      Wasn't dunking banned in the NCAA for 9 years? The highest scorer who ever played the game wasn't allowed to dunk. You don't think the sky hook was much more entertaining?
      Most of shack's dunks were fouls the refs didn't call. He just jumped on top of people. But I understand that some people rather watch power plays while a lot of people like me enjoy the display of skill.

      Yeah, I liked him in Orlando but hated him kind of in LA, I was a Dallas/Suns fan by the out West but as an old 1980s Celtics fan I could never cheer for the Lakers...but even when he bulked up he was fucking almost unstoppable in the paint, I started watching the NBA around 1981 and til this day no player other than Jordan was more scary than Shaq, a man his size even after getting fat as fast as he was was....well scary.

    I was a Shaq fan-I had the sneakers, was obsessed with the movie, listened to the music. I had Shaq posters too. MJ is the GOAT, but there’s no denying that Shaq was electrifying in the 90s.

    Very well done, and eye-opening. I'm not much of an NBA fan these days but I remember watching a lot of the classic rivalries of the late 80's and early 90's with my dad. I love that Shaq credits Michael with helping him get to his next level. It's a great story.

      Stopped watchin NBA also but back in the days, ( given time zones) we were up all nights watching NBA games. My dad obviously loving mj ( rightfully a centennial Talent never to be compared) and I being ( up to day ) a Shaq admirer. These were the days....
      Not sure it was the suttle rivalry between the two, but I like your take/aproach on Shaq going to LA. But I always loved Shaqs honesty in giving due credit.... What a guy 🥰

      Ivan Bautista i mean that’s not the best comparison. The magic won 57 games and even in the early years of his career Shaq was becoming increasingly dominant and Hardaway looking like an all star 2nd option. Clyde the Glide was nowhere near the same level he was in say 1992. Hakeem just simply outplayed Shaquille O Neal in every facet of the game

      I did not say that Shaq was not good. He's clearly one of the best to ever do it. Even Hakeem said that Lakers Shaq was unstoppable. I'm just making a comment about that finals series when Hakeem roasted him. Shaq talked a whole bunch of trash when he was young, and the old heads put him in his place when he was young. As Shaq was quoted in that video, he had to go through getting checked before he matured into the dominant player that he became.

      they could have simply blown a whistle or two, that could've helped, but no, the average nba consumer was in awe of his power, so every non call foul happened because that consumer wanted for those plays, that were actually offensive fouls, to be judged clean. Same with jordan, he is allowed to foul as long as his buckets are flashy.

      he didn't hold Shaq by himself. Stop. Double teams schemes and Hack a Shaq is what you're giving Rodman credit for against Shaq. Having said that, Rodman was a great defender - but he could not hold Shaq.

      Wilt was a better player than Russel, Russel just had better players around him, MJ is better than both.
      Both played in an era with more than double the possessions, perfect to pad stats and only 8 teams in the league. Still Russel does not have better stats than MJ, Wilt does, again more than double the possessions.
      Thats why nobody considers them even top3 of all time, you dont have culture or knowledge to judge basketball players.

    Dennis Rodman was a excellent player and although he was smaller than Shaq he put pressure on him physically every game something almost no other man in the league could do at the time.

      @@johnnaewilliams422 yeah but shaq in the 90s was a real living Titan for fuck sake …. Hahaha I remember watching those games as a kid and there was no one who could neutralize Shaq … Rodman was the only person who I ever saw during that era actually keep him slightly at bay physically.
      Shaq use to carry two defenders with him to the goal and put down the 2 through intentional fouls at least with Rodman he could intentionally foul and keep Shaq from pushing through and scoring.
      Dennis Rodman has to be one of the strongest physically people to ever play in the NBA I mean watching him play he was by far one of the most naturally athletic people to play you never saw him getting pushed around and his game IQ was amazing he was contesting EVERY rebound and diving for every loose ball .
      Without Rodman MJ wouldn’t of got those last few Rings….
      If I was building a dream team for
      Sure I’d want Rodman on the team guy played 110% every minute he was on the court hard as fuck wanting to win.
      But Pippen was great to much less Steve Kerr the Bulls had a amazing squad back then very well rounded and MJ had more game and want to win than anyone ever they were a Magical moment in sports history if MJ dad wouldn’t of gotten murdered and MJ went kinda crazy for a couple years no telling how many rings they might of actually had together.
