Great review straight to the point and simple and covers the facts that matter.

Perfect. The exact two bottles I was trying to decide between! I thought only the camels had that jet valve. Yay!

Great review, this is exactly what I was looking for. Need new bottles for road biking.

Glad it was helpful! I've grown to prefer the Polar bottle mostly because of the valve. The CamelBak is more difficult to use.

I just got two Polar bottles in 24 oz. I’ve used Camelback Podium as well. My problem with the Podium is leaking valve. If they aren’t transported upright there is sticky goo on my floor mats. Rubber so they’re okay but still. Further, while riding if you shake the bottle to mix powders it will spray. Summer is coming on strong so I’ve started freezing one bottle and filling the second with ice cubes. The frozen one stays cold for several hours in direct sunlight. The camelback valves get nasty with what looks like mold. That’s the final straw (pun intended) pushing me to try something else. Polar valves are very easy to dissemble. We’ll soon see how they compare in real world daily use. Thank’s for your vid.

Let me know how you like them. I prefer them and like how easy it is to clean the valve. As far as insulation, they're really about neck and neck. I just throw some ice cubes in my water, about half full and it keeps the water refreshingly cool for a couple hours. Naturally the hotter the day the less time it takes for the water to warm up. But my rides are usually no. longer than 2-3 hours.

@@michaelerbreviews well today’s ride was about two hours and first one with the new Polar Bottles. Water stayed cold half full of ice cubes, the rest distilled water and hydration tab/powder. I ride a recumbent trike with two cages between my legs with caps pointing toward me which make it easy to reach while moving. The center ridge is smooth on the Camelbak Podium which makes ingress/egress much easier. I would never have noticed except side by side when I got home. I may use the cap from the Polar on the Podium bottle for that reason. Otherwise I found i had to do a bit of a rotation to get the bottle out of the cage. Tight is good, too tight, not so much. Take care brotha.

Just bought 2 of them for the upcoming cycling season...glad to see they work like I was hoping. Thanks for your time and efforts! I too had the older style Polar Bottle.

Thank you, I was honestly having trouble figuring out the nozel on the polar bottle

Camel bak bottles are difficult to clean the nozzles ... how’s the polar bottle when cleaning the valve...excellent review, love the fact that it’s made in the U.S :)

Sydbius I actually think the Camelback nozzle isn’t very difficult to clean. It comes completely apart. But it does require more steps. The polar bottle nozzle simply twists out for easy cleaning and is much easier actually.

Have you compared the Camelbak Ice to the Polar Breakaway? It is supposed to keep liquids cooler longer than the Chill.

I have not used the Camelbak Ice bottle. What I can presume is that while there may be a very marginal improvement in keeping water a little colder for a slightly longer period of time, the real-world difference is probably not very significant. Putting that aside, I prefer the Polar bottle primarily because of its valve is easier to remove and clean. The scant amount of insulation in either of these bottles is not going to really extend the cold temperature or time it remains cold much in 95 degree rides. After an hour or less you'll end up with hot water no matter which you use. Freezing your 2nd or 3rd filled water bottle will provide more long-lasting coolness.

I would like to see the same test but with chilled water to see how much it heats up in an hour!

I’ve been using these insulated bottles for over 10 years. Where I live temperatures can climb easily into the 90s and low 100s. These bottles only help keep your water cooler during about the first hour. They’re definitely not like using a thermos but they do help stave off drinking hot water for a while. Don’t expect miracles. I usually fill my bottles half with crushed ice and the other half with water to help. Gives me a little more time of cool drinking. I will say the first couple sips from a really cold water bottle on a very hot day is quite nice. Good luck.

Juan Martinez has a VS review and in his test of insulation the Camelback wins by a bigger margin, the Polar bottle was completely thawed and the Camelback still had ice....Made in China....hmmm...i think Made in USA is not a big point for me.

Stephen Ang The Camelback bottle being white is not going to not absorb as much solar energy as the polar bottle. I don’t freeze my water bottles solid before I ride. I need water to drink quickly, not a block of ice. I think the insulation capabilities in both bottles are similar. Maybe the camelback wins in the solid block ice situation. In my tests the difference was not that significant. I prefer the valve on the Polar bottle. The Camelback valve lock is too difficult to turn with one hand. The polar bottle valve/lock has a simple push pull design and the valve can easily be pulled out just with my teeth while I’m riding. The valve can more easily be removed for cleaning on the Polar bottle whereas the Podium Chill has a more complicated 3-piece design. Considering all the factors I choose the Polar Bottle. And I prefer to buy USA when possible for many reasons.

I have old Camelbak water bottles that have a much better nozzle design. I have 2 that are about 10 years old. The nozzle is similar but you technically don't need to open or close. I always keep the nozzles in the open state, and can hold them upside down without leaking water. I'm here, looking at reviews, because I'm trying to find new ones, and Camelbak seems to be gone down hill since, probably from years of chinese influence. Even my 10 year old Camelbak bottles were made in china.

but that's exactly how the new ones work too! I don't know why this dude talked about "one handed-locking" as if you put the bottle inside your backpack after every sipp you take.
You don't need to lock anything on the bike, it's spill proof, but if you don't know if it gets squashed in your backpack, then it's a good idea to lock
