Get My 27 Plan Bundle Here: rlnk.cc/27plansibuildit Neil Pasken (Pask Makes - ua-cam.com/users/PaskMakes) challenged me to do my take on his very popular small parts organizer. His has swing out drawers that rotate on a pivot and are triangular, while mine also has the same kind of drawers but they are rectangular and "butterfly" open. His is free standing while mine is designed to be mounted on a wall or the side of a cabinet, or sit on a shelf. A fun project and actually very practical - these drawers will hold a lot of small parts and fasteners and operate smoothly. You can upsize it as well or make the drawers shorter which makes the cabinet narrower. I used maple and walnut but this can be made with any type of wood, even softwood.
Your projects and jigs that you make are ingenious. I admire your tool for changing the table saw blade every time you show it. You challenge all of us to be better woodworkers. Thanks so much!
I love the challenge format. Especially with you and Neil being from different sides of the globe, it’s neat to see the different varieties of wood, tools, measurements and, of course, accents!
you sir are a master craftsman! what an intricate little box, but so beautiful when done! i bet youre the king of your neighborhood with all the other guys!
This would make a good jewelry box if slightly squarer, maybe a washer would stop the drawer pull out? You could use brass pins instead of screws. I really like this design, thanks for sharing.
i havent watched this channel in some time....been subscribed for a few years. i believe there were 200 some thousand subs. cool to see you over 1 million now!!
Very nice! In addition to wanting to make this project, Putting the heal of the hand plane on same thickness stock, and filing down the screw heads are two techniques I shall remember. Thank you.
What a lovely organizer. Just wondering if a tight friction fit would be sufficient to hold the dowels in place, avoiding the visible screws heads, but still allowing for it to be taken apart again.
Very nice project, John. Maybe a way to open the drawer one at a time without having to hold the others, could be to add a small magnet on the back panel inner side that match to a small metal insert on the drawer. In this way the magnet should help keep them shut and allowing to open them one by one.
Beautifully done, what about if you added a double washer between each drawer would that provide the slipping required to have only one open at a time? Small magnet latches can catch small parts and you wouldn't want that but washers could do the trick
Beautiful small parts boxes John. You mentioned that sometimes a second drawer will be dragged open and you have to hold it back. Would small, very thin plastic washers placed between the drawers help with that? You'd have to make them yourself probably but that is right up your alley.
Hi, John, It's good to see one of your posts again. I don't know why I no longer get them. I am still subscribed and the bell was clicked on. It's not just from you. Whatever happened took out ALL of my woodworking subscriptions. I got this video from a Jay Bates post. It does no good to re-subscribe either, I've tried that. Anyway, I enjoyed this video and hope to see more someday. I even tried to sign-up for those 5 free projects at the end of this video but was not allowed to. GOD BLESS my friend.
Wow! What a beauty. This is a very useful and superbly crafted parts box. I can see so many uses in sewing, jewelry making, beading, DIY garage, etc. Love it. Thank you for the video. Well worth joining for the plans. The contrasting woods are so lovely. The rotating hinge is genius. 9:28 - You are taking a lot of risks with your bare hands next to that spinning saw blade. Please use a push stick. This is creating a lot of anxiety looking at you working dangerously. Yikes! It is a pity that water based finishes are so popular. They have such a plastic feel versus the oil based polys.
I think the only thing I would, consider changing is using a metal rod,in place of the dowel for the pivot which would allow a smaller diameter to be used. Perhaps brass, given that it’s inspired by Neil😁. I’m still in awe of your wood dissection skills though.
Pretty dang precise work John. To facilitate single drawer opening, would a very thin washer work between drawers. Not sure you have the room but I have seen some very thin washers used as bushings in some electronics which I salvage when possible for stuff like this.
John: Another GREAT project. This rivals the drawer unit made with metal track. After I make four of those units for grand sons I may tackle this project. Thank You for sharing your good ideas, ''David Adair
That's to nice to be in a workshop you and Neil both are awesome makers one of a kind and great to watch and good motivation I love to build myself when I have time... I have a challenge for you make something out of matchsticks
Thank you for the tips you give in this project. I have never seen someone plain(?), scrape wood like that, interesting. Why do you use this technique?
Neat-O! Neil's version is cool too. I watched his video when it came out. I like both versions equally. Neil's version, placed on a workbench while assembling a project. And yours, I could see attached at various spots around the shop for the convenience of having commonly used fasteners at arm's reach wherever you are. And, they are really nice looking little pieces. On a personal note, I'm currently moving my place of residence. In doing so, I will now afford the space for a small shop. (!!!) It's been a long time coming. With piles of plans and ideas for builds I've been compiling, it's all so exciting. (Again, !!!) I just had a thought while watching this video, with the accompanying offer for the "Mega-Plans Bundle". I am going to purchase the the plans and start in on building them, first thing. I see it as a way to get accustomed to "shop work". I'm a professional carpenter, mainly doing remodels and such. Of course, that work is in the field, and all "on the fly" type building. I think the practice of just following some already made plans will acclimate me to bring in the shop. It's all I've wanted to do for a good many years. I'll know when I'm ready to start in on my own designs, after I've tuned myself to finer techniques. Thanks for all your videos, man. I've enjoyed every one of them and learned tons, as well as gotten many ideas of my own. Yours, along with a few other channels, have kept the passion for wood working quite alive in me. So, cheers! And, thanks again!
Really nice project. I'm always impressed with your craftsmanship. Plus, I picked up a few cool tid-bits of great ideas for techniques along the way. Well done as always.

