She was beautiful and carried herself so regally for a child. So much weight on her shoulders. Same story/different country. So sad. I really appreciate all the hard work you put into these videos. I think I’ve been around a long time and there are still so many stories to learn. ❤
It’s her daughter’s who left me speechless! One started working as soon as she died. She even had a huge birthday party in less than a week to her mother’s death! Terrifying… Oh, they didn’t even question how abnormal their mother’s death was!
It is underworld mafia of drugs and sex. Shridevi was prostitute like most, in fact, all of the Indian actresses.. She was killed by her clients in Dubai.
@ Who knows! I saw the interview one of her daughter did when she was asked why she started working as soon as her mother died? do you know what she said? and I quote « I remember mom always told me to work as I am doing it to honor her » what more scary she became so popular as soon as her mother died,, don’t you think something more tricky was going on like they you know sacrificed her??!! Scary isn’t it! What a sin really…
So when I heard this- I automatically thought the daughters. Sridevi didn’t let her daughters really mingle in the Bollywood scene and kept a tight rope on them. Bollywood is pretty much the same as Hollywood if not worse because in Bollywood, family covers and even assist family members in their sacrifices. There is even videos I watched where the daughters wanted to show skin or wander off but the mother would scold them in public and keep them near her. She knew the type of people they were around. My guess is knowing that the daughters wanted to get involved in films, she thought she could walk them through or be able to protect them. Indeed, I think she was a sacrifice and I have no doubt the daughters were involved. For sure, those predators were going to poison those girls minds - they are gorgeous and I’m sure they were after them. They wouldn’t be able to get to them if the mother was alive- that’s for sure!
that poor first wife, I googled her and she died at 48 from organ failure due to cancer. the article said she had her kids around in her final moments. She also lived with her in-laws all the way up til her death wow. rip
The first wife passed away just before the release of her son's movie. Meaning she never got to see her sons first movie, her being a movie director and working in the industry. The same thing happened with Sri devi. She died right before her daughters first movie.
It was Sri Devi's death that brought her stepchildren (from first marriage) closed to their father and step siblings. You can still see the pain and damage of estrangement in son's eyes. He is 30 years old but the incident has deeply affected him.
She didn't force her husband to neglect his kids and she didn't deceive Mona in any way. She was innocent in many aspects. She only came alive on camera but, off-camera, she is reserved and hardly spoke anything. By the way, the fact that Mona lived with her in-laws just shows the amount of power his first wife had as compared to Sridevi. Sridevi would not have the power to stop Boney from meeting his own kids.
Her story reminds me of Natalie Wood. Both started out as child actresses, who were supporting their families. Their deaths were both mysterious, dying in water. Most people blame their husbands for their untimely deaths, yet neither man has ever been charged.
That was common back then for the poor, not many thought there was anything wrong with it. Jews did it when hiding and slaves during the American slavery were known for having to do it if they came with Harriet
Judy Garland's mother gave her and her sisters amphetamines (to keep them going.) and benzo(so they could sleep) as a child. Some "mothers" be they child's worst enemy.
She used to act in so many movies simultaneously across industries! Not just acting but she has to do dances too more like 6 dance numbers per movies! Of course that must have lead to exhaustion so her mother used to give small amount of alcohol to make her sleep well!
Ooh I waited so long for this video! She was such an amazing actress but led such a sad life. Her death is so mysterious and the things she went through is so heartbreaking! Thank you for this video Karine ❤
What a toxic family. I always say those who follow the gravy train are toxic to the bread winner. I appreciate you telling this beautiful soul's story, as I have never heard of her. Very sad.
So sad, I truly think she loved her daughters enough to not abuse her body and health this way. ❤Unfortunately she was murdered by her husband, and in due time it’ll all be revealed 🙏
Sri Devi ❤😢 when I heard she died I cried so much. I could not watch her movies without crying at the time. English Vinglish has been the last movie of hers that I've watched, I grew up watching her movies and I did not know her name until later. Love from Nigeria ❤
Mona got cancer and died early from The hurt pain anger resentment inflicted on Her by SriDevi’s pompous, mean actions to kick she and her children outta the house and not let Boney interact and support them.😳. They had to stay with one of his brothers and after she died SriDevi continued the same policy. She took lots of lavish vacations abroad with Boney and her 2 daughters but never included his first kids. First kids are scarred, daughter battles weight issues and son angry and in relationship with a woman 13 yrs older, also weight issues. SriDevi made sure to give both her daughters tons of plastic surgeries and skin whitening before she departed
I love your content and your voice is soothing to listen to. The background music made it difficult for me and it pushed me to a point where I was actually feeling dizzy and disturbed/distracted by the background music.
Great job as always Karine!!! This is crazy this beautiful woman was wearing color contacts, bleaching her skin, got a nose job to look white? In India??? colorism across the world this is insane!!! She was wrong for what she did to her former friend.
Sri Devi was my mother's favourite actress due to her acting skills. Apparently, Sri devi needed some financial help when her father fell sick, Boney Kapoor took advantage of her tender age to compensate for her father. Unfortunately, bribery, Harvey Weinstein cases and nepotism is super common in Bollywood cinema and it is kept low-key. Due to women coming out in the west, it is making it somewhat easier for female victims to come out as well from Bollywood cinema. In Kerela, the court is normalizing the act of abuse in the movie industry.
And millions of people came to join her funeral procession in Mumbai...this city's insane roads and traffic got even more insane then. I heard somewhere that only Mohammad Rafi, Kishor Kumar, and Rajesh Khanna drew bigger crowds at their funerals in Mumbai. She was much loved in India, I can tell u that
I’ve heard about her death, as my partner likes Bollywood movies. Her husband was jealous of her popularity and success. Allegedly, when he found her, she was still alive, but he waited too long to call for help.
You can always tell someone’s energy from their eyes. Beautiful woman, very sad eyes. Her mother and grandmother inflicted so much trauma on her that Sridevi ending up continuing that cycle and inflicting trauma onto her own daughters with the amount of plastic surgery they got at such a young age. I hope her children can break the cycle.
