I returned my new SE 12 to take a chance on the Colorsoft. I just got it a couple of days ago and I'm so glad I did it! I don't see the yellowing in the bottom and I do love the newspaper like color feel of the display. I have an iPad mini already, but I really wanted a colored e-ink reader. love the vids! Keep it up!!

This was a good review and I have watched dozens of colorsoft reviews. I get the complaint about the yellow screen however, I think there are people who do not understand what they ordered. They really wanted a tablet and not a color e-ink reader. Also I’ve seen a lot of negative commentary from people who didn’t order the Colorsoft and haven’t any spend time using one. I also think some people are simply having buyers remorse after feeling pressured or “influenced ” to pre-order the first generation of a new device just because they saw other readers doing it, which is fine because that’s what Amazon’s return policy is for. I’ll be glad when the chaos dies down and we get true reviews and authentic thoughts on the device after some time of use.

Great review. I think I’ve convinced myself to get a colorsoft for my birthday in a couple of weeks. I choose my books from my kindle app on my iPad because I can see the covers in color. It just helps them not all look alike to me. Also, my kindle is from 2016 and I’ve never upgraded. I think it’s time and this one has features I love.

I had to send back my PW 12 SE due to the yellowing on the bottom half of the screen. I didn’t get a replacement for fear of the replacement having the same issue. I ordered the Kindle Scribe 1st generation instead and I LOVE it! Good to see you’re happy with your Colorsoft, I think the muted colors look nice. Enjoy!
Just ordered this. It is my second kindle. First was the 11th gen paper white signature. I wanted this to read comic collections with. If they ever do a color scribe, I might upgrade to that. Maybe next refresh.

Nicely done, but you had the font settings different when you compared them the lettering. You had the Colorsoft set at 1 boldness, and the Paperwhite at zero. If you go to Aa, then Font, then Bold, set them both at 1 and compare. It makes a significant difference.
Yes. I rewound a couple of times. I would love to see both compared, regular/bold. I’m sure that the paperwhite is better than the Colorsoft, or at least very very similar.
Again, I do appreciate your videos because it helps me to decide on how to spend my money. However, I came up with a solution that is Super Duper costly and gratifying. Readers preferences are different quite naturally. I don’t read manga or graphic novels at all. I don’t need covers to come in color or to be able to highlight in color because I have so many other tablets on hand, especially since I am generally working from another device composing a book review as I am reading or working on my reading journal. But I prefer to have a device that can do as many things as possible, while being dedicated to the reading itself. Therefore going with the Kindle fire HD 8 after trading in a Paperwhite, 11th edition, and a cracked eight HD 8, which gave me some serious credits. So for 50 bucks, I can do everything I need to do as a reader and as a book review, especially since I put a matte screen on the HD 8 which Really helps me deal with eye fatigue, considering I’m still reading on a Kindle Fire. Then factor in my necessity of TTS, read aloud and audiobooks.

I have the Paperwhite 11, a Kobo Aura Limited Edition and a Boox Nova Air, but I just bought the Kobo Libra Colour, which I love and I'm waiting for the Kindle Colorsoft. I think that in the end my favourites will always be Kindle and Kobo for their integrations with their Libraries service. Android wReaders are definitely not my thing.

I appreciate your review videos. But Amazon is not sold out. They have stopped shipment until they can find a resolution to the yellow bar at the bottom.
I've heard people complaining about the new paperwhites too. They are saying that there is some yellow issues on them too. I wanted them but I think I'm going to wait until Amazon has sorted all the issues.
You can definitely see the yellow at 8:52- mines the same and to me it’s still very useable but it would be nic3 if it was all white. Supposedly all 12th gen with the warm light have the issues - B&W and Colour.
It’s definitely lighting on the video. It’s not prominent. I will post another natural light picture. I also have the 12th gen and haven’t seen the yellow happening. This has me wondering still if it’s hardware or software. Thanks for watching!

