It would also hugely reduce sound pollution and reduce the heat island effect in downtown.
As a native Atlantan still here, I gotta say, I miss old Atlanta......... It's becoming overdeveloped, overpopulated , and waaaaayyy overpriced
I’m from Jax Florida. I been in gwinnett 11 years and it’s definitely not the same as it was when I first came
@@mranderson8725 I agree. I've been her for 12 years from VA. It feels different. Not affordable to own as it use to be and the City and state isn't doing anything to help. The corporations are moving in and making decisions.
get with the times or get left behind
@@jelaniward3418 tbh
@@jelaniward3418 leave me behind, especially with these prices
I love the idea. The only issue is you won't be able to look out of your office on 14th and see what the traffic is like before you head out.
Please let this happen. I would pay more taxes for this.
and how is this going to help with Traffic?
It's not. They just are saying it is. imo
No. Don’t want the view obstructed. Do it somewhere else.
All American cities need to do this. Car infrastructure have ruined our cities
Do they not neeed the connector ?
The Connector would still be there, just under neath the bridge topped in green space. I don't like the idea. I think it will make the city look ugly for up to ten years, will cause so much disruption to traffic, that people will move away from the area. It's just a bad idea. I hope it never ever comes to fruition.
bike lanes would be great!
Sounds nice if this project goes through the whole Metro Atlanta area will be super expensive if you're not in the high six-figure range of income or millionaire there is no way you're going to be able to afford to live around the metro area.. the surrounding counties will have to pay for this project home prices an property taxes will go Sky High
Just do it already!
The New York of the south 🤷🏽♀️
NO, WE ARE ATLANTA. Yankee go home!
Nope. It will never happen. They are trying though. I like peace and quiet.
@@Armistead_MacSkye If Yankee's went home Atlanta would be slow, rusty and outdated like the rest of the south.
Asking a visitor his opinion, lol.
I have to be honest here. The only people that really want this all work for the movie and television industry. It gives them yet another exterior that they can film in, 6 months out of the year. And dress it up to be a stand-in for some other major American city. I say stop trying to make Atlanta look like New York, Boston, or Chicago.
i think it would be pretty useful. The bridge covering would block sound so the areas near the highway would be a lot less noisy. It would connect the 2 sides of the city reducing congestion and time it takes to get across.
@@stuart4341 I don't think is going reduce congestion at all. Youll literally will be stuck in tunnel traffic if and when it's built.
@@burdrchitect1680 That is not what I meant. You can see there are roads on the roof of the bridge. It makes it significantly easier to cross the different sides of the highway since you can now go over it
@@burdrchitect1680 I went back and compared the current one and the future one and the future one has at least 3 extra roads and you can walk over it from side.
@@stuart4341 Sounds of the city breathing and commuting is beautiful.
YES! 🎉
Oh yeah it’s a nice park area so at least when you get mugged and robbed and shot you’ll be in a very nice looking area with grass and trees and birds singing it’ll be wonderful! and will remind some of Chicago Parks! What waste of money there are better things to do with what kind of money!
nimby
I'm literally nauseous thinking about the traffic and loss of productivity for years to accommodate this volume of a project. Get real.
Think about all the wildlife that will get hit by cars. That sounds super fun guys.
??? umm. I've only seen rats and squirrels. lol. Go to the suburbs and you'll see 🦌.
Hell no! Last thing we need is a dangerous tunnel where people are stuck in traffic and getting robbed by water boys. It won’t even be safe under there. If they need trails and ponds and shit; take their ass to Piedmont. When I drive in I like to see the city and the sun; not be in a tunnel.
take marta instead, you get really nice views of the city before you descend into the tunnels through downtown, or is that too hard for your nimby brain to understand?
An opportunity for more crime and it will block out the sun and the sky for motorists
sooo tunnels just shouldn’t exist?
Can you say Boondoggle?
I hate this idea primarily because when you're driving down the highway it's one of the few places you can get an unobstructed view of the whole midtown/downtown skyline anymore..... Stuck in a tunnel in traffic
Also In all the sketches they forgot to sketch in all the homeless people that are going to be camped out because they closed the Pine st shelter and rents aren't affordable....
ah yes... prioritizing the views of people in cars rather than those who might benefit!
@@Funkyjamdude why don't ppl in cars Count? U have a car and suddenly u cease to count?
If they really cared about ppl they'd create affordable housing, and more homeless programs/shelters. This whole city and world is a money grab
@@thesilentdiva so you prioritize a view from your car over people walking around in a park… fuck outta here😭 you in the car anyway suffer in a tunnel who cares, boohoo. Let people have some more green space instead of a highway through the city. You got carbrain
@@thesilentdiva girllll you in a car, focus on the ROAD and not the view 🤣!! If you want views, get out your car.
come on atlanta!! let’s do this!!
First deal with the traffic because nobody want to be stuck in traffic under a tunnel for hrs 😒 not having any view but the traffic surrounding you
As an Atlanta native, I'm against this idea. It would no doubt drive up prices in Midtown even more and completely obstruct the view of the midtown/downtown skyline for commuters. No thanks. Put this somewhere else in the city.
I said the same thing and ppl jumped me in the comments , yOu dOnT nEeD tO sEe fRoM yOuR caR
I hate this only because there is no way in f*k this will ever happen.
HARD PASS
This seems like a mistake
Come on Atlanta let’s make it happen
This will be very dangerous for the public.
Because the Police helicopters won't be able to hover over Ray Ray when he steals a Dodge Charger, high on crack, with that yuppie green space in the way.
The many stereotypes in this comment......I can't
If you going to do stereotypes at least get the shit right you gon and mixed up all the stereotypes ... you just wanted to say negative didnt u SMH
This is a stupid becuase then people can't see downtown when driving through and will make sitting in the gruesome traffic worse.
This would cover one of the best skyline views in all of the United States. Horrible idea. There are other parts of the highway that needs covering.
It’s a great idea in principle but in practice it will be full of annoyingly winding paths and ugly modern art and lots and lots of concrete. Result: a desert.
