I love George Zucco in this movie ! He usually plays the villains in his movies, but here. he's suave . sophisticated and debonair ! I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
I love these old B movies. They provide as much great entertainment as A movies. Loved the storm too. Also, The Black Raven is my favorite guilty pleasure.
I love George Zucco in 'The Black Raven' - he's so calm, cool, and collected. It turns out even better when you realize in the end that he's actually the "Good Guy" in this one.
I am trying to read the reviews after watching the movie. Many get carried away with their movie critic ambitions that were never realized. Very sweet actually. Bravo to them for persevering.
I purchased a book entitled: "Hollywood's Maddest Doctors". It's actually a biography of George Zucco as well as Lionel Atwill and Colin Clive. It's good to see that Zucco is in good company. Reading about his life is just as entertaining as enjoyable as watching him perform.
Notice the WW2 mileage ration stickers on the cars’ windshields? “A” is for private citizens, B for businesses, C for special professions, doctors, embalmers, military, clergy, etc. Then there were stickers for motorcycles-M, truck drivers-T, and high mileage like delivery vehicles and salesmen-X. Along with the stickers people were issued ration stamps that they surrendered upon purchase. The national speed limit was 35 mph. Ouch!
@@101Volts I was browsing through some old car owner’s manuals and realized how good we have it today. Tires had to be replaced every 12,000 miles, oil changed every 1,000. You’re right about the speed - in addition to what you said those cars did not have crumple zones to reduce the severity of the impact. Aren’t cars today more efficient at 55mph than 35mph? I’ll have to look that up.
The exchange at the 23:25 mark, between Byron Foulger and Whitfield is priceless. "there's someone trying to break into my room" Foulger tells fellow lodger Whitfield. He replies: "a man or a woman"? Foulger; "why a man a suppose, why would a woman want to break into my room"? Whitfield; "I suppose you're right".
you right I forgot Bartender ! He was so many westerns it will make you head spin!He was going to play the monster in Frankienstin but for some reason it went Karlof!
+Emmette Craft - Zucco was underused and underrated. I love him as star in some other poverty row studio films such as "Mad Monster," Dead Men Walk," "The Flying Serpent." He was also a wonderful character actor, most notably, in my opinion, as Professor Moriarty in "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes."
Thank you so much ,may you have some yummy sauce This time on me ,a year ago or so I saw part of this grand story, I picture, I didn't get to finish it I have downloaded it, and can't wait to finish or should I say watch the whole thing again thank you for what you have done, putting these great movies here to watch 😊
Glenn Strange also played the Frankenstein monster in House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula and Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. Nice to see him in this.
Movies of this era almost always worked in a young couple in love, no matter how unnecessary it was to the plot. It's remarkable how bland the actors and their characters usually were. But then, this was an era when the studios tried making films that appealed to as broad an audience as possible. Something for everybody.
I had this on VHS for years. George Zucco is great in anything like Lugosi. I don'tthink he gets the notice he deserves. this is good one. my fav is Dr Renault's Secret.
Thanks for another great feature upload. I like the way in some of these they show introduce you to the actors at the start, anyone know what years or what studious did this?
Not sure who the good gus are and who the bad guys are. $50,000 in 1943 would be worth about &714,000 today dollars. So that was a tidy sum back in 1943.
. . . "the smell of garlic and sweat" . . . hmmm. Interesting reference. Guess the Black Raven was in the red. If you don't really look, you don't notice that the old place is a bit tattered, 50k could fix it up nicely with change to spare.
Carpentersdaughter2 get yourself a Google chromecast cost about £30 then you can cast them direct to your tv from your smartphone or tablet, that's what I do.
Poor Glenn Strange. First, he has to park cars in the rain and some years later he has to dress up as some kind of "monster." Consider yourself lucky! BTW one of the better PRC releases and if that isn't damning with faint praise, I'm not sure what is.
Think AgainThere are white ravens and piebald ravens, genetic mutations. There is also the White Necked Raven and the Brown Necked Raven, separate species. The common raven, Corvus corax, is sometimes so glossy black that it takes on purpilish or bluish hues and is familiarly pointed out in a flock as "the blue ( or purple) raven."
Think Again You asked, I answered, signed, Mr. Obnoxious Knowitall Truly though, ravens are basically black. I understood the humor in your comment and was mostly yankin your chain.
La musique du générique a été utilisé pour plusieurs séries b notamment le chasseur de fantômes mais aussi pour le film l homme singe encore avec bela.
My wife thinks I'm nuts for watching old movies like this but there better than anything being made today
+Robert Gowans She must think I'm nuts too!

