A stunt double breaks his neck while filming a 7.7 billion dollar franchise and needs a charity event to pay for his medical bills? That's is shameful. The studio should have compensated him.
@@MichaelMa There's insurance but it doesn't pay enough for the more serious injuries in most cases. But yeah, like you said, if someone doesn't want to do it without full coverage they'll just get someone else.
Robyn Twomey oh shit up. They do the least film related thing on screen. No acting, no writing. I won't demean their work, I respect them, but their contribution is purely physical. That's not what makes a film good.
Shit up huh? I don't think thats even possible. They don't just contribute physicality. They are willing to risk their lives to integrate reality into a movie. They are a big part of making "movie magic". Mad Max is one of the best action films of this decade because 90% of it was practical stunt work. To say thats not worthy of an award is foolish.
It's shocking that a woman lost her arm and was left terribly deformed just to film a short forgettable scene in that awful incomprehensible pile of garbage that is Resident Evil Final Chapter.
The story about Olivia Jackson hit a nerve because she did everything she was supposed to and then faulty camera gear caused her such pain and suffering. I don't think any movie is worth the death of a crew member. However, it really sucks when stunt performers put so much on the line to make a shit movie like Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
The problem is some stunt devils are part of the union and some are aren't. Believe it or not in Hollywood they always want crew and stunt devils that are not unionized.
I can't imagine the pain the doubles suffered while recovering. My heart goes out to these people, and it's a miracle they survived. May the Spirits watch over you, always.
My God I have even more respect for stunt doubles.. RIP to all those SDs who died for our entertainment and for those still alive still doing it be safe.
While I understand this to be reality. This is beyond depressing. Makes me wonder if this is something that needed to be explored? For myself I have to say... A big... No!
Yeah. Those two words should never be used in the same sentence. Hearing that made my spinal cord just want to say "F it I'm outta here!" and flee my body.
That wouldn't have been a very smart move for him though. People harass celebrities and lottery winners for money all the time. If he had just covered the bill then that would have made the news instead of the auction, and suddenly all these people are trying to get in touch with all kinds of stories about their debts and illnesses and 48 children who they support who are also all dying of some rare cancer, thinking he might just pay them off too. Some of them might even be true, but a lot of the time people just want to dip into someone else's pockets and are willing to go to some pretty disgusting lengths to do so. Far better to put some sought after items up for sale to those who are happy to pay for them than risk diving into that kind of water.
somethimes celebrities do stuff in secret for people that doesnt need to make the news I just think why hold a charity auction when Radcliffe has more then enough to pay the medical bills just say heres 3 million because you broke your neck for a stunt I would otherwise be doing
uhh no radcliffe would never be doing the stunt... it's not his job and no director would force their stars to do stunts. also, radcliffe is under no obligation to pay for his stunt's medical bills - this should be covered by insurance, which the production company should've paid for. stunt insurance would be immensely expensive though, so sometimes they decide not to pay the insurance - in which case they should definitely still cover the medical bills since they're gambling with the stunt crew's life. i'm not sure why radcliffe had to do a charity auction for the stuntman, feels like the film company fucked them over somehow. it's not like the harry potter movies didn't rake in billions, how could they justify not paying the stuntman's bills?
greg20067 I know David because I work in the stunt industry and he looks forward to the auction every year, they always all play cricket after too. It's really good for him to see people still care even several years on
Really a hats off to the stunt team guys. The unsung forgotten heroes from back unit. They risk their life to give a perfect stunt for the success of a action movie and in return they r not much appreciated for their work. I really feel bad for those guys who lose their life during performing those dangerous stunts during movies shoots. May their soul R.I.P whom have lost their life during their job.
Man of Steel was actually a very good movie. And your complaint is that it is exactly like Batman Begins? WHAT? It's not even remotely like Batman Begins. You need to actually PROVE POINTS, not just assert them and call it a day.
Recently on the filming of Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, BC, stuntwoman SJ Harris lost control of her motorcycle during filming and crashed into a nearby building killing her. This serves how dangerous stunt work can be. The stunt people, the special effects artists and all other technicians behind the camera are the real stars of the movie and not always the performer in front of the camera. I wish Ms. Harris had better safety instructions about dealing with stunts that could be fatal. She could have avoided that tragic accident and still be alive.
actually they just need to plan their stunts wayyyy better. most stuntwork involves a lot of backup plans and safety precautions - the ones that cause horrific accidents seem to be poorly planned with insufficient safety. if the stunt crew decides they don't mind gambling with the odds, that's their freedom; but a stuntman should always have the right to refuse any stunt they feel is unsafe.
