I got to meet Jerry in Seattle when he was promoting Smokey and the Bandit. He was sick with Bronchitis . But he still sang East bound and down. Rip Snowman.

The Kenworth in this movie was a 1973 Kenworth K-123 it has the gold & chrome KW grill logo, which they only did in 1973 for Kenworth's 50th Anniversey addition, Smokey and the Bandit also had a 1973 Kenworth W-900, by looking at the grill logo you can tell, they also has 74', the episodes Movin' On Kenworth was a 1972, because it has a Pre-73 cab with no gold & logo on the grill which makes it a 1972

I have always loved Jerry Reeds music. He has a wonderful voice and being from Atlanta (his hometown)! I love that accent! Wish I could find this song to put on my Playlist.
I saw the edited for TV version. I just looked up this song today. Great track. I notice it's signature Jerry Reed, with a bit of Allman Brothers and Atlanta Rhythm Section flavor.
I can picture a convoy here, Snowman, Bandit, Iron Duke, Rubber Duck, Pig Pen, Spider Mike, Bulldog, Blue Mule, Mr. B, Little Beaver, Septic Sam, Big Nasty, Black Widow and Jack Crews don't mess wit these truckers!!!!!!
I am a Logistics guy from Louisiana, USA 🇺🇸. L8ve in Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺. Grew up with trucking and C.B. Radio. Handle was Ghostrider. Hearing this song is great. Reminds me if those times I talked on radio.
Well a million miles of highway has rolled underneath these wheels, And many times I've had to stand and fight for what I feel, Now anything worth believing is worth fighting to believe, And you can't trust Lady Luck to tuck those aces up your sleeve, 'Cause when you're high rollin' you play the cards and you bet it all, And when you're high rollin' you just let the chips fall, Brother, take that wheel of fortune in your hand, And stand by what you stand for as a man, Well I can bring you to your knees boy, But that don't mean that you have to crawl, Reach back and find some backbone when your back is up against the wall, They may stack that deck against you, But you can damned sure take your cuts, 'Cause when it gets down to down and dirty, That's when you got to trust your guts, 'Cause when you're high rollin' you play the cards and you bet it all, When you're high rollin' you just let the chips fall, Brother, take that wheel of fortune in your hands, And stand by what you stand for as a man.
I have this movie on DVD, and it's a pretty good movie - this song is icing on the cake. If I recall correctly, the movie was filmed in Canada - specifically, the Toronto area. Not bad.
+George M I saw this one in the theater back in '78. Loved it then and love it now. And you said it well about this song being icing on the cake. Mr. Reed was known for his funny songs, but he did some cool serious ones as well.
I watched it and really didn’t think too much of, there are some areas where it is pretty obvious filming issues. Like going from snowy winter to a wet spring in a scene, a scene where you can see Jerry climb over the trucker through the windshield. I like the story a lot, just some little things.

The actual movin' on show had 2 74, 1 75 and 1 modified 73, The black & green Kenworth from the switch episodes was a 1976 Kenworth W-925, the 1972 pilot truck was also a W-925 all the rest were W-900's, The Pilot episode of B.J. and the Bear had a 1974 Kenworth K-123, 2 1978's, 2 1977's and 2 1980's and 1 1976 Kenworth Aerodyne's the second movie of Smokey and the Bandit had 2 1980 GMC General's, while Black Dog had 4 1994 Peterbilt 379's