just got mine!! luckily it doesn’t seem to have the yellow line of death. I love seeing the books in color, but yes, it is a little darker if I put it side by side with my paperwhite…. so I won’t 😂. I don’t know if it just me, but even the wifi seem to behave better in this device vs my old paperwhite
I really believe the people returning the colorsoft is the price. Overall the price is reasonable because it is waterproof, 32g, wireless, color, high speed faster than the paperwhite 12gen, ad free (which other devices you have to pay $20 to remove) I think people forget that. I just ordered mine hopefully comes soon.
I totally agree. It’s a lot to ask people to pay for a device that doesn’t have the “wow” factor, but this is a lot of device for the price. I think it’s worth it in hope you enjoy your device!
I ended up ordering a Colorsoft January 5th, mine doesn’t seem to have a yellow banding. I also wanted buttons so I bought a kobo libra colour and it is nice also, reminds me of my oasis. (I have an issue, yes, I have 2 e readers lol)

I like my colorsoft just fine. I switched from a Kindle Oasis, which I really like, but I was tired of its size and weight due to my small and arthritic hands. My only complaint, other than no page-turning buttons, is that I keep forgetting that the power button is on the bottom of the device, and I keep looking for it on the top!

I agree that e-ink color reader is not the same as regular paperwhite because the color is different technology. But I do understand what people say by hazy, if you look at the white background and compare the paperwhite and colorsoft, the colorsoft almost has little dots. It reminds me kinda of a newspaper if that makes sense? First impression I didn’t like that but it’s growing on my and almost looks more like real paper
I had a yellow bar on mine. I reset mine and I think it helped but it’s still there. I have decided to keep my kindle colorsoft until they get more in stock. I like the colorsoft. A little disappointed with the yellow gradient on the bottom. My letters are grainy close up.
I wanted to like my Colorsoft, but I returned it, mainly because I didn't want to wait for an update and it still have the yellowing issue. I was willing to look past the yellowing issue, but then I didn't like the fact that none of the book covers would fill the full screen when the device was in sleep mode. I know that is such a trivial complaint, but it's something I enjoyed on the Kobo devices. I'm sure it's a work around or a fix, but I didn't want to bother with looking into that process. However, I can say the ColorSoft does have nice color payoff, but I think this device was rushed.

I started with the Kobo Clara Color because of its small size and ability to fit in even my smallest purse. Then I started obsessing over the Kobo Libra Color and sold my Kobo Clara Color and got the Libra Color with the stylus. I thought I was content , but the then I missed the small size of the kobo Clara color. and went back to that. Fast fwd and now Kindle has a color device, so I just figured that it would blow the rest out of the water, but as I said I returned it. But NOW, I want a Kobo Libra Color again, so I think I will get that and sell my Clara color... I know, I know. How indecisive am I? But Im a minimalist, so I typically don't have more than one device that does the same thing.
I will also say, I do enjoy the Kobos operating system better because of the fact it has overdrive on the device and also google drive (at least on the Libra Color) , so it's easier to get books on my device via it be the library or books I download from google drive. I also like that I can plug it into my computer and load books directly onto it that way. The only con I have with kobo, that I was excited to gain back with kindle, is that books that I put on my kindle that I do not purchase through kindle, will sync to all my devices, but with Kobo, it only syncs books purchased through their store or borrowed from the library.
It’s like picking my favorite child! Lol. I think all my kindles serve a purpose but the regular 12th gen paperwhite is the best midrange that gives you everything you need. Thanks for watching!
I had mentioned another comment that I traded in for the 2024 Fire 8HD. But with me, it’s a matter of consumption. Yes I had a perfectly fine 11th edition. Paperwhite, but I never ever picked it up to use so I traded it alongside a cracked 8HD. With me, I read, use TTS and Read Aloud (NetGalley Shelf for ARCs), Audible, Hoopla, and Libro FM (ALCs). This was a well thought out decision that readers of e inc may shake their head at, but I could not be happier. When I simply just want to read, the fact that having the matte screen protector on my Fire HD8 makes reading a very pleasant experience.
I agree, I have the Colorsoft and I'm not experiencing the issues that people are talking about. I've had the Libra Color as well, and the color on the Kindle is better. I think the Kobo's OS is better thought out. It's just not as snappy as the Kindle.

With these, I'll either hold it or use a sleeve. Yes, I've seen so many folks do the magnetic pop socket and now I get it. I love it. Plus the click is so satisfying.

Are you sure the colorsoft isn’t set to bold? I purchased both paperwhite and colorsoft and for some reason my colorsoft came with bold turned on
