I have had my channel on a sort of effective hiatus. But I miss it. UA-cam hits so much of the things I find in my other interests that it is like creative crack. Writing. Storytelling. Helping people. Using different things together (visuals, writing, presentation, etc). As some of my other interests wane I am finding myself drawn back in 😁
It's very difficult to draw a conclusion like the one he mentions at 3:30 about what works best regarding the relationship between a thumbnail/title... The example he used was buying land vs. buying a foreclosed house. The search volume of buying land is exponentially more than buying a foreclosed property. What that tells me is the overall demand is much much lower for the foreclosed topic, hence you can expect the overall traffic to be lower as well. All of that to say, I'm not a UA-cam video expert...
Thank you for this video 🤝. I am experiencing exactly what you said in my last videos, and I am learning more and more. SO exciting! For me, the most important part is understanding my mistakes from the past.

vidIQ plugin is very helpful too. I might subscribe to it for $19 a month. It can automatically rewrite your titles based on titles that would perform better. I tested it on 3 videos and it helped a lot.
Totally agree with this. Wherever you are, I have faith if you just keep going it will all work out. Best of luck to all the other channels out there trying to figure this thing out! We got this
I’d actually disagree with “only do what works”. My top video ever (1.3 million) was something I’d never done before and is not that popular in my niche. the same with some of my other top videos. Try a mix of tried and true and new formats.
I have no experience, but it stands to reason that the best idea is first to replicate, then to iterate. It sounds like you've gotten to understand through replication enough to the point that you're able to iterate
I'm not sure that's what he's saying. I just think that it's about finding inspiration in other niches as well as your own. Finding what works in every niche.
Your title is *too long* and so is your long form video, therefore the complete opposite of people's time. You now currently have *_15K_* views, within 3 weeks. I did that in _3 hours,_ with a *brand new* channel.
I didn't actually read the title of this video. I saw the text on the video, and recognised him from a previous video you made. And clicked because I wanted to watch something. Interesting
Titles, thumbnails and editing togther cannot beat content. Lately a trained surgeon who decided to live in the wild went viral with 0 editing, crappy sound m, no edited thumbnail. YT decides what and who to promote or shadow ban. Titles, thumbnails and editing are important but less than topic and content.
Ugh! I hate clickbait titles. I appreciate the need for them. But I refuse to click a clickbait title even if the content looks great. I'm so tired of reading "My best title advice yet..." and then next week it's "My best title advice ever!". Clever clickbait is good. That being said, my titles have been pretty boring. Thanks for the advice. Time to spice it up a little.
1/3 into this video and so many chances you could have actually given us the before title and after title or concrete examples of titles and missed to do it 8:46
Your oldest title was way more representative : Meet the Man Who Solved UA-cam Titles (Jake Thomas Interview). I was about to send the video to someone (I remembered you did this video) and almost scrolled pass throuhg it..
Would it not be faster, and perhaps a bit more ethical, to simply subscribe to everyone’s channel who comments on this video and have all return the favor? On the current count, that would be over 1000 new subscribers instantly and take a lot less time than to upload 50shorts a day for who knows how long? Who’s in? Let’s do this guys❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This title in itself is based upon a template. I’ve seen many times 99% something…. It seems like 20% of the titles in UA-cam have this 99% so this title is probably among those 99% that you referred to.
Jay, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the exhaustion of negative titles. Negativity, drama, and fear may get you to click, but my videos have little negativity, drama, or fear. I appreciate the recommendation to look for inspiration out of my niche.
Ok when we use text on thumb we use a trigger to click that strikes audience's value which they seek for in the video.. if he seek for an info then use do or dont do this ... Or you will be.. or this is how it works or how you can be) do /make ... Or this is how you can do .... But what if the audience seek entertainment ... Sure u will just choose a great scene or cut and describe it like ... He want to kill me .... That man tried to .... No one beat him .... I found a treasure ...you just trigger audience wants with a curious way

I resonate with your tentativeness around using fear in titles. I know it makes people click. But all else equal, I want a world with LESS fear in it. Fear jacks up our nervous system, and causes us to think more narrowly. It does seem questionable to me to create fear where it need not exist. (This all depending of course on the topic of the piece of content. An article about seatbelts might be a great time to use fear in a title)

46% Desire
39% Fear
