Another good tip: don’t try to force yourself into one specific style! So many people get hung up on looking “preppy” or “goth” or “punk” when in reality your personal style will probably be a mish-mash of aesthetics! Don’t be afraid to come up with an aesthetic wholly unique to you.
Yes currently trying to figure out how to mix “mall goth” and scene together lol. I’m guessing just add kandi brackets to outfits and colorful belts and shirts? Idk

I fall into this trap so much. I like being clear and explaining things well so to have a style that’s undefinable is hard and doesn’t provide me with much guidance as to whether I’m doing it right or wrong. Plus I’m never sure whether I like something because I actually like it or because it’s popular or because the people wearing it appear happy and I want to be like them or blah blah blah. I guess I just need to stop thinking about how I appear to other people and just think about what I want for a change 😅
@@kandy1643 For me my style is “e-girl” and “kawaii” so I like sometimes like have the “e-girl” striped shirt under a colorful t-shirt/sweatshirt and for the pants there’s so many options you can go jeans with some patterns or simple jeans or a skirt. Just explore!

reminder: trends aren't a bad thing. completely building your wardrobe and throwing it out based on them is. if you like something that is trending, wear it! if you like something that isn't trending, then WEAR IT.

I feel like this is very common. That people have a hard time choosing aesthetics I’m I the only one that just doesn’t have this problem and from the start knew what they wanted? Lmao
Whenever I hear of this "problem" though, it makes me think of one of the biggest fictional style icons of all time: Carrie Bradshaw of Sex in the City.
Same. I am a mix of a Blair Waldorf preppy style, a soft girl aesthetic, and like an academic aesthetic, all rolled into one. Don't limit yourself to one style. I like my headbands, tights, tweed, and heels a la Blair Waldorf, but I also like my big sweaters, button-downs, little pastel cardigans, sweatpants, loose jeans, and combat boots. Don't be afraid to be a mix of different styles. It brings variety in a really cool way. You can mix two different styles in one outfit. I mean how cool is that. 😊
I’d love to see like a “how to outfit repeat” video where you show how to style different pieces a few times and change essentially the same outfit up

The internet is a lifesaver. I've honestly never loved skinny jeans because they're so constricting but I felt like there weren't other options because that's the only thing I saw people wearing. Once things like baggy jeans and mom jeans started trending I had the opportunity to wear them and realized baggy clothes are more in my comfort zone and style. They raise my confidence so much!

It’s funny how everyone laughed at me back in the days because I wore loose baggy jeans instead of skinny leggings and oversized shirts and hats and now every second billy is going "90s" and tell me to be individual and not copy and going with the trend SERIOUSLY

Saaame. I used to tie dye my t-shirts, wear baggy clothes etc in high school and there was a specific girl who made fun of me for doing that. Now she dresses that way to keep up with trends. It’s weird how people’s interests and personalities depend so much on the fashion industry and the current trends. 🤷🏻♀️
That's reminds me of my middle school days when I was the only one who wore her natural hair (curly) and girls were laughing at me and know they doing all they can to have curls

The confidence thing is what I struggle with most. I have such a hard time finding things that fit well or feel flattering...I always get excited to try new trends or styles, and then never wear them because they don't look good on me or fit right. My body type and overall body image just makes me wear the same silhouette everyday. Do you have any tips about the whole 'what looks good on your body type thing' and how to not be so discouraged by it?

Hi @ReyBeltane, if you're not already familiar with Kibbe body typing or Body Geometry, I would highly recommend checking out "Merriam Style" on UA-cam to figure out your body type, and learn how to adapt different looks to make them work for you. Personally, it has helped me out immensely! The best part is that it goes waaay beyond "pear shape" "hourglass", etc, and analyses your bone structure (meaning that your body type won't change with weight!) to tell you what will complement the lines of your body. For reference, StealTheSpotlight is very likely to have a Mixed/Gamine body type, which basically means that she looks best in outfits that contain a mix of opposites (short vs long, heavy vs light/sheer, lots of detail vs minimal, etc).
Because of you I'm more happy with myself and how I dress. I wear what I really wanna wear and don't think aout other people. Where I live people look at you weird if you wear an anime shirt or anything rainbow or not everyday. But after I found you're channel I'm more proud and happy! So I just wanna say thank you! You changed my life!🥰
I have a certain style I really want but if I were to have it I dont have a body that's fit for it.... I have thicker thighs and a stomach and I dont know what to do...

@@Sam_Hedgehog it's easier said than done but maybe start by wearing pieces you like little by little to get used to wearing them. confidence really is key, worst case fake it til you make it and try affirmating urself! remember that strangers' opinions do not matter to your life!!!

update: pinterest changed the game for me, I was always hesitant to use it.
So now I know what I would like to try out but finding pieces to buy is sooo time consuming because I‘m very particular because I‘m the kind of person who wants their style to be somewhat unique but also not too attention grabbing, plus comfortable... soo yeah. Slow process. :) Be a slow shopper people. :)
it seriously is so important to look through the clothes you already have before buying a whole new wardrobe! i always try to find new ways to wear old clothes before getting rid of them, and there's almost always some way to update them to fit my new style!

they go well with sleek booties, chunky shoes, classic canvas shoes and overall shoes that go over the ankle
I would pair it with a form fitting tucked in long sleeved shirt or turtleneck and over that, you can put a blazer, sweater vest, or smth along those lines
or just a sweater tucked into the jeans or with the front tucked into it
you can also look up smth like skinny jeans outfits on pinterest

i'd wear skinny jeans with a collar button up and a sweather west or with an oversized jumper and a turtle neck underneath. i'd pair it with shoes like dr martens or chunky sneakers. hope this helps a little? hha

possible idea for a video: i've seen jenn im do a series called "what would jenn wear?" where she answers fashion questions her followers have (either about how to style a specific piece or something more broad like a trend) i've always loved the idea, but from what i've seen, she hasn't done a recent one and i think it would be super helpful for you to do, especially because your style is so distinctive. it could be a sort of easy, go-to video as well if you're ever in a creative stump and are struggling for a video to put out for the week!
I LOVE that you made this video!!! Most videos I've seen about building wardrobes tend to focus on basics/minimalism. They do share useful information & are often definitely stylish, but they're not like yours full of color & eccentricity! This is more my vibe😍💜 & I also use Pinterest for all types of inspiration I'm creating something for(like art, style, or home)

Start small! you can wear a black outfit but go with pastel nails, pastel hair accessories, or pastel earrings etc.
You can go with pastel goth then it has like a mix of pastel colours and stuff

I’ve been a kidcore bb for a few months and my wardrobe, although I expected my ‘signature item’ to be some colorful t shirt I thrifted it actually turned out to be a pair of high waisted kakis.

I’ve always knew what I liked to wear, but I never really knew what my aesthetic/ style was called. My sister told me yesterday what my aesthetic was called so I just learned yesterday. It’s: cottagecore fashion and dark academia fashion. I never really knew where to find what aesthetics are which and what each styles are called, so a video like that would be helpful! ❤️
