That 'dovetail' changes the lines of the rear section in the most positive way possible. Tremendous modifications, and I know from your later videos that you went on to do even more awesome things with it.
Get either an OS Giken or a Guards rear diff….HUGE difference. Add the GT3 brake master cylinder…awesome pedal feel. Get a really good alignment -2.5 front -1.5 rear w/zero tow up front. Add the 3rd radiator and smile vent . Optima battery and an under drive pulley kit to free up a few more ponies. I own a few Caymans, so have FUN!
I have added all of those since this video was done except for the battery and under drive kit, but did add a twin turbo haha 😂 check out my recent vids!

Test drive them all and see what you like best :) I did test drive a older 150hp Miata this summer, but car that felt quick even with that small engine. But it felt to much like a go-cart for me, fun but makes for a ride that will wear you out on long trips. I sometimes to 12 hour long hauls and need a car that is fun and relaxing, not to sporty... I am pretty much set on a Porsche Cayman even if I have not yet gotten to test one, did go drive 1200km this summe to a wedding and planned to also test a Cayman, but when I came to the dealership the car was sold, had called day before and car was not sold. Typical my luck...

How about LS swap it? It is about 100lbs heavier than the stock flat 6 motor with 400+ HP and TQ NA. Staying NA is the best way for reliability and the Chevy LS motor is known to be reliable and cheap to make power too. If you can get the car to be under 2700lbs, that would be awesome.
Man that looks fkin amazing! I think I'll get one in ~5years and hope that the m96 common engine problems don't get the best of me haha. The one and only thing that I would change would be the steering wheel. I prefer the round-ish over the triangle.

the duckbill is cool. I dont care for it on the 997 and newer Carreras...car is too big. But I wonder what a Cayman would like with a tea tray instead of the duck bill if sonmeone made it for the 987.
Very nice. Been interested in the tall dovetail for mine but haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. The more I see it the more I want it. The turbo will be sick. Considering the same at some point. My only complaint about mine is that the steering wheel is too thin. Do you agree? Porsche did a nice job with the interior other that that.
I've got a 2007 Cayman S, same color, that I'm building for serious autocross. What size tires are you running. I ordered the SM-10's from APEX. 18x9 and 18x10. I'm hoping to put the A052 295/35 & 265/35. I've got the RSS LCA's with -2/5 front camber and -2 rear. I also added the MCS 3way remote dampers, WaveTrac LSD, SOUL Performance headers, ECU Tune, etc....

@@danrasch4235 the wing I have now definitely impacts downforce at speed and to balance it the 991 front end helps along with some canards to help it really suction down at speeds 70ish+ :) the ducktail by itself probably makes it more unstable than a proper wing without the proper front splitter and wing setup

Got the exact same car as you do. I was wondering if the rear can go 10.5" x 18 ET60 and you answered it for me, thanks. The front will be 8" x 18 ET57 so the staggard set up will be more extreme. Given these rims I'm looking at came off 911 997.2 base. Should I be worried about the offset?
Nice! Primarily depends on which suspension you run as the Ohlins have a wider body on them so the clearance on the rear with the 10.5's was super tight so I had to add that 7mm spacer and I don't recall the offset but it's whatever 18x10.5 was offered by Apex in that EC7R model for the porsche

I’m 6’3”, and have fit into a 987 perfectly fine. the biggest concern for tall guys in these cars is leg extension…i have shorter legs, but if your legs are longer than it might not work.
@@ShelbyPaget it started sounding weird for about a week, and stop running as I was switching gears..bore scoring for sure. ( swapped for used engine with less miles, new lighter flywheel, clutch and set-up , runs perfect ( 2-3 months later) :0

Thanks! A 2010 standard c6 vette is probably much more reliable in regards to being able to beat on it and it’ll just work! The Porsche is very reliable but has two main issues with this M96 engine, IMS issue and possible Bore Scoring too, not common but if they come up it’s very costly!

Mic, I owned a 2011 987.2 BS and currently have a 2014 981 BS and the 981 is by far superior. If ya have the $$$ I would get the 981.

What is the reliability of higher mile 987's like? They seem to be pretty reasonable price now compared to the 911.
you said it burned oil on the way back from the purchase...are you concerned about bore scoring or has that been checked out already?
Yes it was checked and all was good as of 700 miles ago so hoping it stays that way :)