I built it put apathcary handles so I could label it. Fun Build Thanks John.

Yes. Is there a video of the gear tool that changes the blades?
What a cool looking piece that is John! Love it! :)
Thanks Neil, and thanks for the inspiration :)
@@JohnHeisz my two favorite woodworkers interacting, great to see. Love both of your channels, keep up the awesome work
That table saw still impresses me to this day 😍
yep its better than many production saws
that was a good video. Kinda "old school" build video in a cool way. Thanks again John...... and Neil for the challenge.
Such a nice looking parts bin! Maple and walnut just never gets old.
Hii sir 🤝🤝😊
You are so skilled using the table saw! Thanks for a great build!
I love the challenge format. Especially with you and Neil being from different sides of the globe, it’s neat to see the different varieties of wood, tools, measurements and, of course, accents!
😊👍
I'm so happy my two favorite makers from the Makers Mob did this challenge together! Awesome video, John!
you sir are a master craftsman! what an intricate little box, but so beautiful when done! i bet youre the king of your neighborhood with all the other guys!
NICE!!! The key is "SHARP" scraper. Why do people hate this great and useful tool?
Oooo an array of hand tools, @paskmakes is drooling.
"tight fit in that small hole" classic John. Great video, Johm.
This would make a good jewelry box if slightly squarer, maybe a washer would stop the drawer pull out? You could use brass pins instead of screws. I really like this design, thanks for sharing.

Superb idea and execution.Cheers from India 🇮🇳.
Das haben sie wieder sehr👍👍👍 schön gemacht.
Woodworking is such an awesome hobby and there are so many reasons that I love woodworking
Very nice! In addition to wanting to make this project, Putting the heal of the hand plane on same thickness stock, and filing down the screw heads are two techniques I shall remember. Thank you.
Awesome! Neil will love it!
Just watched it on locals, well done John great video. 👍
This is a perfect project for a lot of small scrap pieces people might have.
You had me at the walnut and maple combination.
How cool is this...great Work and wishes from Bremen,Germany🇩🇪
Cross over we needed and wanted.
A beautiful piece, and that tongue-in-groove joint at 9:08 is to die for!
What a lovely organizer. Just wondering if a tight friction fit would be sufficient to hold the dowels in place, avoiding the visible screws heads, but still allowing for it to be taken apart again.
فن و إبداع و ذكاء ، جزاك الله على هذا الإتقان . جزائري
You did Neil’s cabinet some serious justice
Very cool, the jig you made to round the corners is simple but genius! Thanks for the inspiration.
Way cool! And a perfect gift for my jewelry reseller. I better get to work!
Are there plans for your build??
If I could wrap all my furniture in walnut, I would. Looking sweet, man
Здорово 👍!! Отличный органайзер для мелочей получился !!!
Very nice project, John.

