She is that generations Lucille Ball or Mary Tyler Moore, but yea, I haven't seen anyone near her level since Seinfeld wrapped up, the writing on her own shows wasn't good enough to let her truly shine or else we would have had an untold number of extra years of her, but sadly it wasn't to be. I sure do still love her in syndication though.

Julia has been awarded 11 Emmy awards. 8 for acting...3 for producing. Thats all that needs to be said about this gem of an actress and human being who has provided me, as well as millions of others, quality laughs over her now 39 year career. Congrats Julia!!!!

hey only accolade is "she knows Jerry." For her to win one, before him, is fucking ludicrous. She's known for her stand up as much as Einstein is known for his professional NBA play as a two guard. She wasnt a writer so the awards you mention are not for comedy. I dont know who is fucking worse, this award or Ellen. Its a travesty.

God bless Julia Louis-Dreyfus, what a life-affirming speech. And then, at 11:00 I just lost it. After that, I no longer knew if I was laughing through my tears or crying over my laughter. Anyway, thanks Julia, for everything you've done and everything you will still do in the years to come. And thank you so much for beating cancer. You are an inspiration.

Been in love with her personality since 1993. I was 13, she was just amazing. Beautiful, funny, talented... She is still the same yet better. Veep is amazing. As a 38 year old man, married with a daughter, my standard of the perfect woman has not only been Ms Benes, but Ms Louis Dreyfus. Gets better with age. Beautiful, funny, incredibly talented. Absolutely flawless.

If you think about the whole speech, it's the work of a genius. To give a context and then to build a story on top of it is great. But to make that story incidental and funny is brilliant. And to make it the funniest story ever is just pure genius. JLD, you're the goddess of genius comedy.
