  • ....he was the West Coast Distributor! Introductory scene for FBI Agent Bill Maxwell from the pilot episode of The Greatest American Hero. Originally aired March 18, 1981. At a desert diner, LA smartmouth and fashion maven Tony Villicana (Michael Pare) gets into it with a guy "dressed like Archie Bunker going to church." Only our three-piece suited friend doesn't carry a cross and bible in his pocket...

You're forgetting one of my favorite lines by Bill Maxwell from one of my favorite episodes and im assuming his, Lillacs Mr. Maxwell. "My grandad once told me theres only one way to judge a man or a woman. Would they go back to back with you in the alley. Not could they but would they. Even if they dont know how. Of course you cant find anyone like that anymore. Thehre all dead." That and "Garbanzo beans" "i do t know what happened to me and the tomatoes." Scenario. R.i.p. Robert Culp. Loved you watching greatest american hero, the outter limits original series, and everhbody loves Raymond and columbo.. You will always be the greatest American hero to me.

WHAT THE HECK DID MAXWELL TELL THE WAITRESS RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING?
Was it "Honey, you were a little overtrained..."?

I think he says "I only ate half a pie let's have it back. And a cup of coffee please." :)

Consummate Culp Thanks, Culp! Now in context what did he mean by that? A jocular hint at the waitress's hurry to yank his half-eaten pie, say, on his briefly popping out?

      B. Lugosi I believe that's exactly it. I suspect Maxwell had gone to the gents room for moment. ;)

My teachers were strict, I guess. If I pulled a knife on a random customer at a diner during a field trip, I would have missed out on lunch for sure. :(

why does tony sound like he's doing a rocky impression?

Yeah I never liked how Tony talked. Did teenagers in 1981 really talk like this? He sounds more like a Brooklyn teenager from 1951 or 1961, instead of an L.A. teenager from 1981. And look at how old these students are, they certainly don't look like 14-17 year olds, I know they are a dysfunctional loser class like Welcome Back Kotter's Sweathogs, and you can say they kept failing, but they don't even look 18, 19 or 20, they all look 27 or so.