In today time? lol. Very very rare. Top movies are usually action movies. Top selling movies are usually the most brutal ones or the marvle ones. Sometimes I even look at the characters in those movies and think they have more character development along with more realistic characters than the fifty shades series, which people seemed to like as a book, but not as a movie. In fact a lot of books turned movie today aren't really loved as much as back in the day. So for them to make an original story with just some story and non of the gimmicks of action, horror, or randomness is asking a lot. However, it's still possible. I can't name a good movie without a gimmick that comes close to 12 angry men that was made 2016-2017, but since liking movies is based on opinion, I wont say that there wasn't one. Maybe one of you guys know of one. Personally, If I want story, I read nowadays(something I just got into a few years ago) Back in the 90's when I was kid movies just seemed so much better. It seemed like they were less predictable too. Maybe that's just cause I was a kid. Maybe movies that weren't either action or comedies have always been bad. . . Then again, I have people decades older than me that tell me the same thing.
Even if they knew the consequences, it is still bad what happened to them, they try to entertain people by risking their lives that might be filled with unbearable pain and even death. These guys are one of the people that everyone rarely mention
Wait a minute. He was working on like that 7th Harry Potter film n you hold an auction? Y'all could have paid for his bills yourselves. Wow. We are going to keep our $$ but give him some of yours.
I thought Olivia Jackson was from South Africa? She was born in Cape Town South Africa but her work is uk-based. Really powerful, strong and inspiring woman.
It's particularly sad (and embarrassing) when a stuntman/woman suffers a life-altering injury for the sake of yet another lazy, CGI-laden bubble-gum flick that nobody will be talking about next year.
Late to the game, I remember Hangover 2 just coming out. They had a trailer with Ed Helms character in a car, and while sticking his head out the window hit another car. It was hilarious at the time, and I always wondered how they did it, as it looked so realistic. Then I found out it was real, the stunt double did get hurt and I felt a little sick to my stomach. I always wondered why they left that sickening shot in the original trailer for Hangover 2, however once the movie was released they must have changed the scene slightly/edited it out because I have never seen it since. If anyone could clarify this for me, that would be great. The stunt double is Scott Mclean that hit his head and received permanent injuries. Terrible thing to happen. What happened to the lady having an amputation was awful as well. Hopefully stunt people will be treated to a higher standard for making movies better (CGI just doesn't cut it sometimes).
Olivia Jackson the stunt woman who was injured on set for resident evil is a strong woman. They ended up amputating her arm and the scumbags from the film screwed her over and didnt even pay her medical bills . She is finally talking about it now and is taking them to court with a full lawsuit. Its disgusting what they put her through!!!
Stunt doubles who get severely injured should be paid millions in damages by the studios. That way studios will think twice about what they make those poor people do!!!
Imagine losing your arm making a film as terrible as a Resident Evil movie... Jesus Christ sometimes I lose perspective on how much is work is put into films that I otherwise disregard or even make fun of
Do NOT forget the horrible accident filming The Twilight Zone. the directors want more, bigger, faster and short shooting times. Tom Cruise just broke his ankle shooting a stunt. There was a stunt man killed in a film about a rigged lottery(forget its name) hey told the widow they would not use the footage in the movie, guess what they lied, do not forget the Movie The Crow
There is a stunt in robocop2 that I always wondered if the stuntman was hurt or not but never found anything about him being so. The scene is when "Robo" was hanging on the drug van, it goes through a building and you can see the stuntman fall down right in front of the tires.
Military and health care, soldiers and nurses, they do all the dirty work and the doctors and politicians take all the credit, lol that didn't take too long, did it?
Some of these were the stuntmans fault, so you cant always get away with blaming the film people, or other such individuals. But i understand the need for them to be truly recognized, so they can be cared for after suffering injuries as much as possible.

Not including the recent one with the deadpool 2 as I'm assuming it is either too recent or just that you can't show any clips as the movie has not been released yet.

