Watching you, Michael, ALWAYS guarantees that I'll leave with a smile on my face. You got the gift. Gifts, I should say. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Your wife is brilliant! I hope that the chickens earn their feed in egg production. The guitar looks and sounds fantastic. If you are pleased that is the only thing that matters. I love the semi-hollow t style. Enjoy!
Luv the build and the links. I would replace that measuring cup so I wouldn't have to ask the wife why the crust on the peach cobbler was a strange color.😜👍👍✌️
I like the stain once it was all together. Then is looked spot on. I think because it’s semi hollow sounded bit more lively. Whatever it sounded great.😊
Looks and sounds great! I'm thinking of trying to play a 6 string again but I'll be tuning it to an open chord. You have spoiled me with 3 string tuning and how easy it is to play. Keep them coming.
Well, Michael. I have to confess that I had a complete brain fart that caused me to think you had lost your mind on the finish. As usual, it came out fantastic! (The finish, not the brain fart!) Great job!
It came out awesome as always mate! Sounds great too. I would like to see it with the head stained the same... to me, the bare head (the guitars, not yours) would make the whole guitar look more 'finished'. I think it would look even awesomer if you have some brass or gold tuners? Don't forget, I am waiting for you to make the Rat-A-Blaster (with bullet holes) haha. Greetings from down under
I love it! The finish and the sound! Listening to you play today reminded me of one of my favourites from Australia (because I’m from Australia). So I’m putting in a request, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, “Most People I Know”. It would be great to hear you do a cover.
Hey Michael... that is a really Unique looking Wood on the Body of the Guitar, and I Agree - the Grain on the Neck is Awesome!!! To be honest, I wasn't crazy about the Finish on the Body UNTIL the Pick Guard was installed ... that contrast made it POP and it looks Amazing!!! Love it!!! Sounds GREAT and what a Guitar!!! Great Job!!! I'm really ENJOYING the Barncaster...so FUN to play, Whammy Bar is a Blast, and I have the COOLEST Custom One of a Kind Guitar North of the 49th Parallel...!!!!! Thanks Again...SO much!!!!
Michael, that came out great and sounds fantastic. I tried building a es335 copy from Solo Music Gear over the winter. My wife is allergic to strong smells from lacquers and finishes with strong solvents so I decided to try a water based poly finish. I stained it with Trans Tint red and didn’t realize I left some of the sealer on it. It looked terrible so I sanded it down and started over. Same result, so I mixed the stain with the poly and gave it three coats. It still looked bad so I sanded it level (I was using a foam brush to apply it.) I gave it ten or twelve coats of clear and sanded and buffed it. It looks pretty good and sounds good with some epiphone pro buckers.
@@SouthernFireGuitars yeeeeahhh... I finished mines now, I didn't expect mine to turn out so good, the 7 string come with a really really nice neck, im doing the 8 string now... im probably the only 7 and 8 string player that hates metal and plays grunge and blues haha
Looks and sounds great Michael! Those pickups sound pretty nice for the price! I was actually hoping to watch you adjust the trust rod for learning purposes! Love Thinline guitars...
Hi Michael, The guitar sounds great. I didn't like the body on its own but once the guitar was fully assembled it looked very impressive. The pickguard enhances the appearance. Do you have Rustyns wood staining products over there? Brian May used one of their products to stain the body of his Red Special mamy many years ago. The neck on your latest guitar was a thing of beauty, odd that the body wasn't quite the same standard. See you in the next one!
Simply love it. I got the same kit for me to build. However I do have a couple questions for you. First thing I would like to know is just how microphonic are those pickups? Second question for you now. I was thinking about painting mine a cream sickle orange. I know sounds a little different lol. How can I keep the paint from getting inside the f hole? Or is that even going to matter? I would like for it to have more of a professional paint job appearance
Thanks Dewayne. The pickups aren't too bad. You could tape up inside of the F hole with some type of tweezers won't be easy, but could be done. I took a small brush and just stained the inside to match. Good luck with it. M~
I've enjoyed your videos. I've learned a lot from you. I've got a question. How do you determine the scale of a cigar box guitar. My Wife bought me one last year. But the intonation is off. It's sharp at the 12th fret. It doesn't have what I would call a bridge. So I'll have to make one or use a bolt. Thank you again for the videos
I had a blast, too. But the finish is awful. 🙂 It just is. But that makes it yours. (In the future, wipe the stain with a rag before it dries. You would have seen the grain; could have added a coat or two (or 4) to your liking and would not have had the blotchy look you worked so hard to eliminate by sanding it all out in the beginning.)
It was terrible stain, first time using it. Barn Red, sounded good, but it was like PAINT. My plan was to wipe it off, as I always do when I stain a piece, but this stuff didn't wipe off. lol It was like glue. That's on my lists of projects, to take all that ugly stain off and re finish that guitar, cause I really like the look of it. Of course I'll have to do a video on that. lol M~
According to the "Internet Experts" your guitar will have poor sustain as it is not a "string-through" bridge (as of course a Les Paul lacks also - and we all know they are famous for their lack of sustain). Also the tone will be poor as you do not have brass saddles. As it is not a "tone-wood" body, it makes me wonder why you are bothering at all. Just proves "Internet Experts" suck.
Watching you, Michael, ALWAYS guarantees that I'll leave with a smile on my face.

I have afeeling she's used to it.
Thanks John. LOL
This is a homemade guitar finish. It has a do it yourself type of simple charm to it. Like the backyard type of do it yourself dark barn red .
I like the stain once it was all together. Then is looked spot on. I think because it’s semi hollow sounded bit more lively. Whatever it sounded great.😊
Thank you Walter. M~
Buster Approved !
It looks and also sounds good.

Needs a name on the headstock.
I love it. I may have gone more coffee on the color but I really like the overall look. Nice job.

enjoyed watching you work and it turned out great..keep 'em flying

Nice job on the finish👍That neck does have some sweet grain. It's crazy how cheap China can make things
Thanks, That is crazy. yes/ lol
Neat to see you working outside, trying different stain combinations, turned out very nice😎😎 Sounds great.
Thanks Ron. M~
It turned out great!

Great job buddy😊
Frankenstain is a cool name for your guitar. I enjoyed your build on this one and sounds decent as well. 🤘🎶🎵
Thank you Timothy. M~
Brilliant love the way you finished that. Very jealous though that you have the suppliers over there that we don't on the UK.

It has some amazing sustain. I guess that's from the double stain treatment! Lol. Good job.
Thanks Dave. You maybe right LOL
I think you did a great job . It's different but looks great and it sounds great . Thanks for sharing
Thanks Jessie. M~
I LOVE IT! Not a bad sounding guitar too! The guy doing the pickin looks kinda shady though! 🤣
Thanks Mike. LOL M~
Another nice guitar man! 👍🏼Might as well go full hollow on the next one!
Thanks TJ. I may have to do that. M~ 😎
I build a Strat with hum backing and pick ups
That color for years ago older it gets the better it sounds

By the way, the guitar looks awesome 😎👍. Sounds good too

Waiting for that jazz guitar build?
HUmmmmm Maybe 😎
I have to admit that, this music isn’t my cup of tea, but I did listen to it and didn’t bother me, so I guess it’s ok!
Love it man would love to own it

Measure from the nut to the 12th fret, then double it, this will give you the scale length.
Hey mike...its well.put together.sounds decent..but the color is way too dark..kinda kills it