Love these sort of films especially on a cold Saturday afternoon when it’s raining wonderful 😉🇬🇧
It is now February 27, 2021 and I just found this. And eerily, it’s Saturday here on Long Island, NY, and it’s cold and raining.
And 1year later I have found this again, and I can finally finish it.
TY for sharing. I love the old B&W films of yesteryear, especially the mysteries.
Many Blessings All 🙏🇺🇸
George Zucco- what can one say, one of the greats. A guilty pleasure!
I watch this movie every now and then, and it always feels like as good as new. Love George Zucco, he's a legend of classic mystery and horror movies.
Everything's better with Zucco!
I love George Zucco in this movie ! He usually plays the villains in his movies, but here. he's suave . sophisticated and debonair ! I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

peasblossom1973 thanks for spoiling the movie. Way to go
why tell us?
I am trying to read the reviews after watching the movie. Many get carried away with their movie critic ambitions that were never realized. Very sweet actually. Bravo to them for persevering.
An entertaining movie with George Zucco in top-notch acting form. It had good pacing, plot, and acting.
Great cast. George Zucco is always and Byron Foulger is a great sniveling little worm with a great as t line.
"Why would a woman break into my room?"
I purchased a book entitled: "Hollywood's Maddest Doctors". It's actually a biography of George Zucco as well as Lionel Atwill and Colin Clive. It's good to see that Zucco is in good company. Reading about his life is just as entertaining as enjoyable as watching him perform.
Good Idea for a book and a movie collection
George Zucco, a great talent and a joy to watch in any film . Classic horror legendary actor .
George Zucco-almost always played baddies but was one of the best ever!
George Zucco was always fun to watch.
Agreed! A guilty pleasure!

Interesting details. Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX
Well, car tires weren't very good back then, and cars didn't have seat belts. It's kind of good that they didn't go very fast.
@@101Volts I was browsing through some old car owner’s manuals and realized how good we have it today. Tires had to be replaced every 12,000 miles, oil changed every 1,000. Thank you PizzaFlix for another fun mystery movie. Twists and turns until the very end.
I love these old films. Coming in at just over an hour they are also easy to squeeze in if you are short on time.
Man that Sheriff was one tough guy! Just as mean as can be. Heartless. One might even say
MERCILESS!
That was a nice ming to say.......... Tim M. 6-13-2024
George Zucco, my all time favorite mad scientist! 😝
Love movies like this, old movies are the best ! 😊
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
thks for this upload... they don't make movies this exciting anymore!
I love watching these old movies .
George Zucco, my favorite Professor Moriarty, of Sherlock Holmes fame!
My favorite parts of this good movie is the Rain Storm!!
I loved Glenn Strange in this..."Move over Sheriff" He was great in the old westerns, then of course Gunsmoke!!
Gunsmoke -what the hell you talking a bout ,you are confusing Glenn Stange with James Arness who play is Matt Dillon!?
Glenn Strange was the bartender for years
you right I forgot Bartender ! He was so many westerns it will make you head spin!He was going to play the monster in Frankienstin but for some reason it went Karlof!
I didn't know that, he probably would've made a good. Of course, Karloff was great!!
David Smith Karloff is better then grate he is a splendid actor
Zucco sure knows how to delegate responsibility.🤣🤣🤣
love them no blood and guts or swearing
An hour long of thunder & lightning.... nice.
Love these old movies
George Zucco is awesome.
He's suffering from rabid delusions aggravated by a moronic mentality.
I totally enjoyed this movie☺
Thanks for the post. 🌹
Good Felix , Thanks again 👏🏾 🙋🏽
This movie was so bad, it was delightful! All the actors were fabulous!!! 😅
Good film, thanks. All the ingredients I like.
Hazel Brooks It has all the ingredients a mug like me enjoys too.
Good guy or bad guy,Zucco always had a gun in the desk.
I hear the opening music in my head when someone at work does something shifty
thanks for posting
Really good!
Thank you for sharing 😄
The man playing Andy is the man who played Sam the bartender at the Long Branch saloon on Gunsmoke.
Glenn Strange also played the Frankenstein monster in House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula and Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. Nice to see him in this.
Great movie !
They don't make films like this any more. The Golden Age.

