" looks to me just like someone working on one of the Springlock suits. The face is just the endoskeleton face on all the animatronics, and it has the springlocks on the torso.
To me, the thing that made FNaF so utterly terrifying is the idea that these machines aren't MEANT to kill, yet they are still capable of insane amounts of harm. I don't know if anyone else has ever toured a machine factory before, but just the feeling of being next to a 2 ton behemoth of moving parts that Does Not Know The Difference From Flesh And Steel And Does Not Care. Dying in FNaF 1 was so gruesome because you're literally having your entire body shoved into a space that it has no room to fit within by a robot that you have no hope of escaping or overpowering. By turning that fate into a generically dangerous "oooo buzzsaws!" it becomes so obviously meant to be frightening that it just isn't.

I think that Shreddy Fazchair is a repair table that they put animatronics on, like how you upgrade Freddy in SB. The Shreddy mask is probably an old unused prototype of Freddy's face with stupidly sharp gears as the face mechanism (probably why it was scrapped in the first place). Or it may be Fredbear's face instead, and this is the movie's interpretation of springlocks. Either that, or Afton repurposed a repair table and animatronic face into a Saw trap.

It’s probably to collect remnant but we probably shouldn’t need to guess why blatant stuff like this is here, I think this is apart of fnaf’s shift in tone of trying to be family friendly but also as a consequence needing to be more obvious it’s meant to be a horror franchise unlike the original games which were more creepy and dread filled experiences without having to try and be so outwardly scary.
I do find it funny how the Fnaf movie which is rated pg13 involves the franchise being toned down (I'm not contradicting you), but the books, which are written for 10 year olds are more gruesome and bloody than the games. I guess that's the "Warrior Cats problem" for you

They're less likely to read the kids books their children are reading. This is the "warrior cats problem" because those books are full of blood and violence, and thus can never be adapted for screen (the guardians of ga'hoole books are similar, and are hella toned down for the movie)

At this point IDC about anything in the lore actually being concretely solved, imho bring on more of the goofy stuff, a torture chair that can teleport like Golden Freddy, possessed by Phone Guy, blipping around and trying to grab people and lock them in would be SICK. Also imagine Mike's paranoia about everything having the ability to come to life, in most FNAF official stuff its contained solidly to humanoid forms like dolls and whatnot, but the Fazchair would break that rule and call everything into question. Compare the Shreddy Fazchair to the laser room from the first Resident Evil film. It might've been pointless for the hallway to shoot lasers when it could've just diced everyone with one laser grid, but at least it's established that the hallway is designed to be a booby trap by Umbrella Corporation as a form of defence for the Hive. It ends up being world-building in addition to being a gory scene, and of course it brought the world Seizure of Power. The Shreddy Fazchair feels like an edgy saw trap for the sake of being an edgy saw trap, and the more you look at it's design the less it makes sense from a world-building standpoint. Why are their sharp cogs designed to cut your face off in the mask? Why did William design it this way if it wasn't being used as a blatant torture device?
Why is this a thing? My calculated assertion: marketing? Hear me out. To a wider audience, aka people that aren't fazballs deep in the FNaF lore, the visual of a Freddy-shaped Saw trap is very good shorthand that these animatronics are dangerous and horror-related. The infamous red eyes are also shorthand for 'evil robot' (HAL 9000, Terminator, Ultron, etc etc)
I honestly think it might be Golden Freddy, yes. We’ve seen the Spring Bonnie of the film’s world, but not the Spring Freddy, even though we know there’s supposed to be one (cause it would really suck to call a place “Fredbear’s” if Fredbear ain’t even there). If this animatronic was once a Spring series one, the Jigsaw engineering makes a little more sense too. It doesn’t take much to imagine a version of the Fazchair where the blades are animatronic motors and servos instead, coiled and pushed haphazardly to the sides. I believe the Phone Guy was simply killed through use of the Fazchair then disposed of in another way as opposed to being stuffed. I never read the books, but doesn’t Agony/Remnant come from only children, hence why they keep disappearing around William? If that’s so, Will tossing PG’s body instead of stuffing it makes sense cause the adult soul isn’t gonna leave anything behind. The pixellation on that scene is interesting too, like you said. It’s like Blumhouse is laughing at us, Scott with his hand on their shoulder, pointing at the audience. They’re intentionally obfuscating these details, because if they’re vague enough they can do or not do whatever they want with them. Scott’s been doing this since the genesis, and I don’t think him stepping down from the head role gave him any revelations in that regard (that one’s for all my Christian readers out there, like Scott).