That was noted at the end of the video.
I think it turned out really beautiful and fancy!
A toothpick drilled into the dowel between each drawer will solve the problem of the above or below drawer opening when you open one drawer.
사장님은 대단하십니다
멋진 서랍식영상 잘보고
갑니다
Really slick looking project. I'd probably add a small magnet behind each drawer to keep the drawers closed when you open another.
I hope you take precautions using the table saw because I can watch some of your cuts.
Please use push sticks.
That turned out beautifully John!
Great idea John, turned out great. 2 of my favourite creators combining to showcase their skills
super clean cut joint your 90' is 100% , john you are genius, love your all work from Canada.
Beautifully done, what about if you added a double washer between each drawer would that provide the slipping required to have only one open at a time? Small magnet latches can catch small parts and you wouldn't want that but washers could do the trick
Topb👍👍😊
John, you are genius. In you for sure is ticking one big great wooden heart. :)
Outstanding craftsmanship and video John! Very clean and sharp looking!
That's really nice!!!! Well done John!!!! Thank You!!!!! 😃👍😎🤘
1:30 or a very thin (1/8" thick) piece between the drawers, using the walnut
😊😊
What a nice project that is John. Great video, thumbs up.
How very awesome! Nice build!
Beautiful small parts boxes John. You mentioned that sometimes a second drawer will be dragged open and you have to hold it back. Would small, very thin plastic washers placed between the drawers help with that? You'd have to make them yourself probably but that is right up your alley.
knifemakers' PTFE sheets, super thin and intended to be used as thin washer material maybe?
They look really good stacked like that at the end 👍👍👍👍👍
MUITO CRIATIVO, MUITA PACIENCIA, E UM EXLENTE ACABAMENTO, TENS MEUS PARABENS.
Pretty cool. The wood choice is spot on. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed!
That turned out really nice
Nice I like to make boxes and shelves this may be my next project thanks for the work you put in to make these videos
I really like your version, very cool

"Or magnets.", I think I'll adopt saying that as a final solution any time I propose a method or set of methods of fixing something.
wow. very nice. super organizer. bravol.. be happy. see you...............
That was Very cool. To push a button to raise the Bench Dogs. Is their plans for that Or the Bench it was in???
Pretty dang precise work John. To facilitate single drawer opening, would a very thin washer work between drawers. Not sure you have the room but I have seen some very thin washers used as bushings in some electronics which I salvage when possible for stuff like this.
Lovely John!
Beautiful and simple. Nice job!!
very nice design. think I would have dispensed with the screw, for me it distracts from the very clean lines.
John: Another GREAT project. This rivals the drawer unit made with metal track. After I make four of those units for grand sons I may tackle this project. Thank You for sharing your good ideas, ''David Adair
Me encanta, precioso organizador, voy a hacer varios para las piezas de mis maquetas de barcos de modelismo.

Very nice build indeed…Neil will be proud 👍🏼
Well done, I like your table saw sled.....

Looks great. Love the walnut. Useful little organizer. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work. Using two contrasting woods never gets old for me.
cool project, love it. You might try incorporating small (weak) magnets to prevent the neighboring drawer from opening.
Thanks for all the good videos you shared last year. Looking forward to next year, happy holidays
Thank you for the tips you give in this project. I have never seen someone plain(?), scrape wood like that, interesting. Why do you use this technique?
Your work is so beautiful!
Great Idea!
*Looks Fantastic Fancy Awesome Build!!* 🔥🔥🌟🌟👍
Perfect for my fly tying bench. Thanks
Looking super cool.

WONDERFUL !!!
Very cool project John. I love your creativity.
Really nice project. I'm always impressed with your craftsmanship. Plus, I picked up a few cool tid-bits of great ideas for techniques along the way. Well done as always.
Another great build
Super cool...& I've figured out why he sounds familiar to me: Some similarities of accent, timbre, & speaking style to the Food Wishes guy.
Really cool build
Thanks Andrew :)
Fantastic!
I view its purpose as a jewelry box or little keepsakes.