Mr22thou bland? Wow! What do you mean by bland?
I had this on VHS for years. George Zucco is great in anything like Lugosi. I don'tthink he gets the notice he deserves. this is good one. my fav is Dr Renault's Secret.

Great American movies!
Agreed its s good one
Love this movie
Best Movie Ever!!!
The writers must of had fun writing this one. 😄😁😆
Aww it's Sam from Gunsmoke 😁🍿🥤✌️🥧🦋
Except for the sheriff and the idiot servant, all the men are wearing suits, ties and pocket handkerchiefs throughout the entire movie.
Stop putting ads on youtube!!
Adblock
23:23 "why would a woman want to break into my room?"
"yeah, i guess you're right"
🤣🤣
PRC made some fun movie's, never saw this one, really enjoyed it!
The man with the round glasses sure looks like Robert Crumb.
Che movimento ! A seguirlo mi è venuto l'affanno 😀
Classic film.
The little guy with the thick specs shows up in the strangest places!! He was never the star, but in the end he earned his fifty grand.
Anybody know who the angry bridgemaster is?I swear I've seen him elsewhere.
That is Jimmy Aubrey according to IMDB and he has 451 movie credits! No wonder he looks familiar.
I ❤️ this movie 🎥
. . . "the smell of garlic and sweat" . . . hmmm.
Interesting reference. Guess the Black Raven was in the red. If you don't really look, you don't notice that the old place is a bit tattered, 50k could fix it up nicely with change to spare.
It certainly still holds true on today's public transport.
is that the guy that played Sam the bartender on Gunsmoke?
Bonnie Young Yup, sure was. And the monster in House of Frankenstein.
I want to watch these on YT on my TV with my sony blu-ray player how can I set them you to view
Carpentersdaughter2 get yourself a Google chromecast cost about £30 then you can cast them direct to your tv from your smartphone or tablet, that's what I do.
A good featurette,59 min after opening credits of 2 mins!
Not blurry enough. If you squint, you can sort of make it out.
Zucco is honestly hilarious 😅😊😅
Thanks!!!

In these old movies with very very few exceptions, everyone is dressed to the 9s….suits and high heels.
Black Raven - are there any other colors?
Think AgainThere are white ravens and piebald ravens, genetic mutations. There is also the White Necked Raven and the Brown Necked Raven, separate species. The common raven, Corvus corax, is sometimes so glossy black that it takes on purpilish or bluish hues and is familiarly pointed out in a flock as "the blue ( or purple) raven."
Thanks for the education.
Think Again You asked, I answered, signed, Mr. Obnoxious Knowitall Truly though, ravens are basically black. I understood the humor in your comment and was mostly yankin your chain.
The same music as The Devil Bat with Lugosi
good movie
All that and Ming as the sheriff too
I am unable to take my eye out of it till the end.
These are really movies!not a pile of filth and c g I tried together in our faces!
Professor Moriarty (George Zucco) from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes owns a inn now.
A great who-dun-it!
You guys should watch The Southerner. Very good movie
It's not a western is it?
they did a masonic handshake at 1800...thumb over back of hand
very fun.
Turns into a Monty Python skit at 9:00.
Deon Gable This parrot is no longer capable of drawing a breath. It has ceased to exist. It is a DEAD parrot.
La musique du générique a été utilisé pour plusieurs séries b notamment le chasseur de fantômes mais aussi pour le film l homme singe encore avec bela.
It was a dark and stormy night...
Kudos to Fred Myton.
Google I. Stanford Jolley and Glenn Strange. They look like twins! Why do you put two guys who look that much alike in the same move? 🤷🏻♀️
what other colour is a raven?
Good point. I'm a jazz musician and abhor most rock. The rock band The Black Crows made a fortune I'm sure but their name is plain stupid. Thanks
The Green Leaves. Now that's a name!
Depends on what substances you might be taking😂
With out rock u would have no jazz, get a grip and learn something @billy geez
Piebald. White...
🌟 Wanda McKay later became Mrs. Hoagy Carmichael.🌟
That Sheriff was useless.
Spoiler......
I love how he's just died, and they're like, "Oh well, lets just step over dear ol' dad, and celebrate our coming nuptials 😂
