Atlantic City Island Indoor Waterpark Update

  • Back in January 2022, Showboat's owner Bart Blatstein made the announcement that he wanted to bring more family friendly attractions to his resort.
Blatstein knew that Atlantic City was missing the family entertainment aspect as it mostly catered to gamblers. He wanted to corner the family market so he held a press conference to announce the Island Waterpark.
This waterpark was billed as largest indoor waterpark in the world. Costing over $100 million dollars, this year-round indoor waterpark will sit in a retractable glass-pane roof and will consist of 103,000-square-feet of space.
Inside you can find a boardwalk of games, restaurants, bars, a Lazy river, party rooms and over 10 massive slides.
Since the announcement crews broke ground and have been working around the clock to get the property built in time for their May 2023 opening date.
We visited the site to bring you some updates on the construction of the waterpark.
At this time, most of the roof skeleton is complete and glass is being installed. In a showboat parking lot the slides are being put together and will soon be moved into position.
Here is our drone update of Island Waterpark.

This is the dawning of a new era for AC. I'm subscribing and stayng tuned. AND I'm def visiting the Water Park. 😁👍🏽

Good idea for families! A water park helps one enjoy the water in " Hot" summer in AC...but a separate pool or evening hot tubs for ADULTS is a must! Permit the Adults to have "their" area free of those wild kids!!..A thumbs up if this is in the plans!

It's also to enjoy a waterpark in the winter also. That's going to be sick to be in the water wearing shorts and looking up seeing snow on the dome. Incredible! And having that arcade in Showboat which is a great place! Love it for my young family members!

Yes, everyone is excited about this waterpark, but travelers beware. Do not stay at the hotel. Stay anywhere else. Bart is putting all his money into the waterpark, but not the hotel--"they are remodeling". Better hurry up and get your remodeling done (which will be impossible) cause that waterpark is opening in about 4 weeks. The hotel is basically falling apart. A better name for this hotel is “The Showboat to Hell.” Or, “The Twilight Zone Showboat Hotel.” Yes, they are building the in-door waterpark and have put in a new fitness center on the first floor, but the rest of the hotel is a pit and the elevators are dangerous. From the very beginning at check-in it was terrible. We begin to unload our luggage and my wife goes in to get a caddy. They will not give her a caddy until she checks in. (Are hotel caddy’s that valuable-how does one steal a hotel caddy. I can see myself running thru the streets with my hotel caddy making my getaway of maybe trying to hoist it into a pickup truck and then selling it on Craigslist for $50). Since they have 1 staff checking guests in, we wait 45 minutes outside the hotel until they check her in watching as the line of cars behind us grows and grows. Parking: When we pulled into the check-in area, the only sign was for valet parking--$35 night with no sign of where guests can self-park. I ask one of the valet drivers where self-park is and he points to where it is. Simple enough, but no signs anywhere. They have a large rubber device extending across the entrance that seems to be blocking entry so the assumption is that no one should enter and once again there are no signs that this is “Showboat Guest Parking”. Apparently, the rubber device is to prevent large oversize vehicles from entering the garage. I slowly enter the garage fearing the top of my SUV may be damaged but I did clear the hanging rubber device. Once in the garage, no attendant to be found anywhere---this is “Air-Garage” who manages the garage. Showboat cannot afford to keep a parking attendant in their garage to assist its guests. Air Garage, a company that makes it very hard to contact them--no contact phone number on their website--only contact is via email--never a good sign. They are based in California. The parking transaction is all online. You have to use your smartphone, scan a code with your phone and then pay for your parking. However, Air Garage does not list an option for a 2-night stay. They ask when are you entering and when are you leaving. (I am at a hotel where they charge by the night, not when I come into the hotel and when I leave--why would I pay for my parking this way? So, they rip off every single person by charging them for 1 extra day each time they stay at the hotel. Yes, I am coming in Friday night and leaving Sunday, but I should not be charged for 3 days-it should be by nights like all other hotels charge. Once I pay my $75 parking fee, which should be $50. I go to the elevators to get to the bottom floor. The elevators do not work. I get stuck and then it starts to work. Once down in the hotel I go to the elevators to where we are staying. Same thing-I am stuck in the elevator. It says put you key card in. I do this and nothing happens. Fortunately, I am able to get out of the elevator and encounter an “experienced guest” who has become skilled at using the elevators. He says, “Don’t use those elevators over there. They don’t work all the time. Use these-but when you use these only put you key card in and if the button for you floor doesn’t light up, then pull you card out and try it again, and maybe again”. WTF?? (By the way-no postings of the elevators ever being annually inspected -isn’t this required?) Anyway I finally get up to my floor, make it to the room and my wife tells me that of the 2 keycard they gave her, one is not working. Mine works. I get into the room, close the door and here is the rest of the story: there is no fire-escape route posted on the door, which is certainly a code-violation; the outlet I plug my phone charge into is loose in the wall and my charger keeps falling out; there are smudges and stains on the walls that have not been cleaned, the carpet is stained, they have removed the extra door lock on the door and made no attempt to paint the door and fill the holes, there is some sort of phone outlet box mounted in the bathroom wall that is about to fall out of the wall, the drain in the sink does not work, we are not supplied with any blankets for the beds, the entertainment center for the tv is marked up and gouged, we receive no room service on the next day for our room. I could go on, but need to tell more about the elevators. Here are more elevators events: my wife was entering the elevator and it closed on her shoulder and did not immediately bounce back. Her shoulder is still bruised. On another occasion we saw one man get his arm stuck in the elevator when he was trying to get it stop and it essentially locked his arm in the elevator. Fortunately, he was able to get his arm out before it moved-no amputation needed. I could go on, but you get the picture. When we talked to the front desk about some of these issues-they apologize and said, “We are remodeling”.

