I think this is currently one If the best low cost no compromise builds. You get windows 11 support, avx512, many cores, many treads, gen4 SSDs and a very low power consumption.

I really appreciate this excellent review. I have been looking for a successor to my x99z v102 w/ e5-2640v3. It has served me well since the fall of 2020. This seems like an affordable upgrade. This board appears to be decent. I only wish turbo boost could be permanent but it wouldn't be too hard to launch the app before gaming. Thanks again! P.S: I wonder if iEngineer could somehow integrate the turbo boost into a custom bios. He seems to be talented with that sort of thing.

Nice review ! I have a strange irrational aversion to soldered CPUs for desktop computers though ! Like you say the price is very bad, for the same money I could get a cheap motherboard like the ASRock H610M-ITX/ac and an i3-12100. Still an interesting build and it's good to consider all options, maybe the manufacturer will cut the price in future.

Hey, I got one of these a few months ago and I have some info to add. I will edit as watch the video
It does not consume 65 watts, it's 45 watt sustained and during short boost, it draws up to 150 watts
You can use higher than 3200 because the board supports xmp, it's how I was able to set my ram speed. 3200 is intels spec, but xmp was made by Intel to let you go above the normal speed to the spec of the ram you bought.
You can overclock the cpu very easily by undervolting. Lower voltage means lower wattage, it will run at the highest clock speed it can for the target tdp, the lower the voltage, the higher the clocks. I have gotten the all core turbo to the max 4.6 ghz and all core sustained clock speed at about 3.85 ghz.
I think to use your tdp settings you need to enable ctdp, and you shouldn't change the turbo tdp, the max is way higher than 65 and you need to match the turbo tdp to see the best performance. I only played a little bit with these settings, so I don't know if they work completely. Overclocking via undervolt does though.
The motherboard does say it supports Sata m.2 via auto switching, though I've never gotten one to work. Not that big of a deal though.
Your cinebench score looks to be about 12k, I'm getting about 15.5k on my setup, your slowed down by your thermals and your tdp settings are limiting the speed of your cpu. Even before my overclock I was getting around 14k.
4 memory slots only sometimes improve performance if you have a quad channel memory controller, this cpu only has 2 memory channels like every consumer cpu on the market so your getting the max possible performance.
More sticks does not mean more bandwidth when you populated both channels.
It seems like you are having some gpu issues, your utilization is low. The cpu is not the bottleneck, you could be dealing with some driver issues or windows issues at this point.
You said 360 euro for your board, which is crazy.
I got mine for 250 usd total (including shipping and taxes) and it arrived in just under a month. Seems like you picked a bad seller, I got mine from ebay new but it was the same seller that was selling these on Ali express. For the same amount of money you couldn't even get an i3 and a 12th gen motherboard.
Plus, the 12100's cinebench r23 multi core score is HALF of what I'm getting with my i7-11800H. If it costs more, and I'm getting half the performance, I would rather get the cheaper Chinese solution. Once again, 250$, 50$ for the ram, that's 300$ for a functional system besides a power supply and stuff like an ssd.
It's worked great for me, only issues I've been having are related to my AIO cooler and the fact someone filled it with horrible coolant that clogs the microfins.

Saw this on Taobao, but at 1339 RMB, it's too overpriced for what it is.
It might be more reasonable if the motherboard wasn't so barebones, or better, if the CPU was socketed like the LGA 1151 mutants. But I guess it couldn't be done since 11th gen mobile CPUs are 10 nm Tiger Lake instead of 14 nm Rocket Lake.
There are 10th gen non-ES mutants out now, which use LGA 1200 (B460), but only a few specific motherboards can be modded at the moment. I don't see the point, though, since 10th gen has zero IPC improvement over 9th, still doesn't support PCI-E 4.0, and still tops out at 8C/16T on the laptop.

Update: I think I've worked out what has caused the bootloop. Everytime I turn on Hyper-V it sends me into a bootloop, I was able to force a reversal by going into safe mode with networking. I thought Windows 11 was the issue but looks like when I turned on Hyper-V in Windows 10 that is most likely the culprit rather than Windows 11 updates. Don't think I want to spend anymore time trying to work out how to solve the issue, I'll just have to live without Hyper-V on this machine

Might be worth watching the Brazilian guys with auto translated cc. Some of the info in this video is misinformation. I'm not calling you out saying you didn't try. I'm saying the info you are reporting isn't accurate. I've seen some folks have the intel box cooler in these and well as TDP is unlocked. It was incorrectly entered. This board comes with some seriously confusing bios but most functions that one requires is there.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  Рік тому

There are multiple versions of the IHS, some (like mine) are too high, others are properly sized, that's why our info differs. Regarding the TDP, I can't say much without retesting. I have tried all possible options and it was totally ignored. Could be that I didn't try the right value, but also could be that my particular sample has such behavior.

Right, after correct settings (150000) CPU consumes up to 109W (reported by HWINFO, under FPU stress test of AIDA). VRM is weak here (heated to 90+ degrees on small radiators), extra direct cooling on VRM is necessary for such loads.
