Thank you for this! Thanks to your video I, a 49 year woman who has no experience with cars, could replace my shattered window glass! Excellent instructions 👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I had to smash my car window after the lock broke with my baby inside the car. Following this video I (34 year old women with no mechanical experience) fitted the window myself and saved £250 in the processes. Brilliant video! Thank you!
Somebody just did the same thing to us tonight (broke into our truck). Looking in UA-cam just this video, thanks for the time you took to teach us this process. Great video. 😁
If you have power windows it's going to be almost exactly the same just make sure you disconnect the power connector for the window switch before completely pulling the door panel to avoid damaging any wires; and you'll need to have your ignition on to manipulate the window when removing/ installing the glass.
Great video helped me a great deal. My window was off track, didn't know about the bolts to loosen the the tracks. Worked like a charm. job took 10 minutes. Had I not seen this great video, I would have shattered the window by forcing into track. Very Thankful
Thanks Mate. I was having dramas trying to get the circlip of the window winder first, but then trying to put the new glass back in was an issue. I scrolled through the vid, found the part how to put it in left end first and walla! Its done. I was quoted $260 AUD, but brought one from the wreckers for $45 AUD. I prob could have got it cheaper, but its winter and can't afford the cops putting a default notice on it. Cheers and take my Thumbs up! You deserve it!
I used this as inspiration to replace a side window in my 04 Pilot that I unfortunately knocked out with a rock with a weedwhacker :( $68 for the glass, a few hours install. Thanks for the video!
For some vehicles, the window fit is so tight or the seals sticky and old, one way to make it easier is to generously lubricate with soapy water and a paintbrush
After watching this video turns out replacing a car window isn't as hard as I thought. I needed to replace my passenger window and quarter window and I was quoted 300 for the passenger and 900 for the quarter. I did it myself and it cost me around 200 for everything.
I wonder if stuffing the open door cavity full with a towel or some spare/junk wrapping foam would be a worthwhile precaution in the unlikely event one did accidentally drop the glass during installation?
You know that's a great idea. I'm replacing the window on my boss's expensive Audi tomorrow, we had to wait a week for the glass, I'm actually going to do that.....thanks
Good video. I already knew how to replace a window but figured in the event that I hit a snag that there might be a tip that would help... Loosening the track itself will likely do the trick. Thanks a lot man.
I need to replace the front drivers side glass on a 2019 Ford Flex. It is electric windows. Your video was one with the manual roll up type. Is is pretty much the same for the electric windows ?
Best intro ever. I wish there was a video on a 2004 jeep liberty for this....it's quite a bit harder on it :/ I only payed $15 for the glass but getting it out was a utter pita and required far more than your video did lol.
@@mattrobey2508 Wish I could, but honestly after almost 5 years I don't remember, some asshole nailed me about 18 months later and totaled my Jeep, I then parted it out and sold it all off. My clips/bracket were different style though and I ended up having to move some pieces off the old window to the new window in order to make it work.
Was ready to say some BS but that tip on making the"nose" and "back" of glass slide in Grove...then sliding back up the way you did Helped!!. Hmmhmm.....so, ..... Thanks 🤷🏾♂️
Tonight my truck was broken Into while I was at work. I’m about to do this job I have some experience in mechanic work and I hope this is as easy as it seems. I do have a different truck though.
I was replacing passenger side door window on my 1997 Honda Odyssey and kind of stuck as how to get it started on both side window run channel. I googled and watched your video and got the job done in half an hour. Awesome video and very good detailed instructions. Good job. Thank you very much.
Hi, Ben--Same thing happened to my wife's 2005 Odyssey. We have glass insurance, only the guy they sent out didn't bother to clean the glass off of the latch assembly. When glass bits tumbled into the latch, it got jammed in the locked position. Then actuator hammered itself to death every time she pressed the lock / unlock button on her key ring. Doing the trim removal etc, was next to impossible with the door shut, and when I finally took it to a dealer, fixing the latch and actuator cost over 700.00! The glass person's response....well the new window works fine, so I'm out of here.
GREAT video. Trying to replace an Expedition window and this showed me the second half of the job - actually getting the window inserted. Thanks for the share.
Thank you so much for this video. It was the glass installation portion that I could not figure out prior to this video. Very informative. Carry on. This is well done. Colin
Awsome video you are the only one with a video on this tyvm.. I only ask for one on power windows guessing not much diff I'll find out soon jus lil worried about electric stuff
thanks for sharing, i have the same problem broken glass need to replace it. but mine is a power window so may be a little technical procedure than an manual window.
I used this to put in a cut to size 1/4' acrylic sheet in a magnum when my car was broken into looks very official when cut to size and works much better then tape
The window guides that are glued to the glass on mine are plastic and they are what's broke my window itself is fine. What do I use to get that epoxy and broken plastic pieces off the glass so I can install new ones?
Where exactly do you put the window guides on the glass prior to putting in on the window regulator? Will be waiting for Answer 05/09/2019 at 6:08pm EST
This is such a good video. I am surprised that I like the host, I can relate to his tired sighs after doing smell motions; case and point 5:00 . Very useful information, I'm sick of relying on expensive ass mechanics
It looks like you fit the window in skinny part first and then just shifted it around. So the key is loosening the track. Is this the same for the rear passenger side window? Please post ASAP. Doing this today!
HELP I just bought passenger door glass at amazon for my 2000 GMC sierra 1500 pick up the bottom of the glass is not flat or level front to back I'm not sure if this is the correct glass or not been driving with no glass for two weeks to work back n forth how can I find out if this is the correct glass or not?
I had someone throw a brick through the drivers door window in my 1998 E350 1 ton, the glass bracket was put on with rivets so I spent almost 2 hours trying to drill out the rivets . I am having a problem getting the new glass in the window track,(not the regulator track but the actual window opening track) can get it into the back but not the front, the glass is quite curved, any tips on what to do.......ty
Great video. ONE important piece of information missing. Notice how he insert the glass from outside in.. If you insert the glass from the inside, it will not go in. He showed how but didn't explain that part.
Hello sir.loved ur video.one question. Does this template of replacing window glass applies to all cars.or different car manufacturers have different connections and boltings/screwings. I mean does all cars have same type of such mechanism.
this isn't the model of vehicle i need to change the window on(kia soul) but this video is handy for the basic mechanics of replacing a window in smoothly
The bolt that holds the glass to the regulator on my truck came loose and fell off, thus causing the window to break. Why doesnt the factory put a little lock tite or something on the bolts? Is there a good reason not to?
my window clips (03 Lincoln Nav,) seem to be Siliconed to the pane, is it a necessity to correctly marry the pieces back together ? Please try to respond, do i "need" to scrape the old silicone out, then add new, then marry the clips back onto the window for "Holding Power" ??

I know you probably didn't but I imagined "Mommies commin!" and glass shooting at your baby. Im glad things worked out
Where did you put the window guides on the window before putting it back in the door and on the window regulator?

Where is the power connector for the switch?