They inherited her love for PS but none of her innate talent for acting. Her eldest Jahnavi is v pretty (she's had a lot of help from surgeons, ngl) but is a terrible, terrible actress. I say this as someone who has been a Sridevi fan since childhood and still is (I'm 44 now) because she was that damn good at her craft. It makes me sad that her legacy has come down to children who think that wearing skimpy clothing and speaking English in a fake western accent is what being an actor is all about.
She is indeed the real superstar of India. The thing about her is she is spread across the film industries in India. Many foreigners know only bollywood (Hindi film industry) but there are many other like Kollywood, Tollywood, Mollywood etc from different states who speaks different languages. The greatest movies of her were actually from not bollywood but from South Indian movies. Some iconic songs of her in my language Malayalam was; 1. Sashikala charthiya 2. Ya ya yaya Yadava 3. Sisirakala
It's not been decades since her death actually. She died in 2018. But she did WORK for decades and had a strong presence in multiple film industries all during that time.
People love to bring up skin lightening and plastic surgery like other actors all over the world don’t do it. Every star transformed into the aesthetic that would get them attention. It’s not exclusive to certain cultures.
nobody said its only one certain culture! But here its about india culture and their standards of beauty which leads to certain changes which people undergo! Why u triggered! Its about a specific case so stay on topic or leave
I used to think aa child my pain was unique things only happens in my culture. Other women were so luck so lucky the world put them in a pedestal. Now i realize pain depression and trauma sees no color or culture. We all connected in this world. Some women around the world or past generations were just great in hiding it
Hey Karina, loving your videos I'm learning so much, thank alsobfor covering Sri Devi , one of my favorite actresses. Love & blessings from one of your old followers 👋🏾🇬🇧🙏🏽💯💖💖
@@eirannahmason3616 it is true. Her daughter Jhanvi got Sridevi's nose which she herself got rid of through surgery. None of the daughters looked beautiful before surgery.
It wud be good if you watched some of her work and commented on that too rather than just a report on her. She was probably sad cause she knew her husband was plotting something.
One correction: The mother did not give her alcohol to put her sleep. It is far worse. It is widely believed that her mother gave her drugs and alcohol so that she could pimp her out to producers. She was abused from the age of 14. Poor woman never stood a chance.
She knew alot abt BW & her husband. Acc to an investigator,, she had seen PM of Sridevi. If she dies in Dubai then only will her husband get Insurance. Sridevi did tell a colonel who was her friend abt everything that she was going through & abt her husband. If u know anything rather be silent than losing ur life. Karma will hit bk at the right time
Great story. My first experience watching Bollywood actresses was a crossover film for Mira Nair, Mississippi Masala. An American film featuring Denzel Washington. After my mom researched, Mira Nair was a prominent screenwriter, filmmaker and director in Bollywood. Shrivdevi looked familiar because Mississippi Masala and Monsoon Wedding featured well known Bollywood stars. Can you cover prominent late Nollywood actress Rachel Oniga. She was one of Nollywood’s highest paid stars. Her career started in the 80’s.
I love your videos I am a huge fan of old Hollywood glam i am so thankful you did a video on an Indian actress as a 3 rd generation middle eastern woman born in America it is so amazing to see someone like Shri Devi she is definitely a missing part to the culture ❤
You should mention that it was Boney Kapoor who was after Sridevi right from the begining. He also made Mona Kapoor aware of his crush on Sridevi - he was that crazy about her. Sridevi never thought of Boney Kapoor as marriage material - you can see for yourself that she was way out of her league but, since he was the producer of her movies and provided her all the comforts she humored him to some extent. But, after her father's death and after her mother's disastrous surgery which reduced her mother to a vegetable Sridevi was left alone. That is when she started relying on Boney Kapoor and realized that when all other people had turned their backs on her it was Boney who stood by her and that is when she decided to marry him. Even her sister Srilata was totally surprised by her decision because Sridevi was the ultimate diva and Boney was not all in her league and secondly, he was married with children. She tried to be a bridge between Mona Kapoor's children and her family after Mona's death.
Lovely video. I remember the controversy surrounding her death. Tragic. I am a big fan of Bollywood movies. Have you thought about doing a video on Shah Rukh Khan or Kajol?
Check out Mr India, Lamhe, Kalakaar, Chaalbaaz, Sadma, English Vinglish, Mom...all are in Hindi, which was not her 1st language. She also did 100s of movies in other languages, particularly Tamil, which was her 1st language. A quick Google search will get you some recos. E.g., Sadma was 1st made in Tamil as "Moonram Pirai" - both versions are gr8 imo (I know both languages). Her earliest Hindi movies - Sadma is one of them - were dubbed (often by another legendary actress Rekha whose Hindi is flawless even tho she is also Tamilian and therefore "alien" to Hindi), but she made an effort to learn Hindi - which is damn hard for most South Indians to do - so her later movies are all in her own voice (with a cute Tamilian accent, which only Indians will recognise 😊)
Sridevi was one of India's most brilliant actresses. She could do any role, any scene, and convince you to laugh (check out the makeup scene in Chaalbaaz or the Charlie Chaplin scene in Mr India, I swear you will rotfl), cry (the "judgemental" scene at the end of English Vinglish - it's entirely in English), rage (all of Mom), dance (she was a brilliant dancer - check out the Hawa Hawaii song in Mr India).she was so good that she gave all the leading men of BolIwood an inferiority complex, until she semi-retired in the late 90s. I hope u enjoy her films as much as millions of us in India still do.
Fyi, in Lamhe and Mr India, she was paired with the legendary Anil Kapoor, with whom she did many movies until he later became her brother-in-law. You probably know him as the quizmaster from Slumdog Millionaire or the rich Indian guy from Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
Lets not forget the property fight that happened in her ancestral house at Chennai. That property belonged to her parents n should belong to her side of the family. But AD showed they'd completely redone the place NorthIndian style n NorthIndian relatives were in it. Shocking the guy klld her n kixked her sisters out of their ancestral property. Not to forget the huge insurance they could have collected. Not to forget this couple burned thier house down just to collect insurance. They were really in debt. Definitely offd by the crooked husband. He waited hours until she was cold n lifeless. Called his friend instead of emergency. Damn.

