But he has made some fine and critically admired albums this millennium, e.g Songs from the West Coast, The Union, which was ranked #3 of the year in the US by Rolling Stone. The problem is that people think instead of Princess Di, Disney or inferior soundtracks etc.
All good points but he has put out some dross as well. Apparently Bernie Taupin rates this album only slightly higher than Leather Jackets. Which I think is harsh on Leather Jackets.

After not following Elton John's music for 26 years I recently listened to all the albums he did from 1992 to 2006 and this was one of the few songs I liked. Out of the 8 albums I listened to there were 11 songs that I enjoyed. It doesn't bother me that Elton John doesn't have the same creative drive he had in his 20s. His first 200 songs are magnificent and I cherish those albums.

I'd say Big Picture is his weakest album of the last 25 years. Before that, Leather Jackets was worse, and Victim of Love was another low point
Peachtree Road was weak, TBP is a fine album