It’s probably to collect remnant but we probably shouldn’t need to guess why blatant stuff like this is here, I think this is apart of fnaf’s shift in tone of trying to be family friendly but also as a consequence needing to be more obvious it’s meant to be a horror franchise unlike the original games which were more creepy and dread filled experiences without having to try and be so outwardly scary.
I do find it funny how the Fnaf movie which is rated pg13 involves the franchise being toned down (I'm not contradicting you), but the books, which are written for 10 year olds are more gruesome and bloody than the games.

He also gives a very vivid description of what getting springlocked feels like (in silver eyes William keeps getting springlocked and revived by remnant) Charlie sustains multiple wounds. There's a Fazbear Frights story about a girl with body dsymorphia replacing her body parts with trash and an illusion disc, and then she finds a pile of her own limbs.
You can get away with a lot of graphic violence in kids books, because every individuals own mind will censor it to their own limitations. Additionally, it's often parents who are more upset when they see fictional violence against kids, and get scared and offended on their kids' behalf. They're less likely to read the kids books their children are reading. This is the "warrior cats problem" because those books are full of blood and violence, and thus can never be adapted for screen (the guardians of ga'hoole books are similar, and are hella toned down for the movie)

At this point IDC about anything in the lore actually being concretely solved, imho bring on more of the goofy stuff, a torture chair that can teleport like Golden Freddy, possessed by Phone Guy, blipping around and trying to grab people and lock them in would be SICK.
Also imagine Mike's paranoia about everything having the ability to come to life, in most FNAF official stuff its contained solidly to humanoid forms like dolls and whatnot, but the Fazchair would break that rule and call everything into question. Imagine him like having a breakdown and begging for answers from another of those tiny Balloon Boy statuettes.

Compare the Shreddy Fazchair to the laser room from the first Resident Evil film. It might've been pointless for the hallway to shoot lasers when it could've just diced everyone with one laser grid, but at least it's established that the hallway is designed to be a booby trap by Umbrella Corporation as a form of defence for the Hive. It ends up being world-building in addition to being a gory scene, and of course it brought the world Seizure of Power. The Shreddy Fazchair feels like an edgy saw trap for the sake of being an edgy saw trap, and the more you look at it's design the less it makes sense from a world-building standpoint. Why are their sharp cogs designed to cut your face off in the mask? Why did William design it this way if it wasn't being used as a blatant torture device?

Why is this a thing? My calculated assertion: marketing? Hear me out. To a wider audience, aka people that aren't fazballs deep in the FNaF lore, the visual of a Freddy-shaped Saw trap is very good shorthand that these animatronics are dangerous and horror-related. The infamous red eyes are also shorthand for 'evil robot' (HAL 9000, Terminator, Ultron, etc etc)

I honestly think it might be Golden Freddy, yes. We’ve seen the Spring Bonnie of the film’s world, but not the Spring Freddy, even though we know there’s supposed to be one (cause it would really suck to call a place “Fredbear’s” if Fredbear ain’t even there). If this animatronic was once a Spring series one, the Jigsaw engineering makes a little more sense too. It doesn’t take much to imagine a version of the Fazchair where the blades are animatronic motors and servos instead, coiled and pushed haphazardly to the sides.
I believe the Phone Guy was simply killed through use of the Fazchair then disposed of in another way as opposed to being stuffed. I never read the books, but doesn’t Agony/Remnant come from only children, hence why they keep disappearing around William? If that’s so, Will tossing PG’s body instead of stuffing it makes sense cause the adult soul isn’t gonna leave anything behind. The pixellation on that scene is interesting too, like you said. It’s like Blumhouse is laughing at us, Scott with his hand on their shoulder, pointing at the audience. They’re intentionally obfuscating these details, because if they’re vague enough they can do or not do whatever they want with them. Scott’s been doing this since the genesis, and I don’t think him stepping down from the head role gave him any revelations in that regard (that one’s for all my Christian readers out there, like Scott).
