I love these old black and white movies, they're the best. What cracks me up, is the fact, you ever notice how, in these mystery suspense movies, they always take place at night, after dark, and there's always a thunder boomer and lightening storm, with never ending pouring rains? I love it, becuz it helps set the mood, for a great "what's gonna happen next" scenes and scenarios. And I love all the old antique furniture, the rugs and carpeting, the fireplace, etc ... it takes you back to a whole nother world than what the world is like nowadays

      Truth is stranger than fiction
Corona is truly frightening because you do not know the end.
      I hope it ends soon
So many valuable lives good people lost.
      Till then take care
Stay home even if it is boring
And no going out without a mask
Do not ignore any minor symptoms because the rascal virus gives no chance at all if it reaches the lower respiratory tract
Corona is easily prevented but if allowed entry into our system it is fatal
Such a terrible disease never ever happened in human history where the whole world is affected.
      Praying for everyone.
Watch movies at home to keep the disturbed mind engaged.

Glenn Strange. Sam the bartender from the long running series Gunsmoke. And here as Andy at 6'5" you can imagine this big guy as the Frankenstein monster cast in the role three times for Universal Studios from 1944 through 1948. Frankie's last appearance was in Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein. Roles in hundreds of films, credited and uncredited. Mostly western roles. Born in Weed, New Mexico 08/18/1899. Passed away 09/20/1973 in Los Angeles, California. Thanks and R.I.P. Mr. Strange...

markcoveryourassets I saw that right off. Strange grew up in west Texas, near where my folks are from, he probably never even saw a rain hat before this movie. I have never seen a real one of that type. Even so, when he put it on I said to myself, "Rains gonna run down his neck." Then he flipped the inside out collar of the coat up over the hat making a funnel down his neck. No wonder he complained about never getting dry.
His accent was fairly noticeable for someone on the Canadian border.

To DAN CORDOSI - George Zucco had played a good guy before: in "Dead Men Walk," also released in 1943,
he played a sort "Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde" duo role, with Dwight Frye -- 12 years after Frye was in "Frankenstein,"
in '31 -- the year George Zucco's film career began. ("Dead Men Walk," was also Dwight Frye's farewell role.)

    ***SPOILER ALERT***
Just wished the proprietor didn't die, couldn't he been only injured? Just shot in the arm? And how could the sheriff be such a noodlehead? The proprietor had way more sense!!!

On the "Lone Ranger" tv series he was the villian responsible for killing all the Texas Rangers EXCEPt one. UA-cam is a treasure trove. Happy viewing from Las Vegas, NV October 01, 2018

One of the many reasons I enjoy these older movies better than the modern garbage today, is they do not shake the cameras. I have never understood the allure of the shaking of the cameras and I refuse to watch any movie that employs this moronic tactic.

Decent movie. Too bad they didn't have Roy William Neill directing.(Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes). He was known for directing films with meticulously lit scenes with carefully layered shadows that would become the style of film noir in the late 1940s.

This was excellent! Zucco was great! Script & actors were all great! So much better than the crap I’ve watched this entire week-- the movie houses need to reissue every excellent old movie there is-- people would flock to them- providing you would run the films longer than 2 days or a week!

For the longest time I wondered about that big fish hanging on the stairway wall. Then it dawned on me, it's a red herring With four known criminals and a total of six suspects there were already enough of them.
Interesting camera movement at 3:12 as Whitey moves left ( to his right)
the camera moves almost 180* to the right, almost a horizontal circular motion while focused on Whitey at the center.
A mystery why they show the register when people sign in , they scribble so small it's unreadable
Ms McKay was a bit stiff and seemed to be reading unfamiliar lines a few times she ran out of breath once leading to an awkward pause in one bit of dialogue. At 48:50 it's a bad match of a bad double for Byron Foulger as he and Glen Strange tumble down the stairs. This thing was worth watching for Foulger and Strange alone.
