Aww hope you settle in soon! Change can be difficult and I know I don’t like change hehe 😉. I have difficulty taking photos without seeing myself which downgrades the quality as I use my front cell phone camera. It’s possibly smart to invest in a good camera but it takes a while for me to get comfortable while my hubby takes my photos plus I’m only 5’4” so making my 6’4” hubby take my photos is a challenge without making me look so short 😂
Oooh thank you so much you are so kind!! :)) It was so funny filming this video in a new setting and in the heat, I was bouncing all over the place but I hope the final video is still entertaining and informative :))
No absolutely not!! So glad you asked this actually because I've recently been thinking about this, especially since I'm seeing more and more people using Photoshop a lot in their photos on places like Instagram. I actually predict that if you can find your style and your ideas without using Photoshop, you're really onto something and will be able to stand out from the crowd! :) I think it's more about having an idea and composing the image or "the story" if you will that is happening in the photo, and less about fancy visual illusions. I'm now in a place where I'll use Photoshop in my photos only to do minimal tweaks and maybe combine two pics, but not so much into doing super complex things. But if you want to try Photoshop, you can download the app "Adobe Photoshop Mix" for your phone and try it out for free :))
Hi Stephanie! Ah yes I've been taking photos almost daily now for over 3 years so i've gathered up a bunch of portriats by now :) The more I keep doing portraits, the more critical I have become and my criteria for posting something has definitely narrowed to some extent (as I've found my style and "brand"). At some point I felt the pressure to post a lot and thought I need to post almost daily on IG to grow, but about a year ago I decided instead to focus on quality instead of quantity, and that seems to work better for me. That's not to say that of course doing a lot of photos and trying out what works for you and posting different photos is good when you're experimenting with new stuff. At the moment my criteria for something to be postable are 1: it needs to have a creative edge and idea, 2: aesthetically pleasing to me, 3:a portrait that is not too "perfect" but has a bit of rawness and messiness, even though it might be staged and carefully planned out :)) I hope this helps. How do you decide if a photo is postable? :)
Hi! Ah thank you for asking! One idea that comes to mind is to think about working with props that have a more "masculine" (for a lack of a better word) property. So instead of using flowers and tea cups, maybe using, ermm, something that has a more "rugged" or less romantic vibe, hope that makes sense?:) And when it comes to posing I think you can take the same principles from each tip but tweak it to be more in line with poses and ways of placing your body that feels more natural to you. So instead of having your hands to cover up your face, maybe you could just use one arm and use your elbow to hide your face which would give it a more "relaxed" look. And instead of fiddling with your clothes you could adjust your collar and go for a more classic style that doesn't have to be so "delicate" but go for a more timeless feel. Hope any of these tips gave you some ideas! :)
I have an important question. What if someone is a makeup artist, but is/has introverted clients but wants to show their work creatively? Could you pls give some tips?
Hi Cynthias! Ah that is a good question. Hmm I think maybe one think that could make your clients feel more comfortable is to have a prop for them to hold in their hand for example when you want to take the photo, and that you give some direction so they don't feel they have to "model" or "pose" if that makes them feel insecure or shy. So, I would ask them if it's ok to try to take some photos, and then ask them to for example sit where the light is nice and maybe ask them to just hold a book, flower, tea cup, whatever in their hand and maybe look at that or pretend to be reading, so that they'll have something to do while you can take the photo. I'm guessing, from having my own make up done by a professional and then asked to take my photo, that what might make them feel uncomfortable is not knowing that to do in the photo :) So hopefully these tips could help! :))
What other people think of my photos is there problem not mine. I know that's easier said than done for some people but if your happy with the photo then that's all that matters. Take the photos that make you happy and if others don't like them at least you do.
Hello Kika, I am an introvert, too. I have already a channel, a cooking channel for vegan mediterranean dishes. I am not ugly, but I feel so old among all these young people making so nice video clips. I ask myself, where do I fit there? However, I love to make videos and I love to cook. Is it mandatory to have photoshop if you want the cool edits?
No absolutely not!! So glad you asked this actually because I've recently been thinking about this, especially since I'm seeing more and more people using Photoshop a lot in their photos on places like Instagram. I actually predict that if you can find your style and your ideas without using Photoshop, you're really onto something and will be able to stand out from the crowd! :) I think it's more about having an idea and composing the image or "the story" if you will that is happening in the photo, and less about fancy visual illusions. But if you want to try Photoshop, you can download the app "Adobe Photoshop Mix" for your phone and try it out for free :))
You have so many portraits. How do you figure out which one is postable or not?
Do you have some tips for men please ?
