    I like watching your videos,shows real fishing not just catching.
    Are the lake trout throughout the lake,or mostly down around the lower part of the lake?

    • @randallrydesfishing
      @randallrydesfishing  Рік тому +1

      Transparency is key. Lakers are mostly found around 7 points. They are usually deep. 45 feet or more mostly.

    I use the fish replica down rigger weights I bend the tails so it takes the line away from the boat and powder coat them (amazing attractant ) I liked, commented and watched until the end to sub so should stick at 277 new friend from Alberta

    Do you know of any spots where you can catch stripers from shore I heard in the spring they move in shallower I don’t have a boat or kyak tho also nice video :)

    • @randallrydesfishing
      @randallrydesfishing  Рік тому

      It's hard to predict where they will pass by the shoreline. I'm afraid I can't give you a place. I can tell you, you are right! They will move into the shallows. I'm going to look for them tomorrow. If I learn anything I'll tell what I'm thinking. Watch my bank angling videos from Weaver Falls till then. Thanks for the comment. It helps the channel out.

    The reason why they were having a hard time getting off the surface was they're experiencing a level of barotrauma since they're from water 30' or deeper.

    • @randallrydesfishing
      @randallrydesfishing  Рік тому +1

      I'm sure you are right. I've noticed that if you bring them up slowly they release healthy nearly every time. Thanks for pointing that out.

      @@randallrydesfishing Yeah it's sort of like getting the bends.I read somewhere one time that 2-3min isn't even slow enough,and they were saying about 20-30min.Could you believe taking 20-30min to reel in a lake fish. prob have all your rods loaded up by then....lol
      They say some fish have a way to equal the pressure quickly but I forget what it's called and never did find out what fish they are.
      It took me 20-30min to bring in a 5' to 5.5' Sandbar Shark on #30 braid but with Shark the longer you take getting them in the worse it is for them because of the stress.

    What speed do you typically troll? You know I've been trying to figure out the lake trout thing. The slowest I can get my boat to go with my outboard is about 2 mph give or take little bit depending on wind. Should I be good with that speed?

    • @randallrydesfishing
      @randallrydesfishing  Рік тому +1

      That may be a little fast. Can you drag something to slow down??? Some people use a drag sock or a bucket. Go the speed your lures need to look right. I like a spoon that goes ROCK, TUMBLE, FLIP, REPEAT. Basically, as slow as possible but maintain good action. I can't tell you exact speed. I don't monitor that.

      @@randallrydesfishing thanks as always for the advice. I might give the bucket trick a try.

    What size weight is your down rigger ball? Does it have any prism tape for extra flash? I would start at 25 feet behind the ball, but its good to know they aren’t afraid at 10 foot.
