- Theirs was the first to arrive in Barcelona, the America's Cup host city. Theirs is the first to slide out into public view. And theirs will be the most talked about boat in the Cup....for now.
But this was much more than just a new boat reveal...this was the first glimpse of a new generation AC75. Alinghi had hinted that their new boat would be radical and they weren't kidding......or are all the new crop of new Cup machines going to look like this?
The answer is that we don't know.....yet.
What we do know is that this is the boat Alinghi Red Bull Racing will use for their assault on the America's Cup.
It's a striking looking machine, more aggressive than many had expected.

If Adrian Newey had a part in this design then be wary. My pick is still for the Kiwi boat, but we will see. (Admission: I don't like what Grant Dalton and company have done with the location of this iteration of the Cup. In fact, I think he has sold out his country in the interest of greed. Views from an Australian with a deep interest in the Cup.)

@@Loffyfromthehills In away true, but Adrian Newey is only one tiny component of design. Many teams have boasted and gloated that they have NASA and Formula 1 designers and yet they didn’t beat the Kiwis. It’s how all these factors come together in one whole package.
I am not seeing anything radical at all.
A little bit boring frankly.
But for a first time campaign - this is entirely to be expected.
It was not of any importance at all, as 20K views after five days demonstrates. And you are hardly the person to impart excitement to a commentary.
