Hey everyone I just wanted to leave this comment here to explain that the Max Potion I use in the opener demonstration is supposed to be a Tincture of Dexterity. I just used a max potion as a substitute so I didn't burn through all my tinctures at the time. Looking back this was really confusing so I wanted to leave this here to hopefully help anyone who is understandably confused hahaha

I swear, all the best guides and help videos for FF14 I've found have been from smaller channels that I never hear anyone talk about. One exception to that is Mr. Happy as I love his EX/Savage guides, but this vid did amazing for me in improving my DNC play. So many little things I was doing wrong or timing incorrectly! Thanks!
I read the abilities and stuff and understood the procs but I was playing and I still felt like I didn’t know if it was suppose to be that way and so I looked up a guide:> thank you for making it solid in the fact that it’s based on RNG either giving you it or not
This is a really helpful guide. One thing maybe to mention is to always use fan dance III before fan dance I or II if both are available so you always have a chance to get a proc when using them. Mostly relevant under flourish because it gives you a fan dance III but in the opener you use a flourish gcd before fan dance III so you may get a feather there.

BRD is definitely a good choice for practicing working with procs, especially when they get certain songs. If you don't mind playing a caster I'd say Red Mage can be a good one too since you have to react to your spell procs a lot.
I main DNC and am pretty confident in the rotation I use (it's more or less like yours, I just tend to hold my feathers until I have a double dance burst window to use them in or if I feel like I'm about to die) but watched this out of curiosity and for learning purposes. The only question I have is on the purpose of the potion. What....does using a max potion to restore HP do for you in the opening dance window that's of any benefit? All it does in the video is restore your HP. Does it do something to the GCD that I'm not aware of? =O
Ahh haha that’s something I’ve done as a replacement for a tincture in the opener. So normally it wouldn’t be a max potion. I think at the time I was worried I might have to burn through multiple tinctures if I needed more takes. I’m gonna avoid doing this in future videos because even when I go back and watch it I get confused there hahaha
Yeah this was not a well thought out idea I’ve been trying to think of a way to clear the confusion up but I think the best way may even be to just tweak the video and reupload. There are a few things I wouldn’t mind touching up after all haha. In the meantime I think I’ll pin a comment explaining it. Just a question though about the rotation step breakdown, are you talking about the ability icons appearing at the top of the screen during the opener and rotation? Because I had to double check to be sure but that’s the Tincture of Dexterity so that part was right. Unless there’s another part I’ve missed (so I know what to fix up haha.)

Ohh okay no worries! So there’s raid potions in this game you can buy and they are basically just consumable buffs. So like use a potion and you get a bunch of extra dexterity for like 30 seconds on a long cool down. Tinctures are just the name of the ones in Shadowbringers
Hey just jumping in as a DNC to say in my personal experience as of 2021 patches, GNB outdoes DRG and other dancers for espirit generation. SAM and MNK are still best, but for espirit gen, GNBs aren't bad at all. If you do a crit build with materia/gear stats where saber dance is a major part of your damage you should consider breaking the "never partner tank" rule for them.
@@VicWrightFFXIV That, and near-guaranteed uptime/rolling GCD as, especially as only tank or main tank - they're keep alive priority and attacking constantly to maintain enmity (unless something has gone really wrong or they really can't play the job well) + incredibly easy to get in your technical step radius.
Okay the dance partner priority list is waaaaaaay off when it comes to MCH. They generate the most amount of espirit out of any other class and they heavily benefit from devilment.
Also wildfire is just an extra OGCD that you use as a bonus, your actual burst window is your hypercharge window and heat blast, gauss round and ricochet ALL benefit from crit/dh, so you're waaaaay off the mark there.

No worries! So with improv the best times to use it is whenever the boss becomes untargetable and there’s no mechanics you have to deal with. This will give you the most espirit from it. If you know you have at least two minutes before the next time the boss becomes untargetable you can stand on your party and just tap it right before the boss does a raid wide aoe. Just tap it and keep doing your rotation like normal. You’ll get one tick of espirit from it and give your party a buff that increases healing received to help out with that aoe. If that made sense haha
I've been using devilment right before technical to boost that 1500 potency. I believe I read that in a guide somewhere. Is your opener a better way of doing it?
When DNC came out a lot of people were using it for technical step so some earlier guides listed it as that. But since the technical step itself takes about 2~4 gcd to do start it, do the steps and finish it, you’re losing out on possibly 2~4 crits for the chance at one big one. Also if you use it after you’re dance partner will also have the devilment crit chance stacked with the technical finish for a longer duration. But it does definitely sound nice on paper buffing that 1500 potency. When I first picked up DNC I was thinking the exact same thing before I tried it the other way.

I think the strongest single target one is Fountainfall if I remember and that’s also 350

Lots of people told me if want to get a feel for dancer archer and bard are the best place to start to understand proc base
BRD is definitely a good choice for practicing working with procs, especially when they get certain songs.

Your flourish procs are 300-350 potency, this is stronger than your base combo so yes, although you need to be in melee range to use them

Rng is so stupid , what did the dancer do ? Dropped a chakram or does a caster stutter to mess the spell up, such a stupid mechanic.