A stunt double breaks his neck while filming a 7.7 billion dollar franchise and needs a charity event to pay for his medical bills? That's is shameful. The studio should have compensated him.
Hollywood doesn't care about nobody it's really sad
If you do this work i think u should have at least an insurance lol
or at least any of the millions dollars earning actors.
My guess it's the competitive nature of the business. Who's willing to sign to do more for less and the least liability.
@@MichaelMa There's insurance but it doesn't pay enough for the more serious injuries in most cases. But yeah, like you said, if someone doesn't want to do it without full coverage they'll just get someone else.
This is why these people deserve Oscars for their contribution to film.
They're so under-appreciated.
But if they use CGI you guys will be the first to complain..
Robyn Twomey oh shit up. They do the least film related thing on screen. No acting, no writing. I won't demean their work, I respect them, but their contribution is purely physical. That's not what makes a film good.
Shit up huh? I don't think thats even possible. They don't just contribute physicality. They are willing to risk their lives to integrate reality into a movie. its not about how crazy it is. Its about how seamless it fits into the film. At least thats how I would judge them
It's shocking that a woman lost her arm and was left terribly deformed just to film a short forgettable scene in that awful incomprehensible pile of garbage that is Resident Evil Final Chapter.
literally bought the dvd, skipped tot hat part, watched it and then threw it out. She deserves that scene to be seen.. nothing more
SESH RainbowSix
DVD?
Prototype *Yep Bluray is more expensive*
Why not just pirate it that shit is free lmao
Why do you need to mention women
The story about Olivia Jackson hit a nerve because she did everything she was supposed to and then faulty camera gear caused her such pain and suffering. I don't think any movie is worth the death of a crew member. However, it really sucks when stunt performers put so much on the line to make a shit movie like Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Resident evil tfc also killed a crew not just injured her
Well that was depressing
Chuck Norris my thoughts exactly
Chuck Norris Chuck Norris doesn't get depression. Depression gets Chuck Norris.
ari cat 😂😂
Chuck Norris I was just about to comment this
say word son
There should be a union for stunt doubles.
there is... accidents just happen.
The problem is some stunt devils are part of the union and some are aren't. Believe it or not in Hollywood they always want crew and stunt devils that are not unionized.
"to help him pay for his medical bills!?"
Why the Hell was his medical bills NOT paid for in the first place?!!!
WTF?!
ikr? You would think a stuntman is insured during his work, greedy bastards!
Well said young lady
I feel so awful for Olivia Jackson. Those injuries are horrific.
Mr4theLulz1 *The one in the Hangover, was worst he looked like a kid, he couldn't speak well or walk, he suffered BRAIN DAMAGE*
pianotm may she heals n keep str0ng.
Marvel's CGI is saving lifes
CJ636C65 literally
CJ636C65 pretty sure cgi in amy movie is saving life
CJ636C65 deadpool....
Right now I just wan to see CGI now in all movies
Stuntmen/Stuntwomen the unsung heroes/heroines of the movies.
Camilla B and they're still not given any award category - no Oscar/BAFTA/ Golden Globe
Camilla B wtf stop seperating male and female. its stuntmen and heroes. nothing else
Darcey Yeah sadly.
Here Come Dat Boi Relax. Why the hostile vibe?
Heroine is a hell of a drug.
I can't imagine the pain the doubles suffered while recovering. My heart goes out to these people, and it's a miracle they survived. May the Spirits watch over you, always.
Mikaela Nielsen and may the force be you
Agree 100%. Also I like your icon, best starter of gen 6
Hail CGI !! only pixels get hurt
Why is a stunt double not as worth as an actor?they risk their lives and health-they should get the oscars and other awards
seems like acting is a bigger talent than the risk
Lu Nguyen *The same way a bodyguard does*
And who would get it? The person taking the highest risk? The incentive would be bad.
Well ..They agree to do it ..even knowing they don't get pay a lot...
This is horrible
Really makes a person appreciate the risk that stunt people take :(
This is why you always need a stunt triple.
PowahSlap Entertainmint i read that as "stunt nipple" 😂
lmao
My God I have even more respect for stunt doubles.. RIP to all those SDs who died for our entertainment and for those still alive still doing it be safe.
And Yet Tom Cruise broke his ankles.
what about jackie chan :) ? he did all the stunts by himself!