Karine- I really enjoy your videos. I like how diverse your biographies are. Also you love the Most High Yah. I recommend your channel to people for biographies. I also like your Mental Gems💎 . I watch Bolly Wood movies also.
There was a series made on her death and the similarities are shocking. It had Madhuri Dixit and Boney's brother Sanjay in lead. They show how a famous beautiful actress was killed by her daughter who debuts a week later. The series was cancelled by Netflix after 1 season and Sri's daughter seems similar to the girl in the series.
Admittedly; I only knew of SriDevi 💐 because of those face-double-type apps (when I was at a healthier weight. I am nearly emaciated in my present pic). Before other things became much more concerning in my life; I struggled a lot with my appearance. I have been diagnosed with BDD, so I can definitely relate, and would already have had plastic surgery long ago (thanks, European beauty standards) were I not indigent. I can only imagine how hard it would have been for me to have so much overwhelming scrutiny on me all the time! It's really sad when someone is used by those who should be protecting them. Great video, as always👍 Such a tragic story; and all too common. It's not just a Hollywood problem, it happens in Bollywood (as was stated), it happens in Japan - it happens across the globe. I wanted to be an actor (my acting teacher liked to say "actor" for everyone) when I was young, and these days, I'm really glad that didn't happen. ✌💖🙏
I know Sri Devi was definitely exploited by the entertainment industry and she in return made very bad decisions in her life.. leading her to this so it’s very unfortunate that she died in a mystery. My grandma used to say I look a lot like her (because of our eye to face ratio).
I guess you are yet to do Madhubala, the equivalent of Marilyn Monroe in South Asia. Sridevi and Rekha is nothing in front of her. Female stardom in bollywood actually started with Madhubala.
As I understand it, you can drown in as little as 3" of water. One of the stories about young Abraham Lincoln was there was a neighbor who was really drunk and had fallen in some mud. Everyone was laughing at him because he was too drunk to make it out of the mud. Abe decided to help the man out of the mud. When the man was sober he thanked Abe for saving his life. He had been drowning and was just too drunk to get out of the mud. But no way was this woman as drunk as Abraham Lincoln's neighbor. Mark Twain's daughter had epilepsy and died when she had a seizure during a bath. (I'm more certain of the historical accuracy of this story.) Again, this couldn't be the case. One of those things we'll never know. 🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸
Her husband murdered her with some help. She was probably drugged and left in the hotel room while Boney was in India and then he came abd drowned her in the bathtub. Who calls a friend, a high profile politician after u find your wife unconscious. You immediately call the ambulance. This is really fishy. They somehow managed to bribe the authorities in Dubai and closed the case. Boney has Sridevi blood on his hands. Her daughters didnt care either. They celebrated Jhanvis birthday just weeks after her death and posted on social media. Everyone other than her fans only cared about her money. Her sister also shut up after Boney offered her the Chennai bungalow.

