This needs far more views and likes than it has. I like the occasional hot towel shave...it's something I've grown to enjoy every so often after letting my full beard grow for at least a year or so. Thanks to that I often find myself looking at videos about the history of shaving and razors through history from time to time and seeing an actual historical style shave is a neat thing. I'm more of an old west guy myself but seeing stuff from the revolutionary war is cool too.
He did a masterful job, and you were far more composed than I would probably have been. I would assume that one did not want to owe the regimental barber money... :D Well done!
If it interest you, take the time to check the video out down in the info card. Sean shares even more there. We will also be sharing some deleted scenes for patrons on the Patreon account. That will come up tomorrow.
Fascinating. I have used a safety razor for decades. I'm intrigued by the straight razor because of its historical use, but I'm not sure I would actually use one. Think I'll just keep trimming with the razor :) Thanks for the interesting video!
Will, I commend you for this! It doesn’t look like a fun time! Great job! I wonder how difficult this is to do yourself? I’d really like to use a historical straight razor but I’ve been hesitant in that I’d cut myself.
It was a first! Moving forward, I think it would be a lot easier. Also, I do use a straight razor now occasionally. Cuts are part of it as you get going. Working slowly and taking your time definitely helps.
Hi Will. Just finding this. Is there a way to get in touch with Sean regarding where a proper period razor (original preferred, repro OK if it's accurate) can be purchased?
Thanks for an interesting video. Facial hair was not acceptable in civilian life or military life during this time. British soldiers were expected to shave at least every three days.
Underrated channel.
Thank you!
Impressive. Very nice to see. 👍

Well done and bravely faced.
Bravely faced - I see what you did… lol

This was really fun (for us anyway). Sean was quite a jolly barber! Someday he'll make a good Santa Claus, but then he'll have to leave off shaving.
Very well done video thanks again
You’re very welcome!

I know what you mean! Will
Great stuff! Thanks for this and good work guys!
Glad you enjoy!
Outstanding! Now have a Hooker's Retreat! Great video!
I should have had one before… L O L!
Τhank you for this video!! Can you tell us, how often the soldiers shaved back then? was it every day? how many times a week?
Sean spoke of it a bit in the video but I don’t have better info here.
Will gets shaved! The hell you say!
Interesting !
Glad you enjoyed!
I’m trying to shave at events myself. Do you have a detailed recipe for that aftershave?
the information section of this video has a link to a video the shaver made and in that video he talks about the recipe.

A phrase I learnt regarding Sheffield steel “She’s Sheffield steel warrant never to fail.”
That’s a new one to us. Thanks!
How about more programs
We cannot wait to return! My day job is a network television and the season is about to end. We have several things planned. Thanks!
What is the difference a soldier's hair being clubbed versus cubed?
It’s cued - and we should do a video with Sean on it because I don’t know. I will get the answer for you. Will
How was your skin a couple of hours/days afterwards?
Totally fine!

And also noting, American army, even early on they follow this with shaving required. No more then three days growth.
At sometime in the past they preferred men to have facial hair in war to look more manly and threatening
Yup, but not here. And then they got rid of it due to gas masks.
Wasn't that during WW1?@@RevolutionaryGazette
@@KoriH-rj6chyep. Beards have gone and it out of style throughout history, and facial hair was the norm during the civil war.
