  • 60 and 30 second version of a 1965 Kentucky Fried Chicken jingle. The number on the disc indicates it was cut by Nashville Matrix for Southern Plastics (they were next door to each other) in 1965.
Apologies for the distortion at the end of the jingles, the disc is cut absolutely red hot, and those end grooves are well greyed. Looks like this disc got a good run on heavy tracking period equipment. This was the best it would sound after trying 4 different cartridges with 6 different styli - and what do you know, the best sounding one was...heavy tracking period equipment.

Local announcer adds the location of "your local Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant" at 0:50 and 1:28.

Barry I. Grauman of course, that makes perfect sense. Unlike some other KFC discs I’ve got, there’s no accompanying literature so it didn’t immediately occur to me that they were opens

The 60's were a little weird, weren't they?