    Hey Joey and Julia,
Great to see all new improvements to.make the wildwoods shine. I'm glad some places decided to stay a motel verses a condo. I think wildwood landscape shouldn't be condo Nation as many condos have made North wildwood and the crest get more uglier especially if they designed these places like the old Grey manor that was done at 20th and surf. Ave. It all comes down to the $$$$ I'm glad places like the Malibu at 19th and the boardwalk stayed and didn't get bought out like the buckineer hotel did. Condos cause taxes to get higher and make it impossible for the average person to afford to stay. ...THANK YOU Joey and Julia for all you do for many here on UA-cam . You make it possible for all of us to enjoy your videos on the wildwoods

So much cleaner, quieter, at least triple the restaurants and ten times more stores to shop in. Uries and a lot of the other once fine Wildwood restaurants are tourist traps with so so meals. When we stay at the Crest we enjoy a quality seafood super at the Lobster House in Cape May and restaurant in Some Harbor.

I'm over in that area frequently for work and to go surfing. Take a walk around the surrounding streets and pay attention to the broken glass on the ground from cars being broken into. Take a walk if you dare in the adjacent neighborhoods after dark or even in the day time. Take a walk under the boardwalk or on it sometimes. Therein lies the secret to the success or likely failure of this venture. I'd love to see it cleaned up and safe for visitors but I know its not going to happen especially with the leadership in the city.

In fact used a Groupon to stay at showboat when they had just started covering up their slot machines with plastic. I got off on the second floor and night to check for a candy machine and walked all around it because everything was closed and there were no people there.
No exaggeration the entire time I stayed there I saw no more than 20 people!
    I loved it!!
I've stayed in a lot of hotels in Atlantic City from the cheapest to the top ones there. The one thing I don't understand is how the cheap hotels will give you a free breakfast and free Wi-Fi while the more expensive ones will not give you either one.

No doubt Atlantic City has changed and suffered tremendously, but there's people that see good and believe in this once lively city, and their doing things to turn it around. Instead of negativity look at everything that's coming. Just yesterday it was announced a brand new beachfront is in the works which will generate more jobs, housing, retail, and a brand new hotel.

I'd love to see this work.Unfortunately The city is broken and ran by politicians more concerned with painting names of corrupt race baiting organizations and tearing down buildings that political rivals haven't owned in years. As someone who visits ac often...I'll say keep your doors locked and don't leave the casino.
