‘Birds’ probably has the most confusing making story - they called Robert Pattinson to play guitar on it because he was a long time fan of Death Grips. They talked and made music all day and after that they went out of studio just to stumble into Beyonce and take a photo with her. That’s right. There is a group photo of DG, Robert Pattinson and Beyonce.
To this day, that photo is one of my favourite photos ever. Such a clashing of different worlds all coming together in one of the most hilariously out of context gatherings put into a single photo.

This is the album that got me introduced and obsessed with death grips, i was really young when it came out but it left me with such a massive impression, it completely changed the way i listened to music, it made me want to keep searching for new sounds, new different boundary pushing shit, i love it, i love dg haha, they're what made me descend into this weird extensive rabbit hole that's obscure internet music.
11:09 Glad you pointed out the delivery on both of those tracks, the second verse on Anne Bonnie is so violently raw. I definitely agree with your assessment of the album as something that is more light and fun, with a lot of the electronic influences and since so many of the tracks are just exploring these very different vibes with some bangers and some more ambient and moodier sections. You can tell that GP picks up after NLDW's minimal production and repetitiveness but it's more concentrated, and missing a lot of Ride's vocals, but since it's focused on putting you in a space rather than taking your attention to a specific element, it works a lot better, imo. Fuck Who's Watching is such a special track, it's definitely one of the most memorable closers to a DG album.
Thanks pal, I enjoy trying to make it go along with the music and how I feel when listening. And those are two immaculate tracks, they're in my top three of this album, plus Birds.
Most people don’t like “Government Plates” but I personally think it’s their best album besides “Steroids” if you want to listen to it on the go (or introduce to Death Grips someone who’s into IDM). A friend of mine called it “Andy Morin benefit” and I agree. It has strong “walking down the street preparing to skin a pack of carrots and eat them raw on Red Square” vibes.
I used to not like this album that much, but as I kept listening over the years it has slowly became my favorite Death Grips album. Such a unique sound
The Money Store was the most recent album when I got heavily into the group so each release since has a special place in my heart. Looking forward to seeing what you think of this one.
strange yet powerful album. some of the best and also the worst Def Grips tracks. also has the most profanity in terms of overall word usage of any album
I loveee Government Plates just because of how WEIRD it is, like death grips scratches a really specific itch for me right? And GP scratches an even more specific itch. Anne Bonny is easily DG's best, dirtiest, gnarliest, filthiest track. (Sounded sick live too)
birds is still the absolute weirdest song they've done still even with the whole of year of the snitch being so absurdist this probably is my least favorite album of theirs, besides the instrumental albums (which are still worth checking out especially fashion week) but its still pretty great, they just never miss even though originally I thought this album was one. Imagine if they had gotten a beyonce feature on the album too…

Your editing is so simple but you make it work so well 😂
Also Anne Bonny and Track 1 are top 10 DG

Haven't seen the whole review, but just in case you didn't know, and because everyone needs to know: Robert Pattinson does the guitar in Birds.

Another death grips album let's goo. Btw congrats on 500 subs :D
Thank you!!
Again, I love the amount of energy you put into your videos.

Strange is absolutely the best word for it. Love the Daron profile pic btw
Whatever i Want video is amazing
Anne Bonny is my fav
I think Birds just has the edge for me, but Anne Bonny is a close second. Easily has one of Ride's best vocal performances.
@@lizzieswaders Oh yeah for sure, love me some screams.
Birds is cool, I rly like it's kind of "glittery" atmosphere

Glad you did their greatest album in my opinion, pretty underrated
BOB ROSS IS WATCHING
Robert Pattinson on Birds go crazy
cant wait for yots :3
Big House is one of my favs on this. But damn, this album is dope. Definitely underrated/overhated.

90? wow
seems like you'd be into dissonant, maybe even avantgarde type music

i take the “shittiness” of this album as purposeful. it’s the empty album
This album kinda sounds like it was made by person with ADHD 💀
I LOVE GOVERNMENT PLATES AND GMAIL (you should listen to gmail)