Who is the most suspected in her murder? Her husband?
Especially when she had insurance and very strange the case happened outside of home country

What a sin really…
she didnt start working right after, during the shoot of her debut movie, her mom died
I don't know her.....she's stunning.
I used to watch her growing up.She was a massive star in Bollywood.
that poor first wife, I googled her and she died at 48 from organ failure due to cancer. the article said she had her kids around in her final moments.
Shridevi was prostitute like most of the Indian actresses. She was killed by her clients in Dubai.
@@sha78962she would have been disappointed in her son even twill now.. seeing his string of movies till now
She didn't force her husband to neglect his kids and she didn't deceive Mona in any way. She was innocent in many aspects. Right from her toddler days, she was working - she didn't have the same school friends as others her age. Her mother and sister were her friends - so her knowledge of the world was very limited and she was highly dependent on her parents and siblings. She didn't get a proper education. Boney was crazy about her right from the start and he unashamedly pursued her. She was not interested in him because he was not all in her league but after her father died and her mother's disastrous cancer operation she was left alone. Her father had left a lot of money with their relatives to evade taxes and they all turned their back on her when her parents died. Boney stood by her and supported her - even her sibling who was married at that time did not provide the support. So, reluctantly she decided to marry Boney Kapoor. I feel sorry for her. If you see her interviews you will see how awkward and quiet she is - people who have not had a lot of interaction with the outside world and have had a very protected upbringing are usually who act like that.
Sridevi was even physically abused as a child by her parents, she want like a child women, it's just difficult to ignore her
Yup I just said it
Couldn’t her mom have given her some chamomile tea, read her a story, and sang to her? How could she give her child alcohol to sleep 😢
@@SchoolOfUnlearning3that’s messed up, and how money can change people
The actual story is far worse. It is believed that her mother gave her drugs and alcohol so that she could pimp her out to producers as a minor.

