Ruby Dixon writes soft sweet light romances that happen to involve giant blue aliens or dragon shifters. I think Den of Vipers was a dark romance. So vibes wise they are super different. IPB is weird lite basically. It's a nonhuman love interest so it seems weird when you haven't read monster smut before. Now, if you want more sex and monster smut, you must read a Lady of Rooksgrave Manor. Also sweet and caring and some real good interpersonal development, but it's a reverse harem of a human woman who is a nympho and into monsters and works at a brothel. It's erotica so sex is pivotal to the plot, and you get a little of everything(teasing, feeding, exhibition, voyeurism, tentacles, hooks, MMF, group, DP, etc). It's not dark though. It was also my introduction to monster smut, which is funny in hindsight because it's a lot. But it's genuinely a great book and you must read it.

Barbarian Alien (the 2nd book) is better than the first IMO. Most of them are a lot lighter than the first book and in the new Special Edition release of IPB, Ruby Dixon edited the scene that most people found disturbing in the first one. I read 16 of the books this year and they are honestly really enjoyable and fun.

Uhm....I read Den of Vipers two weeks ago and the first half wasn't as bad as I though it would be. The other half was odd though, I felt like the dialogue turned even worse after I hit the 50% mark. However, I read a book that I had to dnf after the first third of it because it was even worse than Den of Vipers. Not plot wise but the writing was absolutely atrocious and the pacing gave me whiplash. I'd rather read Den of Vipers a second time than continue this book (such a shame cause it had potential)

Many authors have pen names and even maintain anonymity, due to the stigma of romance and erotica. And there’s a common criticism of romances regarding anatomy in relation to sex scenes, and they’re definitely largely written by women…either the back of the book or website/socials include author photos.

Although I've got a feeling plain romance or having books published where I live and with the field I'm planning to go into would just be interesting to potential employers.
