Good informative video Paul, I do enjoy the science side of this hobby. Thanks to Dr Tim for taking the time to give a great explanation of the importance of bacteria in a reef system.
Absolutely fantastic two parter. Learnt so much from watching you both. Particularly interested in the intermittent use of a skimmer and the bacteria dosing gel. One of the best marine videos I've watched all year. Thank you 👍
Thanks for watching 🙌🏻. A very good point and would happen to me with 1 tank as I have a tunze ATO that has an alarm but would be ok with the Red Sea ATO.
sorry doc tim’s, i’ve seen and read many tanks on the dino group who have dinos no matter the nutrient content/ state. i believe it really is about an immature microbiome in the tank the first year with dry rock. i cycled dry rocks in a bin for over a year using your ammonia & one/only, and i still underwent dinos & cyano. the rocks are now over 3 years old… and they continue to have issues every now & then with stable nutrient parameters
I think there are very many ways of triggering dino’s in a tank and is far more prevalent in the hobby than say 8 years ago or so when live rock was available. The lack of biodiversity in new tanks whilst using dry rocks seems to make a tank more likely to have an outbreak of dino’s 🤷♂️

Great part two. Brilliant you were able to get him on for a chat. Fascinating stuff that gets you thinking.
I agree, great chat and some of the stuff we discussed was a bit different and not really heard of before

Thanks Jay 🙏🏻 I am going to try the gel on one of the tanks to see how it works and does it work
Nice one Paul 👍
As always Tony thanks for watching 🙏🏻👍🏻🙌🏻
great video, but the part with timer on skimmer, i have tried but had to go 24/7 since when it turn off my ato goes alarm until i remove water