Her death was always so suspicious to me I remember following the case
One of the most beautiful indian women I've ever seen 💐 🌹 💐
Great job as always Karine!!! This is crazy this beautiful woman was wearing color contacts, bleaching her skin, got a nose job to look white? In India??? colorism across the world this is insane!!! She was wrong for what she did to her former friend.
Do you know of her character in this movie? It seems you judge extremely quick
Not sure she bleached, most actresses do bleach
Sridevis real eye colour was almond brown, contact lenses were worn in nagina to have snake effect also to protect her eyes.
She used contact lens for a particular character of a snake woman in one movie. They were using that same movie images again and again.
She was wearing color contacts for the character in the film. Although yes, she did get a lot of work done to fit into the Indian beauty standards
This makes me sad! Did they do an autopsy? Her husband definitely knows what happened
No autopsy done .. straight away cremated. Which is sad
And millions of people came to join her funeral procession in Mumbai...this city's insane roads and traffic got even more insane then. I heard somewhere that only Mohammad Rafi, Kishor Kumar, and Rajesh Khanna drew bigger crowds at their funerals in Mumbai. She was much loved in India, I can tell u that
You do such great videos everytime. And the background music was nice- and not too loud so I can hear you! 🥰
Karen ur research is superb...100 💯 percent accurate
I think the entertainment imdustry in any part of the world is seedy and corrupt. It's like the hallmark
They are all connected- it’s a world wide scheme!
Sridevi's mother also ultimately died an unfortunate death, due to incompetence & negligence of a US Surgeon in NYC.
Some iconic songs of her in my language Malayalam was;
1. Sashikala charthiya
2. Ya ya yaya Yadava
3. Sisirakala
I’ve noticed from Bollywood movie watchers, they always bring her up even though it’s been decades. She is a legend in her field.
It's not been decades since her death actually. She died in 2018. But she did WORK for decades and had a strong presence in multiple film industries all during that time.
Please do a video on Jetsun Pema from Bhutan
She is World youngest Queen....love your videos always ❤
People love to bring up skin lightening and plastic surgery like other actors all over the world don’t do it. Every star transformed into the aesthetic that would get them attention. It’s not exclusive to certain cultures.

Her husband got her killed for many wicked selfish reasons ....she can never commit suicide....
One correction: The mother did not give her alcohol to put her sleep. It is far worse. It is widely believed that her mother gave her drugs and alcohol so that she could pimp her out to producers. She was abused from the age of 14. Poor woman never stood a chance.

She was murdered for life insurance

Most interesting and informative. I must seek out some of her work.
Thank you for this video 💐💐💐💐 RIP SriDevi ji
Lets not forget the property fight that happened in her ancestral house at Chennai. That property belonged to her parents n should belong to her side of the family. But AD showed they'd completely redone the place NorthIndian style n NorthIndian relatives were in it. Shocking the guy klld her n kixked her sisters out of their ancestral property. Not to forget the huge insurance they could have collected. Not to forget this couple burned thier house down just to collect insurance. They were really in debt. Definitely offd by the crooked husband. He waited hours until she was cold n lifeless. Called his friend instead of emergency. Damn.
I heard that Whitney's bath was too hot so when she stepped into it the shock made her pass out. Apparently this happens commonly with hot tubs.

(I'm more certain of the historical accuracy of this story.)
Again, this couldn't be the case.

Hi Karine. I love your videos. Can you do a video on Dana Tee, aka Dana Tran, the mother of Diddy's youngest daughter?
