    Remember reading the Clod vs USA1 battle. I had a clod back then, and wanted the Clod to win so badly. But the USA1 took the golden medal, to my biggest disapointment. Because I was so in love with my Dream car the Clod. But after some talks with my father, the Clod was the best truck for me after all, and that was the most important thing. Weard how big of an impact magazines had back then, but so good to have a father supporting my rig❤️🏁 #rcmemories

      Magazines were out internet back then lol... Both trucks are pretty awesome. Working on a Clod Buster video now.

    I own the re-release model but these old versions were sweet! The original USA-1 nitro variant was actually way more reliable and faster (pre brushless days) than the electric version as it was based off the Kyosho burns buggy. Kyosho still keeps banging out grand slams, they are truly world treasure in this hobby.

      Thanks for the info and comment. Thats what I heard about the nitro version. Less issues than the electric one. Unfortunately, I never got into nitro. Maybe one day.

    I owned a USA-1 briefly back in the day. It belonged to a friend and he decided he didn’t want it anymore so he sold it to me. I was in love with the thing but it kept breaking down so eventually I sold it for very cheap. The running sound it makes takes me back.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  2 роки тому +1

      Yes it has a distinct sound. And yes, AGREED, it breaks easily lol..

    Wow super nice, yeah risky concepts I’ve gotten bunch of parts from him for my med force cruiser. Appreciate you sharing beautiful rig

    Like you, I am completely baffled by Riskey Concepts. I’ve talked to him a few times myself. When someone just vanishes like that I hope it’s not because he passed away or something like that. He had a huge business and was a great engineer, painter and extremely knowledgeable on the original USA-1 platform. He was even making original wheels out of aluminum!

    Always wanted this truck. Never new it had problems, it was just that cool thing in the Tower Hobbies magazine that I couldn't get.
    Maybe when I finish my project truck I can just get myself a USA-1 body.

      Yup I always saw it in Towerhobbies catalog and it was too expensive for me back when i was a kid. Settled for a Hi-Rider Corvette instead. Much cheaper...

    I recently got one for $100. Originally i was going to buy these radio shack mattrax rc cars for $60 (which i did since it was for 3 cars and parts) but also saw he had what we thought was a clodbuster. Ended up making an offer since he was originally wanting $30 for it but decided $100 was a very good and fair deal. When i got home to look at it, it turned out to be a usa 1. Its green with some cool autographics pink squiggle design stickers on it. Got the aluminum hubs for it and plan on restoring it and keeping the paint on it but naming it the melon crusher.

    I always drooled over this truck in the old tower hobbies ads. I never got one because my double dare was (and still is to this day) the worst rc I've ever owned. Man it was horrible, and I didnt want to buy the same platform again. My javelin was a bash tank, don't understand why kyoshos cars were 10x more durable than their trucks. My big brute, hi rider, and double dare were all fragile and frustrating to no end. Still, I'd love to have a usa1 on the shelf for display👍
    EDIT: After watching the full vid... Man that thing hauls with those motors! And, um ... Yea.... I wouldn't risk jumping it either haha. Cool vid😁

    I had one of these when I was a kid, I had a Clodbuster too. As good as the USA-1 looked it was a big pile of poop, mine was anyway. I never could get it to run right. Gear boxes were so gritty sounding and stiff to turn, no bearings, couldn't afford them as a kid. The motors got so hout i couldn't touch them. Had that thing apart and together so many times. I eventually sold it and used that money to buy another radio to put in my Clodbuster. I felt so bad because I begged my parents for the USA-1 not long after they bought my Clod.

    Hi there. That is a sweet truck it shifts with those mega motors. I just picked one up in really nice condition the vintage usa1 nitro version i didn’t get a body with it and herd that TBG does some nice bodys.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  2 роки тому

      I've ordered plenty from TBG and never was disappointed. However, I've never ordered a USA-1 body from them.

      Wow i just took delivery of the usa1 body but when I opened the box there’s two usa1 body’s on the top of the other is written free extra : ) so that’s mega thay are both perfect.

    Good choice of driving venue. Flat, smooth, open, all things that lend toward keeping it running what with a scarcity of parts. She's a real beauty!

      That was the plan. I contemplated jumping this off my ramp but, reality kicked in. That little voice said, "you crazy." I'm building a Clod Buster Black Edition as we speak. that will get launched off the ramp. Thanks for the comment and support.

    Very cool 🔥👏👏 I've got both O.G's ! Maybe the body's will be available now 🤔🤞lol. Since kyosho took the cheap route by throwing a body on the mad crusher, witch I have & calling it a return of a Legend USA lol. I'm going to pass myself ! I know a bunch of people waiting for them to hit shelves. Reseller will be on it & jacking up that price unless you did pre-order. Thanks again for the really cool vid 👍🙆

  • @bradkalman2353
    @bradkalman2353 2 роки тому

    Ari you need to get some of your cars lifted up off their tires and sitting on their suspensions so you don't get flat spots in both places.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  2 роки тому

      They are lifted. You just cant see. I have black painted lifts underneath them that lift them just a few millimeters off the ground. Just enough so the tires spin freely.

    How much do you think one of these in original condition is worth? Probably has less than 3 hours run time on it.

  • @ericwood2790
    @ericwood2790 2 роки тому

    Would of been nice if the rere version had of stayed true to the original. I felt like you did , I took a pass on the new one because of the price. Those old Rc cars are so temperamental and fragile but fun and addictive.

    Aren't those mega motors like 20 turn 550s?

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  2 роки тому

      off the top of my head, I believe they are 21 turn..

    • @juicedcoupe
      @juicedcoupe 2 роки тому

      A little late to this. But the information that I have on them is 22 turn, 550. And 21,000 rpm.
      The tests that I've seen on these and the Magnetic Mayhem (newer version) support that data.
