Long story short Don't buy the $5-$15 cheap wire harness. this harness will fit your factory harness BUT the speaker wires are not in the right place which is the reason why you don't get any sound.
So don't be a cheap guy like me, either buy the $39.99 on ebay or go to you local audio shop. Hope this help yall!
    Hello
2008 Impala LT No sound after aftermarket stereo install
I have a 2008 Chevy Impala LT, it has NO Bose or premium sound system, There is NO factory amp as well, I believe it was a fleet vehicle (Very Basic)
What my problem is that I'm trying to install a Power acoustic Stereo (after market)
I previously had the same set up and wire harness installed in this car, but my car was broken into and the thief's stole everything including the harness!
The harness I have is the one with out the warning chimes module , Like I said before this setup worked fine for 8 months before the car was broken into!
After installing everything today the stereo comes on and display as should BUT NO SOUND. The only wires that are not connected is the (blue/white) the (solid blue- Antenna) and the (orange- illumination )
I'm at a lost as to why there is no sound, I've checked all fuses, I disconnect the wire harness and connect the factory stereo and everything works fine.
Again I have never had a factory amp and this set up has worked before! If anyone has any ideas please share them!!
Things I'm done so we won't waste time asking if I have.
I tired to locate a factor amp, (There's not one)
    Checked all fuses
Checked each speaker to see if there were any shorts!
Ran the Blue/ white wire to the passenger kick panel to both the (Amp fuse, and ACC Fuse). And still no sound!
The harness has worked before but I didn't do the first install, so I'm not sure how he got it to work, and the sound to come on!

there are 3 places they install the factory amps. in the trunk between the speakers, in the trunk on wheel well, and under the drivers side dash board. be shure to check all 3 spots before ruling it out

Your factory unit could have The original harness pin connection for the amplified model. Listen to what you said. Your factory unit works. So the factory unit and harness works. You remove the original factory head unit and hook up a aftermarket head unit and it doesn't work. Your problems are in the cheap aftermarket harness with base model pin connections. Upgrade the harness to a amplified pin connection scorch model. I guaranty it will work.

unfortunately.. I did an install In my 07 Malibu which is very similar. if you don't buy the harness and yes it's like 80$ at Walmart then the car won't properly communicate with the stereo. another dumb GM factory hindrance. I did exactly what you did and got nothing, went and bought the harness and hooked it up and I've had everything working great ever since. the reason being it's not just a harness, it's got a little box attached that sends the car the"radio healthy" status. my advice. the box also has a speaker that plays the warning chimes your car normally does incase your car would not play them from the factory speaker for whatever reason. I electric taped the whole thing and only left one hole showing from the speaker so it could breathe because it chimed much louder than my car did and it was very annoying, plus my stock car chimes still worked properly. good luck to you

Use this harness Scosche GM3000SW, just make sure you have or get an attenna addaptor. I have a 2005 Malibu base model, not the classic. No on star, no premium sound. It works great, just plug and play. I bought the basic harness with no module and went down a rabbit hole for two days (which brought me to this video) before going to Walmart and returning the basic harness and paying the extra for the Scosche GM3000SW with the module. Trust me, it's worth it.

I kicked myself after I figured it out. like I said, i have the same car. had the same problems. if you still need help, I can try to explain it. but easier if it was over the phone. 08 impala has a feature that won't shut your radio off until the drivers door is opened. it will eventually shut off about 8-12 min after the car is shut off. but if you open the door rt after shutting the car off, it'll turn it off rt away. so what u have to do is install another harness that controls the door chimming, turn signal sound, and shutting radio off after drivers door is opened. I'm not exactly sure what the harness is called but it's at every auto part store. it looks like a square box fuse like the ones that would be under your hood. it has I believe 5 connecters on it that ate numbered 85, 86, 87, etc. auto part store can also print you off a diagram which number means what. once you know what each number means, follow diagram and it gets wired into the harness you bought. but try shutting your driver's door and see if that works. if not, then wire it to your harness. also, if you ever decide to run subs and amps, your have to have that box wired in. I looked online and it said if I plan to run a amplified system, it must be installed. if not installed, it a will cut your radio off as soon as u turn it up. I'm not a professional installer but I hooked up my impala and never had any problems with it. I run (2) 12" Alpine type R's and (2) 1200 watt class D Rockford fosgate amps. Hopefully, this helps you figure out your issue, or at least points you the right direction. good luck bro.

      @shonufftheshogunofharlem8222 8 років тому +3

Yes, I did it recently on my friend's Impala. The blue wire is made to recieve 12v from the amp turn on or power antenna source. No, it will not short anything out either. The only downside to this is that you loose your door chime and turn signal sounds. The reason why is because the factory head unit has the door chime and turn signal sounds play through the speakers. That's why they make that high ass overpriced $100 wire harness because it keeps those features lol. On some Impalas those features include Onstar, steering wheel volume control and door chime, etc. Also, I had to do this on my 03 Mach 1 a few years ago because of my factory amp.

+Deejay Jeminii Hey man make sure you bought the right harness, even though it fits and connects the reason you don't get sound from the speakers is because the harness wires are in the wrong spot.

+Kyle Myers found out the remote on wire from the head unit wasn't feeding power to turn on the Bose factory amp on. The speakers are connected to the factory amp has no bypass to the head unit so I wired the acc wire to the amp wire to cue it to turn on and now works fine when turn on the car and goes off when I take the hey out👍

Hook your blue wires to the red wire and you should get sound out of your speakers
