The knob (silver plastic part) is broken on mine. The crank works but the whole assembly feels really fragile. This confirms that I need to look for a AV-1 specific rewind knob spare part! Just a note on the different versions of the rewind knob. Although as noted by the presenter on this video, the rewind knob part number for the AL-1 is different than that of the AE-1 Program, it is, however, identical in fit, form and function. I have just fitted one. The AL-1 knob can therefore be used as a direct replacement for the AE-1 Program. Broken complete AL-1's can be found cheaper than the knob alone for the AE-1 Program on the second-user market!!
Hi! I have an AE-1 with a bit of an issue. The plastic guide next to the winder axle on the right side of the back of the camera, you know, the long thing with the small stubs to move the film, broke. I have a non working A1 that I could use for parts but I have not found any video describing how to reach and take out that shaft. Have you ever done anything like that?
but how do i get the knob off? I bought a ae-1 for this part since the knob on mine fell off. I can't seem to figure out how to get the replacement knob off the junk body!

Just got an AE-1 Program from eBay Japan and it was re assembled wrong and I thought it was broken. The spring was in the wrong place. Thank you!!!

im missing the holding spring and the rubber washer, does this mean i need a whole new knob?
