I bought an Ibanez JSM10 (Scofield) model last year & swapped out the stock pickups for Lollar Imperials & an Emerson pre-wired kit. Same basic body style as this guitar. Satisfied my GAS for a 335. Love your playing as always Ben!
I had a 2004 AS73, which was excellent. It was heavier than I expected, but very versatile. In the end, however, I found myself always taking a Telecaster to gigs, so I sold the Ibanez. If I wanted a 335-style guitar again, It would probably be another Ibanez. Another one I owned was a Washburn HB35, and it was nowhere near as good.
Hey, thats good to get that opinion, I was reading that the hb35 had a lot of feel and mojo and was a great 335 option. So I'm back to Ibanez again. When will I just stop this search and maximize my tele?
Thank you so much for watching! Both are excellent models, and very similar. Since they’re so similar, I think it mostly comes down to personal taste! Let me know if you have any other questions
Thanks! You can hear some more of the guitar's acoustic qualities in this video, just with nickel wound strings: ua-cam.com/video/UaWGpY6Nb10/v-deo.html
Such a lovely sounding guitar, especially the drive sounds. The major part is your playing, of course. Nevertheless, could you say more about which drive pedal and settings and which amp and settings?
Thank you so much, yes it is a lovely guitar! Drive is coming from my Tech 21 Oxford pedal, and the rest is from a variety of plugins. I'll make a video soon going through my gear!
I believe the difference is that the AS93BC is made from Bocote (BC) and the AS93FM is made from Flamed Maple (FM). Both guitars are typically sold for the same price. Thanks for watching!
Great question - perhaps I'll make a comparison video, but the most obvious difference to me is that the AM153QA has a significantly smaller body to this guitar (the AS93BC) - maybe this just comes down to personal taste! Thanks for watching!
Great question! I'll have to make a comparison video as there are some definite similarities, but also some very specific differences. Thanks for watching!
There are some similarities and some differences. Perhaps most notably differences in body size/shape, and the AM2000H is a full-hollow body guitar where this (AS93BC) is a semi-acoustic. Both slightly different, but both sound beautiful! Thanks for watching!

gorgeous guitar
I agree!

Thanks so much for sharing, I think Ibanez have perfected the semi-acoustic instrument!

Very nice, Ben. Have any thoughts on the AS93BC vs the AS93FM? Looking at both at the moment. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching! Both are excellent models, and very similar. Since they’re so similar, I think it mostly comes down to personal taste! Let me know if you have any other questions
This is an awesome video. Is there a way to make it sound more acoustic? Maybe nylon strings?

@@beneunson Awesome, thank you.
Nice!
Thanks!
what is the difference between the as93bc and as93fm, i am so confused, is it just the top? (theres price difference between these two models)

So how do you compare it to the Artstar AM153QA (one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen from Ibanez)?
Great question - perhaps I'll make a comparison video, but the most obvious difference to me is that the AM153QA has a significantly smaller body to this guitar (the AS93BC) - maybe this just comes down to personal taste! Thanks for watching!
@@beneunson Thanks a lot for your reply. I look forward to your comparison video. :)
I can tell you've listened to a lot of Frank Gambale.
Frank is a legend!
Great video Ben! Even though they are very similar, what tonal differences do you notice between the AS and the AM?
Great question! I'll have to make a comparison video as there are some definite similarities, but also some very specific differences. Thanks for watching!
@@beneunson It would be great! Thank you
Ben was is your signal chain for the clean and drive settings, both beautiful sounds?
Thank you so much! The drive is coming from my Tech 21 Oxford pedal, and all the rest is coming from a variety of plugins.
@@beneunson Thanks Ben👍🏻
Hi Ben. Which string gauge do you use on this guitar?
Thanks so much for asking, I have 10-46 on this guitar!
How about AS93BC vs AM2000H ?😁
Both are beautiful, and both are very different in subtle ways - maybe I'll make a comparison video!
I wanna know, too.
How would you compare it to the AM2000H?

Depending on the model or year made, Ibanez guitars have such a thin neck. Some don't like the thin neck, but it fits perfectly with my small hands.
I love a nice slim Ibanez neck!
Looks liké scofield anniversary are They similar ?
I think the Scofields have a slightly thicker neck than regular as guitars
It is a bit similar!
does anyone knows the weight of this guitar?
18kg
😅
Not sure of the exact weight, but it is quite light in my opinion.
@@beneunson Thanks!!
My AS93FM-TCD has 3.6kg
Yes, until the next one that is...
Haha perhaps! 🤣
Hostage video feel. Just sayin’. Serious playing, obviously.
😂😂😂 thanks for watching
If Metheny and Scofield had a child they'd sound like this ;)
Both favorites of mine, thanks so much for listening!
