Very well done videos. It is hard to tell there use to be a railroad through there. It is easy to see why they gave up this route. the price of upkeep must have higher than what they made.
I hiked along this section in the early 90's. The sloughing of loose rock covering the grade in places is disheartening though inevitable. I was fortunate to walk across the Falls Lake trestle, IMO, the most beautiful railway trestle in North America. It's collapse was a tragic loss for KVR fans. GK
The Kettle Valley Railway ran through this area. The Coquihalla Subdivision opened in 1915 and continued to run till November of 1959, it was officially abandoned in 1962. The Kettle Valley Railway was a Subsidiary Rail line of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

Fantastic vid, that was one heck of a rail line. In the end , nature always wins....
Great video, beautiful country. Thanks for sharing!
The KVR would have been a perfect home for the Royal Hudson 2860

Thanks for the video. I've only read about this line.
Josh, great video, beautiful scenes, music and informational comments. Makes one want to go there for a spell. Thank you.
Bellissimo panorama.
Must have been a stunning trip thru this canyon on the train.
One can only imagine what it was like, wish I could have experienced it!
@@joshwhite2261 me too! I've seen old films, but doesn't do it justice. You wouldn't even know there was a rail line there in some places.
would you be interested in exploring/filming the Brookmere to Coquihalla summit section?
Kinda makes me wonder if the former BCR/PGE line will look like this one day soon😢
what used to be here?

@@joshwhite2261 Scary place to build a railroad those days, cant imagine how they could build it and maintain it so long.
@@oysespmoney n mining. Had to have been lucrative!
It is amazing to see how quickly the environment has obliterated human efforts to establish a foothold in this wilderness.
