LOVE WILL: Brylynn's Story

Brylynn needed a new kidney and liver. Surgeons transplanted both, giving her more moments with mom.
Born with non-functioning kidneys, Brylynn was transferred to Children’s Mercy to undergo surgery when she was only seven days old. And although the surgery to start dialysis was a success, the toxic disease had caused multiple infections and was starting to affect her liver, too.
At just over two years old, she underwent a successful double kidney and liver transplant thanks to the experts at the Children’s Mercy Surgery Center. As one of only 10 centers in the nation to be verified as a Level I Children’s Surgery Center, it meant Brylynn received only the highest level of care. Today, Brylynn is an active, enthusiastic nine-year-old who loves baking, disco dance parties, and even playing doctor. She says she wants to be an obstetrician when she grows up.
Given that she’s seen how Love Will help beat the odds, we can’t wait to see how she’ll help others do the same.
