This movie was a fever dream and i wish it was longer, cause i used to think this was so underrated. In fact, i remember exactly why i thought this movie was so good. I did not care nor remember about the actual story, all i remembered was the tragic story about Astro's dad loosing his son and then creating a robot version of him that happens to have a mind of his own, instead of following the exact thoughts and dreams of his human version. So his dad, seeing that the robot version he created was not his son, gets upset and conflicted while trying to deal with his grief in the worst ways possible. And I used to think "Oh shit, this is so sad, so unexpected, so good, this movie is amazing, i've never seen a movie do this before, OH MY GAWD". Then i rewatched it a few years later when i remembered of it's existence and got upset af when this wasn't, like, the whole movie. But i still love it cause nostalgia
Watching the movie is like torture because it plays into Genuic tropes, over and over again, events in the flim happened to fast, and they don't develop the relationship between astro and his dad well, everything was on the nose,i wish it was better written and VA
I think the robot language was for the robots to speak to each other without interfering with life like how rt real toby Whouldn’t have seen or heard them talking shit about him Another thing that could be is to not have a robot revolution by letting them have their own “free” ideas, speech, and emotions
As mid as this movie is, you gotta admit the score did NOT have to go that hard. When i catch you John Ottman. Still kinda like the movie for nostalgia & the first half wasn’t too bad imo. Also, this video’s funny af i think i started choking at the closet joke. Def new sub.
I've always not really liked this movie, it was ok but, eh. I've always thought the 2003 series was the best, it was awesome one reason being Tenma IS the bad guy. His evilness was REALLY dumbed down in the movie. He was crazy and grieving but not EEEVIL. How can you not be a total psycho after making a robotic replica of your dead son?
this is probabaly not relatable to many, but i discovered astro boy through the show "Astro Boy: built for action" and ever since I saw the movie, I have always despised it. FYI: most people just call it "astro boy [1980]
