Absolutely stunning! :) I love the way colors fade and blend so naturally. Do you use only watercolour, or watercolour + gouache? I particulary mean strokes of smoke coming out of the character's palm upwards and to the left of the picture. I was experimenting with few techniques (watercolour mostly) and I'd really appreciate your input in the subject: which is better? to wash out the watercolour in desired areas by using brush or napkin to create the highlight, or to use light-colour opaque gouache to do the trick? :)

I did use some acryla-gouache on this one for that part. As for technique suggestions, I think it all depends on what sort of look you're going for. If you need a highlight on watercolor, it's very difficult to get that highlight by trying to take the watercolor out, usually you have to go over it with something opaque, or plan from the beginning to use the white of the page. Hope that helps!

Thank you very much for your help and suggestions! :) This is indeed very useful to me because I'm during the stage of mixing few techniques and I have to understand the order of processes. Thank you once again and have a wonderful day! :)

This is beautiful! What paper do you use? Do you stretch it before hand?

I use at least 140lb watercolor paper, and I do stretch it. There's a tutorial for my patron over at Patreon- www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-how-i-8030499

Lovely piece!! Could I ask you something? When painting on watercolor, after a while, the colors are a little faded from the many layers, overworked maybe (?) but way too easily-quickly! Idk but it bothers me! Do you think it's the paper? If so, could you recommend some brand?

I don't think I'd be able to tell without seeing it- but it's probably the handling of the paint. I have the same issue sometimes, if I try to get a dark value by layering the paint it usually ends up looking overworked and I have to start over. I've been doing some studies to get a little better control of this by putting down enough paint on the first wash. If anything, I'd recommend doing a bunch of studies to see if you can figure out the best way for you to control the watercolor. I do know that the colors tend to be more saturated when they're wet and fade once they dry. I hope that helps!

Yes it really helps! Thank you very much :) I will try some studies!
