Some random dude at the bar put this on the jukebox. The riff caught my attention. I walked over to the jukebox and this began my BLS obsession. The Blessed Hellride will forever be my favorite BLS record.
@@yettiman2817 I totally agree with you. The riff of “Stillborn” is, for example, as enjoyable and heady as that of “Sweet Leaf”, which is a model of the genre… Otherwise, there is another one that I love too, it’s that of “ The Green Manalishi", notably in the following cover: ua-cam.com/video/rt8zGoEmGrk/v-deo.htmlsi=9ov-C18o7eqTLxza
It's actually one note - E. It's played with accents to make it sound more like other notes but it's a single open 6th E string picked in a way that you pinch your pick and the string a tiny bit and move your pick horizontally up and down the string as you pluck and it makes that ascending/descending harmonic metallic sound.
@@smudge1619 I don't think this is entirely correct. if you look you can see he is muting and picking the A string. That's how he gets the "metallic" harmonic.
@John Hall No, you can do this without muting and with a single hand. It wasn't a guess, I've been playing for over 35 years and play this song all the time, I know exactly how to do it, it's just difficult to explain sometimes. There is no muting it's pinch harmonics moving up and down the string. You don't buy plucking the string partly with the flesh of your index and thumb finger holding the pick along with the pick as well and it makes that sound. It's part of Zakks trademark.
I just love the absolute hell out of this track!!!! I've resonated with it from the moment I heard it years ago. This is easily one of the best BLS songs. Not for its complexity but, it's ambience and, staying power.
Dude I’m not gonna lie I wasnt listening at all I literally saw that guitar and had a spiritual experience and now I need to have it.. after I make this comment I’m hunting one down and buying it. That is the most badass guitar I’ve seen in my entire 40 years of living
Too many years of acting out got him in trouble ! ! He quit drinking, hope it's not too late. Would suck to loose another Great One before their time ! ! !
As a 20-year guitarist, zack's command of the fretboard is unmatched. His vibrato is like nothing from any other guitiarist.. 1:47 and hold your chin closed.
So that's the magical chord I've been hearing all this time. 1:36, 1:41, 1:45. I'm a drummer but I also sing and have a very good ear. As many times as I have listened to this tune I have been curious about the tonality at 1:36, 1:41, etc. So Zakk, what's the chord brutha???
That whole First part of the chorus goes, Tune your guitar to his tuning first, F# D Minor, emphasis on the open A and D strings then an A, with the Added 5th fret on the E and B strings and not playing the open A and D strings, just play the last 3 strings with that one, you'll hear it when you get it, followed by the octave on B and C with the A5......
He plays pinch harmonic all the way through the verse on the single note, moving his picking hand back and forth to change the pitch of the harmonic...
The riff of this song is the epitome of the famous saying, "Less is more. "...Zakk is really the man!
Need that Suicide Messiah playthrough 🔥👀
100% Agree, Suicide Messiah is one of my favorites!
Yes!
Definitely
Fuuuuck yeah
1:34 This riff pays off so hard.

Zakk's approach to his BLS riffs is such an inspiration to me. Keeping it simple and hard hitting is more of a challenge than adding a ton of notes!
Underated Imo. His riffs are just as iconic as Tony Iommi. And his technical skill is off the charts

That guitar is beautiful.
The main riff is like 5 notes then down to 1 yet somehow still goes hard af
Yep, very dimebagish

its about the tone
and they say he is too wild and all over the place! Simple straight forward and hard as they come!
The vibrato is mind numbing! I can listen to Zakk play 7x24!
No over edited miming like a lot of modern metal stuff. Just pure rock guitar.
Lol.
hearing that one without the signing and big mix really made the drumming stand out.
My favorite BLS song. It never gets old to me.
For all the praise Zakk gets, I still feel that he is underrated
After the other playthroughs I was hoping for Stillborn. My prayers have been answered!
Loved blasting this song to the ire of my wife! That tone is solid gold!
i’m loving this serie w zakk! i love him
Saw Ozzy a few years back, dude is an incredible guitar player, what power and dominance into an instrument. Bravo!
Yes that is one of his great songs and he definitely is one of the greatest guitar players alive
Request for Mr. Tinkertrain!!!!! ❤
Yes!
Yes, that riff is very Devastating and Brewtal. 🤣😀

I know sometimes zakk can go overboard with his harmonics ,but dude he's a beast on the guitar 🎸.
I think he goes underboard

Wow, the GODFATHER is just so AWESOME!!!
Holy shit! where did the rest of Zakk Wylde go?
blood clots... he almost died... lost a lot of weight

dude's good! should start his own band!
I heard he did after he played with some old dude for awhile 😊🤘🏻
damn this joke works every time
@AL Butcher For real. Jeez that joke is on every video of a famous guitar player. I don’t think it was funny ever
@AL Butcher sorry grandpa from 1965.
@@zachtaylor5312 and sorry grandpa from 1954 I think

He styled his vibrato from John Sykes, there's a few guys that use that wide open Vibrato...
You guys heard the acoustic version of this? Holy moly it's good!
Zakk is my guitar hero!
1:50, that trill, sheeeesh.
Impresionante solo y sonido, muy grande zakk wylde!!!
i always loved this riff. very perry masonish.
Outstanding.

Oh wow he play really like Zakk Wyyyaaaalllde ..Zakk zakk zakk zakk 🤯🤯🤯
🤘One of the riffs is Dime ish to me.🤘
Great song too.
magnifico.
My blown out deltoid complexes are in envy of that lightning fast strike on the close of the OD after solo.
This man has truly escaped any resemblance of reality as far as technique achievement
It’s so beyond flawless it’s scary to see how he’s evolved
Fire it up should be next 😊
Guitars look crazy cool

Some of the simplest songs are the best
Led Wylde
Oh Yeah
where do i get this guitar
Troubled Wine!!!!!!!!
The main riff reminds me of Zeppelin's Wanton Song.
This feels like when someone does a play through of the bass part on runnin with the devil
How about you do a video on how to play stillborn acoustic that versions way way better.
Mr.Zakk Fucking Wylde
is that zakk who's playing in the video?

Looks like a guitar that Stryper would play
Lol. Zakk does put Jebus front and center on the mic stand!
Can you Say Pinch Harmonics ! ! ! ! C'Mon Zack, stop makin' it look so easy ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Mind Numbingly Brilliant dude !

What is the brown pedal ?
I think it's a Jerry Cantrell wah but I'm not sure
It’s his signature rotovibe, it’s more of a dark red colour.