Still want to complain about bad cgi?
yes
While I understand this to be reality. This is beyond depressing. Makes me wonder if this is something that needed to be explored? For myself I have to say... A big... No!
A. Degloved. Face. Sweet baby Jesus.
In-fucking-deed
Yeah. Those two words should never be used in the same sentence. Hearing that made my spinal cord just want to say "F it I'm outta here!" and flee my body.
Yeah I did a google image search for that. Very regretable, don't recommend.
Bethany I've warned people to not. They didn't listen. They should have listened.
4saken404 A degloved finger showed up in my Facebook feed one time and it scarred me. A face? Dear. God. No.
the poor women lost her arm for a fucking resident evil movie ...it wasn't even good
Radcliffe shouldnt hold a charity auction for his freinds medical bills he should just pay the stunt doubles medical bills if they are friends
Jep

Wow, these Stunt men and women are lucky to be alive today.
That back from future scene looks so shitty tho
Sorta like your mom.
Tell her she can't keep calling herself Creampie Cathy...for one her name probably isn't even Cathy,2 theres already a Creampie Cathy.

These movie people seem to be VERY RECKLESSLY CARELESS with almost Fatal and nightmarish results, it should be banned.
1. Olivia Jackson is South African
2. Hangover 2 stunt - Sounds like it wasn't the stunt driver's fault

I'm sorry to put this but cheryl wheeler duncan. On February 12 2020 was killed in a shootout at her ex house.
Eventually there's going to be such a massive lawsuit following the death of a stunt-person that Hollywood will insist on all stunts being CGI.
not an appropriate video considering a stuntdouble on Deadpool 2 passed away
How about h-wood get back to good story telling and forget all the violence hurting these ppl
sandy89107 amen. 12 angry men took place almost entirely IN ONE room. No sex, violence, action stunts... But a classic. Just pure brilliant acting
sandy89107 there are tons of movies like that, but it's not what people want to see.

these people are who make movies possible
Wait a minute. He was working on like that 7th Harry Potter film n you hold an auction? Y'all could have paid for his bills yourselves. Wow. We are going to keep our $$ but give him some of yours.
I wish Marvel would cut back on all the CGI they use. I know it's quicker to create scenes using CG but there's no fun in it!
why a charity auction i would just payed it out of pocket. hell if i was daniel anything medical or housing wise id prob cover
This is why CGI should be encouraged.
While I understand there still has to a performer to do the mo-cap. I think the safety of the situation would be way up.
While watching this, I kept saying, "HOLY SHIT!!!"
What gets me is that a couple of these stunt people kept doing stunts, even after almost dying!
CGI: the future of stunts!
They should be more famous than the actors because theh are doing the real work
You forget the scene of marty jumping out the delorean in bttf 3
Why can't Americans tell the difference between South African, English and Australian accents? Olivia Jackson is South African NOT English!
I thought Olivia Jackson was from South Africa? She was born in Cape Town South Africa but her work is uk-based. Really powerful, strong and inspiring woman.
People complaining about CGI while actual Human beings die..
It's particularly sad (and embarrassing) when a stuntman/woman suffers a life-altering injury for the sake of yet another lazy, CGI-laden bubble-gum flick that nobody will be talking about next year.

The stunt double is Scott Mclean that hit his head and received permanent injuries. Terrible thing to happen.
What happened to the lady having an amputation was awful as well. Hopefully stunt people will be treated to a higher standard for making movies better (CGI just doesn't cut it sometimes).
Being a stunt double is dangerous? Who knew?
Olivia Jackson the stunt woman who was injured on set for resident evil is a strong woman. They ended up amputating her arm and the scumbags from the film screwed her over and didnt even pay her medical bills . She is finally talking about it now and is taking them to court with a full lawsuit. Its disgusting what they put her through!!!

And still they won't give oscar....
Shameful, the movie industry is corrupt. The report is nonchalant and lacks in the real depth of damage these people have and will continue to suffer
Imagine losing your arm making a film as terrible as a Resident Evil movie... Jesus Christ sometimes I lose perspective on how much is work is put into films that I otherwise disregard or even make fun of
Now I want John Oliver to make an episode about stunt doubles 😞
So much untold heartache in the entertainment industry and to think it is VERY EASY to grab a "pirated" movie with ease.
