Rest in peace, Robert Culp. That guy was great at comedy and drama. Sort of surprised me that Cosby never made an appearance on The Greatest American Hero. He would've made a great villain.
Unfortunately, GAH was a production nightmare. They would have botched a Cosby appearance so badly, we'd be wishing it never happened. The only chance would have been an episode written and directed by Culp himself.
It was barely on two seasons before it was canceled and Bill was a busy guy (all those commercials, Fat Albert, and Picture Pages, etc... the dude was everywhere plus doing standup and his HBO special), plus The Cosby Show was about to begin.
Eddie is my favorite comedian of that era. I remember getting grounded for listening to a cassette of his comedy. I was too young for Prior - I discovered him when I was grown. I adore Chappelle, he and I are of an age.
The way he said his name Adam Scott I was feeling the old bill maxwell coming out of the wood work. And how it ended with him talking into the shoe as an agent of the bureau again. I was hoping the clip would end with him saying this is Bill Maxwell signing out but what I got made me laugh and smile. RIP Robert Culp, you'll be missed after each time I watch your Columbo episodes, greatest American hero, and outer limits original series. This is Bill Maxwell signing out.
I watched SNL religiously during the Eddie Murphy years, taped each one and watched over & over, yet somehow I never saw this sketch! I love Culp, too, as Bill Maxwell in Greatest American Hero. I was born too late for I-Spy.
Robert Culp was a Genius! And what a beautiful man. My God look at his physique there. He should of been a major Hollywood star. I guess he wouldn't bend over.
I remembered this Skit all Wrong! I had Al Franken dressed as Billie Jean King and throwing a racquet in the Hamper! LOL!! They should've done it that way! LOL!
Robert Culp was in Greatest American Hero. It's a cult classic with only 44 episodes. They are making out that this is another episode of the show. He calls the guy on his phone Ralph. That's Ralph who broke the wall down
To be clear, Vaughn, that guy who is dressed as "Ralph" is not William Katt - who played THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO in the TV show. Check out those episodes from the 80s -- it's a lotta fun, and Katt and Culp keep it down to Earth with their reactions over the wacky extra-terrestrial red suit.
@countrygirl countrymusiclover what does the comedian have to do with anything? I'm talking about the show, "The Greatest America Hero". And the stars of that were William Katt and Robert Culp.
That Bill Cosby impression is unbelievable.
Watch his standup routine Raw (from 1987). He does a even better one there.

@TheKitchenerLeslie
Greatest American Hero had 3 seasons

OMG! I so did not expect that ending!!! GAH for the WIN!!!
Believe it or not I'm walking on air

And to think Eddie Murphy would eventually do an I Spy movie.

He was a bit difficult to work with (Example: He never bothered learning to play tennis for his Kelly Robinson role)
Robert Culp's shoe phone is an Adidas 😜
I thought the shoe phone was a Get Smart thing.
that ending...
I fell over laughing when I saw this first-run!
is amezing how they remasrtered those colors of this 40 years old snl thing
EDDIE BEEN KILLING BILL FOR YEARS
Kazarinsky as BJK is priceless
Seems like he was everywhere and nobody remembers him... if they do, they think "Sweetchuck!"
Welp. I guess it was well known then that Cosby and Hefner were close friends.
Little did they know Eddie Murphy would star in the I Spy remake with Owen Wilson.
To awesome greatest American hero in the end Cos was faf
Eddie had revenge against Cobsy for insulted him
This was way before any of that. The Cosby show didn't even start for another 3-4 years.
Lol
This was pretty Meta.
He was so close to Bill Cosby at first I thought it was him.
I remembered this Skit all Wrong! I had Al Franken dressed as Billie Jean King and throwing a racquet in the Hamper! LOL!! They should've done it that way! LOL!
Hef?Ahead of it's time!
Thus is more like a beginning of a movie
saddening in 16 different ways.... tell us where you'll be for the next 3-10, there Scotty.

@@patriciashelton2494 Probably in the back...with Billie Jean.😎
I need the ending explained. Dated pop culture superhero parody?

@@jondunmore4268 seconded. There's a fine line, and both "Greatest American Hero" and "I Spy" nail it.
Wasn't that their cover on I-Spy?
Back then I had no concept about I Spy.
Dr breen
DDAAMMMM I forgot all about this one .. LOLOLOL
great ending!!! Too bad they couldn't get the real actor
I wonder what William Katt was doing at the time....

countrygirl countrymusiclover who’s Kat Williams?

"Would you quit clowning around, Ralph?"
Bill's not busy anymore, in fact he's only restricted to the prison he's staying at
Freddy Richards where is HARVEY WEINSTEIN...
@@patriciashelton2494 Eh somewhere, just ain't allowed to filmmake
Bill Cosby definitely is not in prison
the fake prison he agreed to fake stay at.
And then Eddie starred in the movie
Pudding pop and the pill to girls drinks
Utube adverts hahahah… so glad there is workaround seeing them and NOT paying for that privilege 😉
Eddie Murphy played Bill Cosby so many times and got the nerves to disrespect him #damn
Stfu bitch
Eddie Murphy did his thing Bill Cosby is a hypocrite...
Stevie Critique Newby man shut ya bitch ass up Cosby didn’t do that shit

I like the idea for the skit but the ending was poorly executed.
Why?
No build up or sound effect for the surprise ending.