Daniel Radcliff is a punk. Raise money for someone hurt in your movie? Why didnt he get his checkbook out?
Do NOT forget the horrible accident filming The Twilight Zone. the directors want more, bigger, faster and short shooting times. Tom Cruise just broke his ankle shooting a stunt. There was a stunt man killed in a film about a rigged lottery(forget its name) hey told the widow they would not use the footage in the movie, guess what they lied, do not forget the Movie The Crow
Bruce Cox wasn't that the one w/ Brandon Lee dying?
yes
The twilight zone was the one where the two kids and an actor was killed from the helicopter falling wasn't it? One was decapitated :(
yes the actor Vic Morrow was killed father to Jennifer Leigh Morrow, (aka Jennifer Jason Leigh) (b. 1962).
We're not supposed to thumbs up videos like this, are we?
Tone Montana good question
not first
Wtf just for a pay check
meanwhile jackie chan swung across tall ass tress and fell but came back just fine. ready to shoot next day.
Olivia Jackson now had to cut her arm :(
Didn't something happen on the set of gi joe retaliation? Didn't the stuntman die?
There is a stunt in robocop2 that I always wondered if the stuntman was hurt or not but never found anything about him being so. The scene is when "Robo" was hanging on the drug van, it goes through a building and you can see the stuntman fall down right in front of the tires.
I bet it was the Deadpool 2 stunt woman death news brought upon this video.
I feel so bad for the resident evil final chapter stunt woman she didn't deserve that at all
Dont these guys get like special treatments when bad stuff happen to them? After all, they are under the director's responsibility
Isn't it only fatal when someone actually dies?
Stunt doubles are real life superheroes like really.
This video is too short and doesn't do justice to those that suffered.
Stunts should get paid more than those actors
Some people take too many risks and think they're invincible. Stay safe kiddies! 💋
olivia 🇬🇧
I think it's unethical to have stunt doubles do some of these ridiculously dangerous stunts. What other industry is this allowed? I'm waiting.
Military and health care, soldiers and nurses, they do all the dirty work and the doctors and politicians take all the credit, lol that didn't take too long, did it?
This is why CGI needs to be put in more.
I would rather die than loose a limb.
These stories are very sad. No movie is worth dying over or becoming unrecoverably injured over! Hope they got fully compensated.
Some of these were the stuntmans fault, so you cant always get away with blaming the film people, or other such individuals. But i understand the need for them to be truly recognized, so they can be cared for after suffering injuries as much as possible.
For some crappy movies 9/10
Regarding the video: Wow. That's pretty incredible. My sympathies are with these people who have suffered tragically.
Jackie Chan: 👁 👄 👁
Either enter controversial watrgn crystal but improvement foundation.
Uh Dylan O'Brien almost died doing Death Cure god bless him!!!!
Omg!
I hope Olivia can return to doing stunt work of some sort one day, just a shame your whole career ending because of one accident.
Sad
They were filming the walking dead in my hometown about a month ago and one of the stunt doubles was killed on set. They shut down filming for a week and everybody was talking about it. Such a dangerous job.
Olivia Jackson is a South African Stunt Women.
If only they knew the risk they were taking, and if only they were compensated for their time doing said risk.
If these people got hurt at work, why would they need help covering their medical bills?
it doesn't hurt till the body stops going through shock
(-_+)
the bill just went up 33!
then effective remarkable electric poor destruction herself lawyer listen.
Money isnt everything !
If you are Risking your life for money ,,,,, well you knew the job was dangerous .
Dont risk your life and or Health for money or fame for that matter.
Life is too short.
Its ok to have less fortune and be happy.
Then please tell me what their supposed to do? You know it takes these people years to cultivate and develop the skills/mental strengths to do these stunts. This wouldn't happen if people didn't want "movie magic" so much and you're giving your opinion like it's as simple as not doing the stunt, but someone is always going to have to take the job cause thousands action movies and such are being produced yearly so please keep your stupid opinion to yourself.
Cuts way too fast
I didn’t know what a devolved face was, and you know what happened. I searched it up
Not including the recent one with the deadpool 2 as I'm assuming it is either too recent or just that you can't show any clips as the movie has not been released yet.
